00:00More than 400 tonnes of sand was dumped onto Frankston Waterfront in Victoria
00:05as part of the annual Australian Sand Sculpting Championships,
00:09running from March 28th to April 26th, 2026.
00:14The waterfront was transformed by sculptures with fairytale characters and castles
00:20in keeping with the year's theme of the enchanted realm.
00:23Artists had eight days to perfect their large-scale sand masterpieces.
00:28Fifteen solo artists, including five international competitors,
00:33were up for the coveted Aidan J. Graham Australian Champion title.
00:38Canadian artist Isabel Gass won the first prize for her work titled The Collector.
00:44Japanese artist Toshihiko Hosaka won the second-place prize for Little Wizard.
00:51Kevin Crawford from Western Australia was awarded third place for The Awakening of Tatiana.
00:57And Queensland's Peter Papamanilis was acknowledged with the fourth-place prize for The Shoe Inn.
