00:00slanted is really awesome because like the movie talks about you know the idea of beauty as well
00:05as talking about like systemic racism i think it's really nice that the movie tackles these
00:10issues especially today kids nowadays have so much pressure to present themselves in a way
00:16that is desirable and keeps you in the pack because no one likes to be left behind i mean
00:23it's like in our human nature our animal instincts do not want to be left behind slanted really i
00:28think talks about that pressure as well on top of all the numerous other topics which is really nice
00:32i love that my character brenda she's really confident in herself and is very like happily
00:39who she is and unapologetic which is a nice you know foil to jones character but what i will say
00:48is that i love that director and writer amy wang brought these two characters because both
00:56characters grow up in the same high school in the same neighborhood but have very different
01:01realities and how they see beauty and it just goes to show that you know you can have two flowers
01:08grow
01:09in the same garden but if their roots are inherently different the flower will blossom differently
01:15and both are valid neither one right or wrong so if you grow up to be a more confident flower
01:22maybe help your insecure flower to your left or right you know but also like it's not your job
01:29to like help other people but it's also really not your job to drag down other people so don't be
01:35that guy just move on with your day it's free to stop talking that's been a theme of my press
01:40day
01:40today just a kind reminder it's free to stop talking
01:43you
