00:00Did you know the NFL is making changes here to the upcoming season with some of the rules?
00:04And one of those rules that we always thought was interesting was the dynamic kickoff,
00:07which actually has made football better.
00:09Gives us more returns, penalizes you for just kicking the ball out of the end zone.
00:12But now, Joe, we're seeing that you still have to say,
00:15well, it can't be until the fourth quarter and you're losing.
00:17I'm going to declare an onside kick so you know it's coming.
00:20Part of the fun of the onside kick in the past was you can spring it on an opponent at
00:23any time
00:24and try to steal possession.
00:25So now, Joe, they're saying you can do this at any time.
00:28How do you feel about that?
00:31Yeah, again, I mean, the tweaking and the some of the original stuff, Donnie,
00:37that they, you know, especially when it comes to the kicking rules and things along those lines.
00:42Yeah, I appreciate the effort to kind of tweak them up to try to get them right.
00:47But, you know, I'm a guy that didn't if I didn't see anything wrong with the original version of it
00:51anyway,
00:52I didn't have a problem with the original onside kick.
00:56Now nobody can, you know, the problem is their rule changes.
00:58Just nobody can get an onside kick anymore.
01:01I mean, what was the conversion rate last year?
01:04Barely, it was barely 1%.
01:06So, you know, take it out of the game if that's the case.
01:10But I appreciate them trying to, you know, readjust some of these and tweak them up a little bit.
01:15But time will tell on whether or not any of this is going to work.
