00:00Hey, okay, let's start there then.
00:01Duke St. John's, 80-75 with about three minutes left.
00:05Pitino had a one-point lead in that game.
00:07What were your takeaways on that game?
00:09Well, I think, listen, people are going to talk about the kid Ruben Fray
00:12and he should have got more time.
00:15He had three threes in the first half, one in the second half.
00:17Folks, listen, Ruben had a great game, but you got Bryce Hopkins for a reason.
00:23You have the biggest player of the year in Zuby Echafor.
00:26You have Dylan Mitchell.
00:27You had your guys.
00:29You rode with him.
00:30Again, I understand what Pitino did because I've done it on the sidelines myself.
00:35His guard play was suspect.
00:37Jansen, Sandin, they were terrible, and that's how they lost him.
00:40Sellers were a little bit off, and they got away from what they needed to do,
00:43and I thought Zuby should have been better.
00:45But on the flip side, John Shire was masterful big sales,
00:49and I'm talking about masterful.
00:51High ball screen, and it could have been any combination between Evans,
00:56Foster, and Boozer, and it created downhill action,
01:00and then it created switches and mismatches,
01:03and John Shire kept going to it time and time again.
01:06And that's what's great about what these coaches do, like John Shire.
01:09When your game plan blows up, throw it away, fix it.
01:14He was at 55-47.
01:16He went to the high ball screen action when he got in half-court offense,
01:19and the rest was history.
01:20But, Sills, it's a shame that this was a Sweet 16 matchup.
01:24This had a Final Four intensity and a Final Four feel,
01:28and I still say that St. John should not have been in that region with UConn.
01:33I got to ask you, though, why is the culture at Duke continuing after Coach K
01:40and, say, the culture at UNC is not continuing?
01:44Because, to me, if you closed your eyes,
01:46you could have swore that Coach K was on the side there coaching that Duke team.
01:50It just looks like they've continued that culture there.
01:54Is that fair to say?
01:55Yeah, you could say that.
01:57Listen, at the end of the day, it makes those talent wins.
02:00And that bamboozled is one hell of a player with the rest of the Duke team.
02:05And I want to make sure I say this because I'm a coach,
02:08so I've been part of staffs that have been let go.
02:12I love Hubert Davis.
02:14I think he's a phenomenal person.
02:16I think he's a very good coach.
02:18But it's tough.
02:19You're a Carolina guy.
02:20Folks, Dean Smith, Bill Guthridge, Doherty, Matt Doherty, Roy Williams,
02:29Shuber Davis, in the last 50 to 60 years, they've had Carolina guys.
02:35It's time that they break the mold to go in from the Carolina tree,
02:39kind of like what they did with bringing in, obviously,
02:42Kevin Willard of Villanova for breaking the Jay Wright,
02:45Lurie Massimino tree you know about as well, Big Sills.
02:47Get the right coach, the right coach, folks.
02:51I'll go get.
02:52Go get Billy Donovan out of Chicago.
02:55They're rebuilding.
02:56It's a good fit.
02:57He's a college coach, and he's developed pros.
02:59And that's what matters in today's college game.
