China has imposed sanctions on Japanese lawmaker Furuya Keiji, who leads a cross-party Japan-Taiwan parliamentary group, saying that he has colluded with "Taiwan independence forces.” In response, Furuya said that visiting Taiwan is a natural part of his role as the parliamentary group's chair.
