00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:28I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain-Spanish. Spain-Spanish.
00:40Vamos a la playa de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Baidén. Yeah. And Vanela Bicruz.
00:47Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas. She's Cuban, right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay.
00:53This year marks 20 years since Brokeback Mountain. Are there any MM romance movies,
00:58shows, or books that have really stuck with you, either growing up or recently?
01:02Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first things that you told me.
01:06Yeah. Yeah. I love Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's his best work. I think that
01:11was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading men take on, you know, gay cowboys.
01:18It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call Me By Your Name, Moonlight, I think with
01:23Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house to the hood is what he said. That was already just
01:29a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having, you know, he said he wanted to redefine masculinity
01:34with that movie, which I thought was so cool. Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think, was like
01:38pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high school at that time. And I remember that being the
01:42first thing that felt like it was really a part of the cultural zeitgeist. And also handled like,
01:51it also handled queer stories in a really cool way where it was so under the surface and it made
01:56it so human, you know, which I think also was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking
02:03these people in such a specific time and place and like letting them explore love.
02:08Right. What does smut mean to you?
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym. Sexy. This is going to be in relation to, um,
02:20to Ember and Ice.
02:23Ember and Ice. Sexy. Magic. Um, Universe.
02:39I have no idea. What did I say? Sexy. Magic. Universe.
02:47Titillating.
02:48Yeah.
02:48yeah we'll do that titillating oh you very publicly shot your shot for Nightwing
02:54uh which was extremely fun to watch have you been a DC fan and what is it like to see
03:00fans
03:01instantly rally behind you especially the ones that say you have the face the talent and the
03:05butt I will be completely honest I when I saw like some fan art of you as Nightwing I was
03:12like
03:12blown away whoa like I I mean you never know if that's gonna come to fruition or not
03:18but yeah I see like someone did you in the comic book style I was like I see it right
03:23away wow yeah
03:25I would I would love to play him I love DC I love um I loved all like comic books
03:33that were true
03:34to the source material um and I think you know there are a lot of good filmmakers who like bring
03:42their own style to these you know beloved um um comics that I think it would be really great to
03:48work with them you know I'm not fully set on Nightwing you know I'm open to other things um
03:54did you always want to be in like did is superheroes no always something that's been like I absolutely
04:01not it's just it's when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven so when like a guy like James
04:07Gunn um or Matt Reeves you know comes to comics it I think that's what draws me um and and
04:16I heard James
04:16Gunn is doing the the Teen Titans I know there's yeah but yeah James Gunn he's in love with you
04:23true or
04:24false Hudson is more like Ilya in real life and Connor is more like Shane I think me and you
04:29are both
04:30like Rose and I'm like Svetlana I just said me and you are both like Rose but I'm just I'm
04:37just
04:37parting ways that's so Svetlana for you to say um I don't know I mean maybe I do feel like
04:45Ilya I don't
04:46know I think that um I I'm I'm too sensitive or outwardly sensitive or don't have a lot of shame
04:52around emotion to be Ilya I could be a little cocky like Ilya yeah but beyond that it's like
04:58I think Shane and Ilya sort of share us you know a soulfulness that's kind of buried under all these
05:05you know walls and kind of um uh masks but I think I think underneath that what we both relate
05:12with both
05:13of them is you know the the heart and and their soul after wrapping heated rivalry you two got matching
05:20tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did that happen um I did I have a reason for
05:26coming
05:27up to Vancouver I just wanted to come see yeah come hang out am I not good enough right come
05:31on yeah I
05:31just I don't know why for a second I was like I have something to do up there I have
05:35nothing to do
05:36in Vancouver I was there so yeah I just went up to see um I just came up to see
05:42you we knew we wanted
05:43to get matching tattoos I hadn't gotten a tattoo in forever um and we were just shuffling through
05:49ideas and yeah I think you came up with sex but like we were both pitching ideas and then like
05:54one
05:55person would like them the other person wouldn't and then when you said sex sales I was like oh we
05:59were sold that's the first idea you've had that's good I think it's honestly my most well done tattoo
06:03as well so that feels good the front of my shin pull in here zoom in true or false you
06:12ate a pound
06:12of beef of ground beef a day while filming heated rivalry true um Connor told me what his routine
06:20was and after I saw him in person um I asked him how he got to that size I thought
06:25he was taking
06:26illicit substances he wasn't he does it super clean sorry I mentioned illicit substances um but I have
06:33nothing to hide bring it on but he was so and just like so I was like what are you
06:41eating freak
06:42I was like I'm eating and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that and I was like
06:48I think
06:49that means ground beef um you're like that level of capability is what I need and then Connor was
06:55actually the person who put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get
07:00you
07:00know ilia cheeks um and chests you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down
07:07and you go into cardiac arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher
07:13with some you know pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking you look you look good digestive system it's
