Actor Paul Walter Hauser discusses his admiration for the comedic 'straight man,' naming Jason Bateman as the 'crown jewel' for his roles in 'Arrested Development' and 'Horrible Bosses.'
Transcript
00:00I still think like the crown jewel of straight men in comedies is Jason Bateman in Arrested
00:06Development or Horrible Bosses or anything like that. He manages to get laughs while also being
00:16the most grounded. So in a way I was like, you know, this is a good challenge for me to
00:21leave
00:21all my silliness at home and know that my environment of comedy is silly, but I'm trying
00:27to play it straight. So I kind of studied George Kennedy in the original films and I was like,
00:32oh, you're also playing his son. So take a couple things from him that are, you know,
00:37whether people notice it or not, there's a couple George Kennedy-isms that I imbued the character with.
