00:01Which song is the freakyest? Good question. Take Turns, pretty freaky. Breathe, definitely freaky. Meta Night, freaky. Sideways, freaky.
00:21Yeah, there's a lot of songs in here that are freaky to answer your question. Tell us about the album
00:30cover, What's With The Leopard? I already did that, right? Did you get the inspiration for... Okay, yeah, we did
00:36that. Your daughter said I deserve a hi from you. I'm just following orders. All right, well, seeing as my
00:42daughter said it, hi. Hashtag Zayna Talk Shop Live.
00:47Brea C, was there anything new you learned about your heritage while making this album? I don't think there's anything
00:54new I learned about my heritage. I think it was just the idea of wanting to employ more of my,
01:03you know, my knowledge of my heritage and, you know, the things that have inspired me and put it into
01:08the music.
01:08Whenever I've put, you know, certain, like, Indian influence in certain songs, like I did it on Dust Till Dawn,
01:16which is probably one of my bigger songs, it feels like it instantly makes it like it's a me song,
01:24you know?
01:25And it's not just anybody. It has to be me singing that. So that's why I do it. And yeah,
01:33I didn't learn anything new about my culture. I just wanted to celebrate it more, for sure.
01:43Which track has the most of the conical technique? Nusrut probably, but then Betting Folk has it quite a bit
01:50in there, too. Prize has it in there. It's on a few. So yeah, but I'd say Nusrut's probably the
01:58heaviest. Yeah.
02:03What's the one question you wish people would ask you about this album, but haven't yet?
02:10Uh, did you enjoy making it?
02:13Um, I think people have asked me that, but I think that's always key, you know?
02:18Uh, if you're enjoying the process, uh, in the studio and that side of things, it feels like it always
02:24works better in the end up.
02:25So yeah, just definitely enjoyed making this record. Um, somebody wrote there, are you singing in Urdu on the album?
02:35I'm not singing on Urdu in the album. There's, um, some songs that I have, they're in the vault where
02:41I'm singing heavy, heavy Urdu. Um, but not for this, uh, I'll give you a little, little wink, you know
02:50what I mean?
02:50I mean, maybe there's another project for the, for the heavy Urdu and, uh, maybe even Punjabi, you know? Um,
02:58my, my father spoke both. So, um, we'll see.
03:10What position was being mentioned on Sideways? It's a very suggestive question. I think I know what you mean there.
03:17There was no position being suggested.
03:22You, you do with that what you will, but there's no specific position, just Sideways in, in the bed.
03:30Hi, Zen. My name is Bruna from Brazil. I'll be in the front row of your show in Brazil and
03:34my biggest dream is to be noticed by you.
03:36Could you send me a kiss? It would make my dream come true.
03:41Sure. I think I can respond to this.
03:44Keys.
03:49There you go.
03:53Talking about working with Malay. Yes, I was talking about working with Malay. Um, yeah, did a majority of the
04:00record with Malay. I had, uh, you know, a few songs on there already that were, uh, kind of on
04:05the future C record that I didn't do with Malay. Um, but yeah, the, the body of Connor Cole, like
04:12when we took it to that direction.
04:13Yeah, it was, it was pretty much me, Malay and, uh, Mickey, Mickey Echo was involved as well. Um, he's
04:19a great writer and he definitely helped the whole process.
04:30Do we get a saucy photo in the vinyl like in the mind of mine one? I think you do.
04:35I think you get an extra picture. Yeah. And there's some exclusive versions with certain people. And I, off the
04:41top of my head, I can't remember exactly where they are. I know there's one definitely in the Walmart, uh,
04:46special, um, that we've done with them.
04:48Uh, and there's, I think there's a picture in the vinyl too. Like, I think there's a big bottle in
04:53there.
04:57Is there a dress code for Tor? Not really. You, you guys can wear whatever you choose to wear. That's
05:06really up to you.
05:11Any plans for mind of mine anniversary? I don't actually have any plans. It is the anniversary of mind of
05:17mine today. Uh, mentioned that a couple of times. Uh, and, uh, thinking for video up today saying thank you.
05:24Um, yeah, it's weird, man. I'll be honest with you. I ain't got no plans, but it's weird that it's
05:29been 10 years. Uh, it doesn't feel like it's been that long.
05:33And it feels like it's been a very long time at the same time. So it's, it's a bit strange.
05:37You know what I mean? Um, but good feelings. Uh, I'm back. I'm here. We're in the right place at
05:44the right time. So yeah. Um, everything happens for a reason.