07:18really unfortunate if it ends that way yeah yeah I actually um I'm gonna one up this true or false
07:24I actually think that we ate more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has
07:28I think
07:2984 grams of protein and you need a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so sometimes
07:36I can eat two pounds of ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads I
07:41was having so much
07:42salad because by the end I got like gained 10 pounds so like when I started shooting I was like
07:47and by the
07:47end I was like 10 pounds heavier and it's because of yeah yeah you I mean you're very inspiring I'm
07:53glad
07:53that we had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were
07:58going
07:58back to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence like alone
08:02it's
08:02really it's nice that I got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go from
08:09a fucking 11
08:09hour day skating lesson and Connor would go let's do legs and I and I looked him he's a madman
08:15that's
08:15how he has a butt he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and
08:21I was
08:21like what are you saying I okay I knew I had a responsibility to the people he's America's ass
08:29and I I take that very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations did
08:37you feel any pressure being bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making
08:41the characters your own it's good I think to go into a project accepting that you know people might
08:48be disappointed especially with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions
08:52they've vision they've envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos
08:57of these characters like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be
09:03disappointed all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and
09:11respect
09:12it show the respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it
09:18and
09:18see that enthusiasm I think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not
09:23like people might just hate this people might hate your casting or they might hate my casting
09:28I'm not going to expect anything more and uh I'm just gonna do the best I can but you have
09:34really no
09:35metric of if people are going to be warm to your your take I really think at the end of
09:40the day all you
09:40can do is be really intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you know
09:47yeah
09:47and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well
09:55hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break it
10:00down for us it's not that lengthy yeah I always made fun of you for it too because I like
10:05honestly
10:06I'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but I'm always like yeah your skin
10:11routine and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay I'm gonna tell you in the
10:16morning I use water to cleanse my face warm water and then I put on a glow toner but it's
10:24pretty dry
10:24it's not like I don't like when people have like dewy like if I see someone it looks like they
10:28just wore a
10:29face mask I'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and then come talk
10:33to me because I
10:34won't right now um and then so my toner and then I'll put on um a serum and then sunscreen
10:41and then
10:42sometimes instead of a serum I put on a moisturizer and then my pm routine is an oil cleanser you
10:48know
10:48to get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out um and then I'll either use like a CeraVe
10:55normal
10:55ass cleanser or I'll use like a poor shrinking cleanser that's their new that's their new slogan
11:01CeraVe normal ass cleanser I think that is I yeah I also and then like a poor shrink or a
11:09poor
11:09shrinking cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum and then either a retinol
11:15or a salicylic acid and then I go to fucking sleep so I think everyone in the studio agrees that
11:22was a
11:22lot well I will also say I mean it makes sense you have flawless skin so and then when I
11:29take it off it
11:29just falls apart yeah he unhooks the he unhooks the clip back here in the back keeps it all up
11:36Connor yes story yes do you have a favorite spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember
11:42and ice what makes those stand out for you my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually
11:47a scene where Dane um is with two former lovers Cassandra and Elijah yep
11:58I need you to I need you to be here with me okay um Dane has an interaction with uh
12:05two of his former
12:06lovers um after having been with Finn for some time and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends
12:15up realizing that
12:16what what really works for him isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of this moment of identity
12:22loss and you know what what pleases me isn't pleasing me the same I think that's really cool because it's
12:28also it's because it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it also is really revealing of the
12:33character and the connection and where he's at you know um and I think it's funny I think I remember
12:39Dane saying something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing I did was I just had
12:44to come up
12:45with uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my friends I have bad news I have a lot
12:51from ember and
12:51ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in together and you kind of coax out
12:57of me without
12:58spoiling too much I think that one's just you know a lot of times like the intimacy before intimacy I
13:04think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got me um frothing at the mouth
13:11and heated rivalry
13:14favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to film do you remember filming the
13:18stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never come apart me and you
13:23were like do people do this do people like I know it's always a fun balance right of like when
13:29you're
13:29filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming it's like how much of it is fun tv
13:38and then how much of it is like is like true sex because at the end of the day you
13:42know you do have
13:43in real life people do have those those like movie moments where you're like you know you're like
13:48yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we i've done that and then connor and
