00:47Hi guys! Oh my goodness, look at this weather for house hunting today.
00:51But it's not going to dampen our spirits, right?

00:54We have three amazing houses to look at today.
00:57A little bit of backstory quickly.

01:03Plus you run your own t-shirt business.

01:05Oh my goodness.
01:06So we need space for your truck and we need space for your business and the kids, right?

01:14We met back in 2008 through mutual friends but we reconnected when we were both in Vegas.
01:22Yeah, I was traveling through Vegas going to get another reload and I seen on Facebook she was down there
01:29with her grandma.
01:31I thought, you know what, maybe they want to go out on the strip tonight and grab a few drinks
01:36and we can hit the trail and go get a reload and come back to Canada.

01:43She turned me down.
01:44He just kept on messaging me until I met up with him so then I finally agreed to meet up
01:51with him and then we've been together ever since.
01:54We would like somewhere I can park the truck and do my regular maintenance, small repairs.

02:02A little bit of room to grow.
02:04A place for the kids to run.

02:06And somewhere maybe we can have a little funny farm.

02:13We're living in the city looking to just move more rural.

02:37High River is located just south of Calgary in southern Alberta.
02:42This cozy town is home to a thriving community built on its strong agricultural industry and historic roots.
02:49With plenty to do and see here, not to mention its proximity to Calgary, I know that Melissa, Dave, and
02:56their family will love living here.

03:05This is an amazing house.
03:06Six bedrooms.
03:07That would give you tons of space.

03:10What's your first thoughts on the color of this house?
03:12I like it.

03:19I'm more of like a neutral kind of color but it could grow on me, yeah.

09:21It was big and dark cabinets, how I like.
09:25And the gas stove was a really nice touch.

09:30It wasn't as open as I would like, but it still felt really cozy.
09:35In the living room, the wood stove was a little bit of a scary with the kids.

10:15I like the west facing window, but it's different without having an ensuite attached.

12:43On the wish list is room for Cody to service his truck and for Melissa to run her business.
12:50Both options we've seen so far have had just that and this house is no exception.

13:54It's a lot of white but with the mix of wood.

14:48It really was kind of a really nice centerpiece of what I thought.

16:29So there's this long deck here.
16:30You've got a railing for the kids.
16:32You can basically lock them up there while you sit and they can run around.
16:36So you would have to put a little bit of a fence in the backyard,
16:38but the grass is already so nice and green and just overall,
16:41it's just such a great property, right?

17:55I just had to stop and check out Evelyn's Memory Lane Diner.
17:59I was lucky enough to chat with David about what makes this town so special.
18:05I've been doing a little bit of research on this location.
18:08And it's really cute around here.
18:11Can you tell me a little bit about what it's like to actually live in this community?
18:14So it's High River, so it's a very small community.
18:17I come from a much larger one, like twice the size of this.
18:20We've built our own community over the years, just people we love and hang out with all the time.
18:25And of course, then we have community things like this place.
18:29We have Rec Center for Families.
18:31For almost every demographic, we have something going on for somebody here.
18:36So arts communities, like seniors communities, all of it.
18:40All of it.
18:41So now you are the blessed owner of this amazing sort of iconic diner at this point.
18:47Yes.
18:47And I feel like you are a staple of the community here.
18:51This has been here for 30 years, but myself and my business partner have only owned it for two.
18:55And we're the fourth set of owners for this location.
18:58I love that you have been able to like retain the history in here.
19:02And there's all sorts of pictures of people on the walls, celebrities, locals, all of that.
19:06And you've also got a really long standing menu here.
19:09But can you tell me what's the most popular thing here?
19:11I always go with the Saskatoon pie.
19:14All right.
19:14A lot of people come here for the Saskatoon because they've never had it before.
19:18Okay.
19:19And a lot of the tour, when we get the tourism season, it's the heartland community wants to come in.
19:23And they've seen this on TV and they want to try it.
19:26They want to know what all the gossip is about.
19:28They want to know what this pie is.
19:30You're going to have me very full by the time I leave for that.

19:40Melissa and Cody have now had some time to reflect and decide on the houses that we saw.
19:45I thought it would be a great idea for them to meet me at Evelyn's so I can hear their

19:53Well, we have had some fun times hanging out together looking at all three of these houses, even though Mother
19:58Nature wanted to sprinkle rain on us all day.
20:01You guys must have had some very interesting dinner conversation after you looked at those houses.
20:06It was a lot to take in.

20:10So let's think back on each of the houses.
20:12So house number one had like the most interesting coloured exterior, which you kind of liked and you were like,

20:20I definitely think it's something that would grow on me.
20:22And after seeing the other houses and the exterior, it's what's on the inside that really matters.

20:30Because they actually are all nice.
20:31But it was cosy.
20:32I really did like when we went outside, there was a backyard ready to go for small children.
20:41House number two was a very interesting property.
20:45It's not something we see all the time because it had so many different places you could have.
20:50Like it had a bunkie, it had potential income where someone could like rent one of the shop spaces, something
20:56like that.

20:59With an Airbnb, just even a couple weekends.
21:02Whether or not we wanted to do the work.
21:03Yeah, it would be a little bit of work to manage.

21:06But you did say the in-laws could stay in the building, right?