05:49Um, I'm going to do this now just because I'm looking through questions. Here's the album again.
06:08You're watching on talk shop live, click the shop button to watch on Facebook, comment the word shop for links
06:14to order. And if you're watching on YouTube,
06:16click the link in the description. Here it is. What do you think?
06:23Do you think I can get a QVC job? Not that bad, right? Just smile. Buy this.
06:32Please.
06:41Go real fast again. That slows down. Favorite song from Icarus Falls. Uh, there's, there's 40 songs on that,
06:51on the record. So it's hard for me to pick one. Um, but I did really like tight rope, uh,
06:59on,
06:59on, on Icarus falls, um, that has the, uh, Indian, uh, bridging at the John, John Vika John, uh, John,
07:08John Vika John.
07:12Um, so that would have definitely gone on this record if we'd have, uh, if we'd have not released it
07:18before.
07:18Um, but who knows? Maybe I can throw it in there, you know, on the tour, uh, as a little
07:24surprise song.
07:25We're going to be doing little things there and there. I'll be doing odd songs, you know,
07:29at certain shows that will only be for one show and then I'll mix it up and I'll do, you
07:34know,
07:34somewhere else, somewhere else that is, you know, still fun for people to listen to.
07:39Uh, cause I don't want it to be too repetitive. I want people to have different things, you know?
07:48Um, what risks did I take on this album that I might have not took before? Uh, I don't know
07:54if there's
07:54any specific risks. I just, um, really lent into what you guys wanted, you know? And I felt like
08:04for the first time in a minute, I was sure of what it was that you were responding to. So
08:09I just wanted
08:10to make a record that, you know, um, embodied that, I guess. Um, but they, I didn't, it didn't
08:17feel like it was risk taking. I I'll be honest. They just, it's felt fun.
08:24Any South Asian artists songs that inspired you? Yeah. There's loads. Uh, yeah. I don't even know
08:32where to start. Um, there's a song in, um, I think it's in Agnipath. Um, I think Son O'Niggum
08:41sings it. Can't remember the title of the life of me right this second. Um, but it's an amazing
08:48song. It's one of my favorite Bollywood songs. Um, yeah.
08:56It'll come back to me, the name of the song. Just can't remember right now. You know,
09:00that happens, right? Sometimes you just forget things.
09:11Does my daughter watch My Little Pony? Uh, can confirm. I don't believe she does.
09:19She's more of a Teen Titans Go Girl is my daughter. She likes, she likes the superheroes.
09:30Um, how have you worked to overcome anxiety? Interesting question. How not, uh, you know,
09:38uh, what the specific thing is. I think there's just been a general, uh, rehaul and, you know,
09:42my mental space of thinking about certain things. Um, and just trying to think, you know, more in a
09:47positive head space. Um, and, uh, you know, hope that that, um, you know, makes me, uh, feel more
09:55confident in certain situations. Uh, and it does, um, I feel a lot more like in control of things,
10:03uh, in the last few years in terms of, you know, the performance, being on stage, things like that.
10:08I was in a band, uh, for the, you know, five biggest years of my career. Um, and I was
10:14used
10:14to being stood on stage with other people. So that initial transition was a bit jarring for me and it
10:19was
10:20something I wasn't used to and maybe something I didn't feel like I had control over. So I think it,
10:25you know, spiked feelings of anxiety. Um, and since I feel like I've took the reins,
10:32the anxiety seems to have took a backseat. It's not, it's not a backseat driver either. It just
10:36doesn't really annoy me as much anymore. I hope that answers your question.
10:48Which song feels timeless to me, uh, on Conoco, this album right here, uh, is probably Blooming. Blooming
10:58has a real, um, eerie, beautiful thing going on, uh, similar to It's You, um, which is one of my
11:08favorite songs to sing on stage. Uh, if you've ever been to a show of mine, but whenever I sing
11:14that
11:14song, I always say, this is my favorite song. So I hope you enjoy it. Uh, and Blooming feels like
11:19that. It feels like it, it can live for a long time. Um, and, and always be beautiful. There's a
11:24lot of emotion in it. It's very well written. Um, and yeah, it's a song that I'm very proud to
11:30be representing.
11:35And when did you learn the conical technique? Conical techniques are used in a lot of music
11:42that I've listened to, um, from, from being a kid. Uh, I don't think I knew it was called conical
11:48then.
11:48Um, I just kinda, you know, uh, subconsciously just took it in. Um, so I don't know when I learned
11:55the
11:56technique to be honest, uh, probably when I was like five, six years old, listening to some music at a
12:01wedding.