13:52i were
13:53like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down then go both chain naked and go sex now
14:00sex
14:01now i'm robot plug me in true or false hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many
14:10times he flashed them do you know how many times i know that you i've yeah i remember this yep
14:16it's
14:17true it was one roommate um and i i mooned him 31 times what was his reaction when you mooned
14:25him
14:26was he like hudson her poor name was chelsea i i i've talked with her and chelsea has been like
14:32you can say my name and i was like so i've since talked about this since double consent uh double
14:37consent um and uh poor chelsea would just go i think her main reaction was like oh
14:46and it made me so happy where where is chelsea now and i i developed different techniques over the years
14:56she's chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but i would go and i would
15:00do like
15:01a drive-by at all these different techniques and then she would bring like other you know
15:06romantic interests home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and they're like
15:10oh that's how many times hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would you just like
15:16kind of butt crack it or would you fold so i had one where i would get pants low like
15:21i would de-pants
15:22and she would be unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and i would run by and jump
15:28in the
15:28air so i was like a like like a like a literal moon a literal moon but in fast motion
15:34sometimes
15:35i would just do the like oh drop something before we leave bend in i'm right there gotcha oh god
15:43yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were going to moon someone yeah
15:48a close friend chelsea is still my close friend make it and make it known that this is okay yep
15:53she got a who do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as an asian
16:01actor
16:01leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward
16:08um yeah i i wanna i wanna represent my my wasians out there you know um i've been declared do
16:19you
16:19know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince of wajah me i mean i i sign off
16:28on it
16:28okay i think you he's the final stamp off guy for this so uh yeah i'm the i'm the ambassador
16:35of wajah
16:35as a fully as a completely caucasian yes but uh as as uh this um little wajan i am i
16:44hope
16:45to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to do roles that are
16:51you know race has something to to play in there but also i just want to be an actor and
16:57a lot of
16:57the times i just want to play parts where it's like i'm i'm just there and we don't need to
17:02go in
17:02my backstory or whatever it's just you know i'm playing with any other uh non-person of color
17:10would play as well you know you're a person you want to be treated i'm a person love it baby
17:15on both
17:16heated rivalry and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator um why do you think that
17:21role matters on projects like this was there anything about the process that you think would
17:25surprise people wow i mean i think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question is i mean it's
17:33so
17:33important i mean you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing that i think would
17:42shock people about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and this is what i learned
17:48from chayla originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the actual safety the
17:54boundaries monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also
18:00actually a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know was also the
18:08voice that was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know you need to i
18:14need
18:14to hear that shiver or that i need to hear those um i need to hear that feeling through your
18:20wings i
18:21need to see that come about i need to feel that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical
18:26even though that's what i feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that
18:31job and that really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale this is so
18:39fun we have canada dry we have schweps we have can you can someone give me a rundown of the
18:45brands
18:46nope you're gonna try and we're gonna go i don't i've only named two from memory well how about this
18:50i'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything yep that's my hudson that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schweps or like um yeah
19:12that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada dry's got
19:17more
19:17ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and should be deep blindfold
19:27go ahead we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no way it says
19:37from frisco
19:39texas nope i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number two that is
19:48so
19:48embarrassing thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is this one i'm good i'm
19:58num num i'm num num you're my baby drink more okay this is cough syrup this is this is yellow
20:10snow
20:11what is this a pissy pineapple but that's the brand hudson i have to guess the brand
20:20davai yeah this is schweps okay this one is schweps
20:29i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong
20:34i'd feel like an idiot no i'm kidding stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up
20:44give
20:45me another one do you have more bring me bring in how many more bring in the last to me
20:53oh this one's a hard one thank you
21:08that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer hudson open what what what there's a there's a
21:21secondary flavor do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but
21:30do
21:30like an aromatics test go full song vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell
21:41it's fucking ginger pear fucking it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to
21:47understand you can't taste that flavor at all let's see what blood orange good job you can't
21:54taste that at all you put food coloring in you didn't put no blood orange in there i will say
21:58i kind of like this one though that one's that one's nice i like all of them but i guess
22:02the brand
