00:00Aaron Glenn's crazy, but I like this kind of crazy.
00:03And I know you thought I'd come out negative, Sam.
00:04For those of you just tuning in, for those of you just tuning in.
00:07You've got some nerve.
00:08I knew you thought I was going to come in all negative, hot and bothered.
00:11Sorry, I thought you might be consistent.
00:13My problem.
00:14I apologize.
00:15So Aaron Glenn met the media today.
00:17I think we have it for you.
00:18I'll give it to you right out of the gate so you know exactly what we're talking about.
00:21And a lot of people up in arms, Evan, Tiki, and Sean and the guys,
00:25and people calling in about how crazy this is.
00:27But let me let you hear it first.
00:29This is Aaron Glenn with the assembled media down at the meetings.
00:33The what do you call them?
00:34The winter meetings.
00:35I don't know what they call them.
00:36Spring meetings, owner meetings.
00:38Some kind of dopey meeting which lets these guys fly first class so we get drunk with each other.
00:43But here's Aaron Glenn when asked again about Geno Smith.
00:47And he is now added to what we played yesterday and last week about his belief in Geno Smith
00:53as the star quarterback of the Jets.
00:55Here's Aaron Glenn.
00:56How much with Geno, considering he had some struggles last year, obviously,
01:01how much consideration was given to maybe bringing in competition for him?
01:07You always want to bring in competition.
01:09And that's going to happen organically.
01:11You know what I'm saying?
01:13But I just feel like he's the guy that's going to lead us to the promised land.
01:16He's the guy that's going to touch the ball more than anybody else.
01:18You can stop it right there.
01:20He's the guy that's going to lead us to the promised land.
01:22Now, most people think I'm going to yell and scream about that.
01:25But my coach should think that.
01:28Now, he's dead wrong because we know Geno Smith last year led the league in interceptions.
01:33Check the box.
01:34Geno Smith last year led the league in sacks, 55.
01:37Check the box.
01:38Geno Smith hasn't played really good, competent football in, depending on who you ask,
01:42at least two years, maybe three, when it comes down to Seattle going out to Vegas and quarterbacking the Raiders.
01:49But here's where I'm at.
01:50And I totally disagree with everyone else's take on this.
01:53I think he's wrong.
01:55I think he's bat poop crazy.
01:57I know that Geno Smith can't play quarterback anymore.
02:00I know we're going to stink.
02:02But, man, if the head coach doesn't think he's going to be a rock star,
02:06then nobody thinks he's going to be a rock star.
02:08And they shouldn't have traded for him.
02:10So I think he's wrong.
02:12I think he's convinced himself that he's right.
02:15But the reality is that why would we as Jet fans expect our lousy head coach
02:21to think anything other than that a lousy quarterback is suddenly going to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl,
02:29which I define as the promised land?
02:31Maybe he doesn't.
02:32I mean, that's the question on what the promised land means.
02:34Well, what do you think the promised land is?
02:36To me, the promised land is a championship, right?
02:38That's the promised land.
02:39We agree on that.
02:39So, again, I think Aaron Glenn's a terrible head coach.
02:42I think he's incompetent in what he does.
02:45So it's like if you talk to somebody crazy,
02:48don't you have an expectation that they're going to be crazy?
02:52I can't get mad at crazy, big man.