12:10Kai heard the album. She has. She's heard bits of it. Some of it I have to like, you know,
12:16censor and
12:17bleep certain words out because I cuss a bit, uh, but she loves it. She thinks it's so cool. Uh,
12:24and, uh,
12:25whenever I say a swear word, she, she seems to, to find that quite cool too.
12:31Uh, cause you know, I have to be, uh, playing the dad role with her usually. So when she sees,
12:37oh, dad's singing this song and he say this word, I think it makes her have a little cheeky laugh
12:42to
12:42herself.
12:46There you go. That's the song. Somebody roll on the side for me there. I appreciate you.
12:51Yeah. That's the song. I love that song. It's a great song.
12:58Thank you.
12:59Harleen car.
13:03Can I say hi Ivy? Hello Ivy. How you doing?
13:09Um, yeah. So if you've got any other questions, uh, just whack them in comments.
13:16I'm going to do this again. Here's the album. Hey, if you're watching on talk shop live,
13:23click the shop button. If you're watching on Facebook, comment the word shop for links
13:27to order. And if you're watching on YouTube, click the link in the description, wherever that is.
13:33Now it is. Who knows? Um, are your five solo albums? Which one is your favorite? Lots of love.
13:40Kylie G. Um, my favorite album at this point, uh, it has to be kind of cool, you know? Um,
13:52and I know it sounds crazy cause I'm trying to plug this, but the truth is, uh, you know,
13:59there's a development with anything you're doing. And I've been doing this for a big part of my life
14:04now and, uh, you know, I'm sure a lot of people, um, would hope to progress, you know what I
14:13mean?
14:13In that way. And I feel like I have, um, I feel like my vocals are better, um, than they
14:18were on any
14:19of the other records and my, uh, writings better and, uh, the identities that, you know, I know what, uh,
14:26a Zayn song is now, um, as opposed to when I was doing mind of mine, uh, which was just
14:32the first project
14:33after the bond and it was just kind of me, you know, really starting to figure out like,
14:37where do I want to take this? And now it feels a lot more solidified. So I'll have to say
14:42Conoco.
14:45If Conoco was a movie, what kind of film would it be? Good question. Uh, I honestly don't know,
14:52you know, I think it'd be a high emotion, uh, driven movie. Uh, there'd be a lot of dramatics.
14:58Um, there'd be a lot of, uh, intense feelings, uh, cause that's what the album is giving off.
15:04Um, in terms of genre, I don't know where I'd put it. Uh, cause you could put all them attributes
15:09in any genre of movie. Um, it just really depends, I guess. Uh, it's definitely not a musical.
15:16I'll say that, but, uh, where it sits beyond that, I don't know. I couldn't give you an answer.
15:21A great question. How many songs have been cut from the album? Honestly, not too many. There was
15:30a few songs that were on the original record on, on Fuchsia that I took off there, but all the
15:35songs
15:35that I did with Malay, I think out of all the songs we did, I think like maybe three or
15:40four of them
15:41weren't used and the rest of them were. Yeah. What is the fifth element? It's weird that you asked that
15:48question. Uh, cause it's a song on the album, but also because yesterday when I got to New York,
15:53I was like stuck on TV and randomly fifth element was just playing on TV. And I was like, Hey,
15:59it's a sign fifth element could be anything, right? Like it's this idea that it's something that doesn't,
16:04you know, quite exist. Um, and you know, obviously in the movie, the themes are, um,
16:11you know, it's otherworldly set in the future. Uh, so I guess it was kind of like trying to tie
16:16into the Fuchsia C concept that I had, which was like, it's this idea of like, what's going to
16:22happen in the future, you know, in, in a weird entanglement thought for you there. But yeah,
16:28that's what I was thinking with it.
16:34Does Conoco have a deluxe? Yeah. There'll be a deluxe album. Yeah. With extra,
16:39extra songs on there for sure. Yeah. It's not, it's not fully shelled out yet. We're still picking
16:44out what them songs are going to be. Um, but yeah, we've got some, some idea. I think there's
16:49going to be like five extra songs on it. So I think I've got like three or four of them
16:53picked out
16:53already. Um, my phone's ringing. Um, I'm going to plug this one last time and then think I'm going to
17:02dip. I love you guys. Thank you for being here today. Uh, this is the album. Conoco. If you're
17:10watching on talk shop live, click the shop button. If you're watching on Facebook, comment the word
17:14shop for links to order. And if you're watching on YouTube, click the link in the description.
17:21Big love. See you later.
