00:01So everybody, willing Sebastian Vettel on I'm sure, still a very popular driver in Italy, goes 14th fastest, but now
00:09down to 15th as Bottas goes 11th quickest, Vettel still at risk as Joe goes 6th fastest, Sebastian Vettel's out
00:17at qualifying as Gasly goes 7th fastest, so Aston Martin have one driver out, they have two drivers out, both
00:23out in Q3 as Nick De Vries puts his Williams up into the top 12 here.
00:30In his first ever Formula One qualifying session, looks good doesn't he to make it out of Q1, Fernando Alonso
00:379th and let's now look at the two McLarens as Lewis Hamilton goes 9th fastest, Daniel Ricciardo needs to find
00:45pace and needs to find speed with his teammate Lando Norris, the right side of that relegation line, he'll take
00:51the chequered flag Ricciardo and he does move out of the bottom 5, Latifi goes into that bottom 5 and
00:57Andreas Seidel looks on from
00:59the McLaren pit wall, stares impassively at the screens as once again, his team not as fast as he would
01:06like them, but this time around both Norris and Ricciardo did make it out of Q1.
01:11So well done to Nick De Vries for getting out of Q1 in his first ever qualifying session, but his
01:16teammate Nicholas Satifi, Vettel, Stroll, Magnussen and Schumacher are all out.
01:23Bottas, Bottas, who was on the front row here in 2020, was third on the grid in 2019, trying to
01:30get himself out of the bottom 5 as Nick De Vries makes the tyres squeal and he's probably adding to
01:36that noise underneath the crash helmet himself.
01:39That is his qualifying over.
01:41Yeah, he locked the rear axle under heavy braking, the weight transfer I was telling you about earlier on and
01:46then you start downshifting and the back axle, it's like pulling the handbrake on basically.
01:50Sorry about that, I locked up the rears into turn 4.
01:55Bottas will be the next to cross the line, sees the chequered flag, stays sadly for him in that bottom
02:025, only by a few hundreds.
02:03His teammate Joe Guanyu for Alfa Romeo also in that bottom 5. Norris at risk, but one by one they're
02:10kind of falling by the wayside.
02:12His Pierre Gasly doesn't improve, stays 8th fastest. Lando Norris goes 7th fastest, puts some daylight between himself and that
02:18bottom 5 as Ocon now goes into it with Daniel Ricciardo into Q3.
02:23Fernando Alonso next to cross the line, 9th fastest for him. Esteban Ocon will take a 5 place grid penalty,
02:29crosses the line and he's not made it into the top 10.
02:34Pierre Gasly hasn't reached Q3 in any of the last 7 races, but the former winner for Alfa Tauri here
02:39has made it into Q3 only just this afternoon, 10th fastest.
02:46He's flying along Carlos Sainz in the second Ferrari with a penalty to come yet for power units of course,
02:52but he just looks quicker than Leclerc.
02:54He certainly does and has been a little bit quicker than Charles Leclerc in many of the recent qualifying sessions.
03:01He's only out qualified his teammate four times this year, but they've come quite recently as down the main straight
03:06we go with Carlos Sainz ahead of Charles Leclerc by just under a couple of tenths of a second.
03:14Verstappen will be next to cross the line, only third fastest for Max Verstappen.
03:20Lewis Hamilton goes sixth fastest for Mercedes, but what about his teammate George Russell who goes ahead of Lewis Hamilton
03:27and Lando Norris then slots somewhere in between the two Mercedes.
03:33Charles Leclerc, the man we're expecting after all the penalties have been applied to start from pole position, a little
03:39bit compromised on his warm up lap, but he's got it slowed down nicely for the first chicane.
03:4327 ones apiece in the first sector for Gasly and for Alonso Perez with a tenth of a second slower
03:50in his Red Bull, a 26.8 though for Carlos Sainz and a 27.0 for Lando Norris.
03:58But Charles Leclerc, 26.7, he's just a few thousandths of a second outside his target time.
04:04Yeah, he's been in all the right places on the racetrack as well, leaving a nice margin for track limits
04:11and pushing that one quite hard though.
04:15Now just ease it left, I think they're avoiding some bumps as well, particularly on the way down to Parabolica.
04:22The beautiful Ascari chicane and the crowd are cheering him on.
04:27Yeah, you can hear it and we can see the crowd standing up and applauding as they see Charles Leclerc
04:33acing that middle sector.
04:35Pierre Gasly has had a lap time deleted for exceeding track limits.
04:40Not helpful for him as Leclerc now will make his way down that back straight.
04:45Carlos Sainz increases his advantage out in front.
04:49Charles Leclerc crosses the line into the 1.20s.1.
04:54Charles Leclerc will put that Ferrari on pole here at Monza.
05:00Verstappen had a very fine middle sector and the crowd cheer as they realize that Leclerc has a better time
05:09than Max Verstappen
05:10and that it will be for pole for Ferrari here at Monza at their home Grand Prix.
05:17Charles Leclerc, for the eighth time this season, the first Ferrari driver since Michael Schumacher in 2004
05:23to take eight poles during the course of a season and for Ferrari a 22nd Italian Grand Prix pole.
05:31It was Charles Leclerc, it was always going to be Charles Leclerc and he's delivered for them.
05:36So B1.

05:53It's Leclerc on pole.
05:56George Russell I think is going to start on the front row alongside Charles Leclerc.
06:01Verstappen, Sainz, Perez, Hamilton all take penalties and will disappear from the top five promoting Russell and Norris and Ricciardo.
06:10Bye!