22:03did i not you killed it when did you first realize you clicked and what are some of your favorite
22:09memories from working together i would say our first face time outside of a chemistry read because
22:15at that point i was always shane he was always ilya but then when we first met over face time
22:21before
22:21we went to toronto um we had so many like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked
22:29um art we liked and similar approaches to how we you know like to perform um that i immediately
22:36knew i think we clicked there and i think that's saying a lot because i think some of our our
22:41interests can be pretty niche the fact that there is overlap is amazing yeah and favorite memories
22:47i would say all our laughs on set being in muskoka um was really beautiful there was a lot of
22:55like
22:55lounging around um you know it was just great my favorite memories of working with you are also the
23:02laughs what's what's like an inside joke that we just died over the whole time um we had to storm
23:10the set
23:10that was also with oh yeah i would always be like storm the set but if we couldn't afford extras
23:16our
23:17idea was we would just like do like a cattle call we used to joke that like we um because
23:23we would
23:23have like airport scenes and stuff where there would be like you know for an airport you need
23:27like a bunch of people and we'd have like five people and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being
23:34like being like costa get up there and everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like storm the
23:39set opening the garage and just like opening it up to the public how does it feel to accidentally
23:45launch a workout movement i can't i honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from
23:54this you know i like i think i look a little too shabby i'm i'm in the process of gaining
23:59weight you know
24:00now yeah i was when you look you look freaking fantastic well bring it back to most of which
24:05just gracias de nada corazón de melón ah me hermoso no esposo um yeah i people people like our bodies
24:17let's just be honest about it people you know i care about my health i care about my fitness as
24:22do you
24:23um honestly watching the show is making us work out even more yeah so what drew you to doing a
24:30fey romanicy story and what was it about the script that hooked you for me it was exploring sensuality
24:37with with your voice you know that's the only tool you have and it kind of scared me a little
24:43bit and
24:44you know that there it was a really fun way to explore yourself it was fun it was actually fun
24:49and
24:49you know it's very demanding and it's well written i think in the booth the term winged hemingway came
24:59up you know fantastical hemingway because there was like war there's like this romance that's forbidden
25:06and it seems doomed uh in a lot of ways um and that was way heavier than i thought you
25:14know this would
25:15look like and it was really rewarding the story just moves really well too um it was just written
25:21really well uh as someone who you know is not a big reader i think something like this would be
25:28really appealing to me um just the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years
25:34and point of view yeah yeah i just think it's really like almost physically well done why do you
25:40think mm romance resonates so strongly with women right now um yeah we've we've both talked about
25:48this and kind of been intrigued by it um there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even
25:53just women you know there are straight women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer
25:59women it's it's um well that feels like a giant term to be like i know exactly what um you
26:07know there's
26:08the element of you can live vicariously and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one
26:13opinion that i had never even considered or thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to
26:19which is if you are female um and you are you are taken out of the equation there's and you're
26:29you're
26:30there's a spectatorship to that there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for
26:36safety you know like especially women um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially
26:42when it comes to sex and pleasure it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be
26:48lived out without um right female dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say
26:55that
26:55like when you see like a hetero um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to
27:03sort of
27:03relate with the woman character um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and two and like
27:08imagination a lot of writers you know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of
27:14outdated tropes um old archetypes and i think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they
27:20can kind of relate with this person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced
27:24into a box of here this is your person to relate with at the end of the day though we're

31:04fine i'm invested in heated rivalry not because of their giant bouncy bullets
31:09but because it's a true yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i
31:16think
31:16that's that's probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies
31:20you're in enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical
31:28intimacy isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics
31:32and character and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things jacob
31:38talks about this and that was one of the first things i think he brought to us um to try
31:45and explain
31:45his vision which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages it can sound very
31:50sex heavy but to know that the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship and how they
31:57connect um yeah i think that is i think that i think that's kind of you know for the first
32:02years
32:03of their life that's how they communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know that's
32:07not usually how sex is used in yeah yeah me dear i need hudson williams to know that so many
32:14people
32:15imagine draw right and read about him getting pregnant including me is that crazy oh he knows and even
32:23comments on yeah mara key to rivalry updates pointed this out to me i know when i learned that about
