00:01Anonymous health personnel file a complaint against Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa for
00:06wasted medicines worth 1.5 billion pesos. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. mandates the
00:11use of Philippine names in referring to 131 features in the West Philippine Sea.
00:17U.S. President Donald Trump says the end of the Iran war could be near.
00:21Pope Leo urges Trump to look for an off-ramp to end the war with Iran.
00:25And government and local offices discuss concerns about child safety on gaming platform Roblox.
00:39A group of concerned Department of Health personnel claim the department wasted medicines and
00:44vaccines worth 1.5 billion pesos. This prompted the group to file a graft complaint before the
00:50office of the ombudsman against Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and 16 others.
00:54The group files the complaint anonymously due to fear of reprisals from health officials.
00:59The concerned DOH personnel allege high-value commodities including contraceptives and
01:04mental health-related medicine such as antipsychotics and anticonvulsants worth 68 million pesos
01:09expired from December 2025 to March 2026 inside their national warehouse. Last February, 24 million
01:16pesos worth of psychiatric injectables also expired. The DOH's national inventory report in January showed
01:23around 1.3 billion pesos worth of vaccines were left undelivered. Regional warehouses also reported
01:29expired tuberculosis and measles vaccines. But instead of authorizing emergency distribution of
01:34near-expiry medicines, the officials allegedly chose to rush the disposal of these medicines and quote,
01:40hide the evidence from media scrutiny. The complainants want Herbosa and the other respondents
01:45placed under preventive suspension and ultimately dismissed from service. Herbosa and other officials
01:50face a separate draft complaint involving 1.8 billion pesos worth of mobile clinics.
01:57President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. mandates national government agencies to use Philippine names in
02:02referring to some 131 features of the Kalayaan Island group in the West Philippine Sea.
02:07This comes a day after announcing a reset of ties with China despite maritime tensions that don't show
02:13signs of abating. Executive Order No. 111 makes official the Philippine names of the features,
02:19including those not controlled by the Philippines. Marcos officially instructs the National Mapping
02:23and Resource Information Authority, or NAMRIA, to produce and publish updated charts and maps
02:28using the Philippine names of the features. The charts and maps should also show the Philippine
02:33Maritime Zones as indicated in the Philippine Maritime Zones Act. The EO also orders education government
02:38agencies, state universities, and colleges to use the updated maps and lessons. This could
02:43strengthen an internal narrative as the country asserts its sovereign rights and sovereignty claims
02:47in those waters and features. Visit Rappler.com for the full list.
02:53US President Donald Trump and the Secretary of State Marco Rubio say the end of the war in Iran could
02:59be
02:59near. This as Washington signals a potential for both direct talks with Tehran's leadership and a
03:04winding down of the conflict even without a deal. The remarks highlight shifting and sometimes
03:13conflicting signals from Washington on how the war, now in its fifth week, could end. Washington
03:19earlier warned it could intensify military operations if Iran rejects a 15-point U.S. ceasefire plan,
03:25which includes halting nuclear activity and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio also says there is
03:30potential for a meeting between both sides at some point. Still, attacks were reported on both sides
03:35early Wednesday with drones hitting fuel tanks at Kuwait's international airport. A tanker was hit
03:40by an unknown projectile near the Qadari capital, Doha. Authorities in Bahrain also report a fire at an
03:46undisclosed company facility from an Iranian attack. Pope Leo XIV urges US President Donald Trump to look for
03:54an off ramp to end the Iran war. This in a rare direct appeal from the pontiff as the regional
03:59conflict expands. Hopefully he's looking for an offering and hopefully he's looking for a way to
04:07decrease the amount of violence. Leo rarely makes direct appeals to national leaders but he has been
04:13stepping up criticism of the Iran war in recent weeks. The Pope also said on Sunday, March 29, God rejects
04:20the
04:20prayers of leaders who start wars and have hands full of blood. He also lamented the number of
04:25people killed and hoped the violence could end before Easter on April 5. Government regulators,
04:32law enforcement, and educators discussed concerns around child safety on the gaming platform Roblox
04:37during a public dialogue. This follows a police operation that foiled a planned mass shooting involving
04:43children who were allegedly manipulated on the platform. During a discussion led by the Cybercrime
04:49Investigation and Coordinating Center, participants reviewed the scale of reported incidents on
04:53Roblox compared with its global user base. Data shows the platform has about 382 million monthly users
05:00while the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children recorded around 24,552 cases of sexual
05:07exploitation. But Regina Sibal of the National Parent Teacher Association says each case involves a real
05:13child and should not be reduced to statistics. Participants also warned that the actual number of
05:18cases may be higher as many incidents go unreported. Officials confirm that a formal 30-day notice has been
05:25issued to Roblox. And that's today's wrap. I'm JC Gutinga. Thank you for watching. Click the link below
