00:16:53stepping to carmelo hayes has generally struggled to convert when they've taken these open challenges
00:16:59against the united states champion and wow what a close line there right into it again hooking the leg
00:17:05i mean can we talk about the latest instant classic against the mad dragon by hayes let's talk about it
00:17:13well you know trick williams isn't down that's what we do we talk about things that it was an absolute
00:17:16classic perhaps the smackdown match of the year so far last week but ultimately victorious was
00:17:22the united states champ but let's parallel that or contrast that with sammy zayn's experience last
00:17:29week taking on alistair black and one major distraction at ringside from trick williams caused
00:17:37sammy zayn to eat a black mass and take a major out yep and he's seated right back in that
00:17:43same position
00:17:44to watch sammy zayn and carmelo hayes here for the u.s championship and that might explain the
00:17:51cheap shot that sammy zayn took a trick williams a little during that conversation with nick old
00:17:57this is carmelo hayes looks to exacerbate the issues that sammy zayn has been experiencing really
00:18:05ever since the royal rumble when he lost that title match against then wwe champ drew mcintyre
00:18:11well after that hot start by sammy zayn all of a sudden carmelo hayes has found his rhythm
00:18:17springboard leg drop as hayes regains momentum
00:18:43three weeks to go to wrestlemania sammy zayn still trying to find a path there to wrestlemania
00:18:50meanwhile the u.s champion carmelo hayes week after week
00:18:55well i'll tell you right now taking on all challenges i've watched a ton of zayn's career
00:19:00from the indies through nxt and of course raw smackdown all the way to wrestlemania i have never
00:19:05seen a sammy zayn looking as desperate and at times lost as this version you can understand why
00:19:14when you consider where he's been in his career what he's accomplished and then the recent matches
00:19:19the recent frustrations we've been listening to those exchanges with cody rose backstage earlier
00:19:25tonight when he received the news from nick aldus about his circumstances surrounding wrestlemania
00:19:30and this is what sammy zayn does at his best trying to tap into the energy of this audience they
00:19:46clearly love what zayn can do however with that massively grown reputation carmelo hayes proving
00:19:53week in week out that he is going to be a tough test for anybody in the smackdown locker room
00:20:01incredible how much he delivers each and every week is sammy able to kick out after the snap suplex
00:20:09i mean one of the greatest movers i think i've ever seen battle to battle is carmelo hayes a man
00:20:14who is
00:20:14so creative so inventive and inventive really is that word you oh and that is where he is at his
00:20:22best
00:20:22i'll tell you nobody else on the roster could possibly pull that move off with accuracy
00:20:29taking a shot from downtown in the process he's a three-pointer but unfortunately it did
00:20:36not follow up with a three count for carmelo hayes the match grinds off
00:20:44very vocal crowd here in pittsburgh 12 700 plus at the home of the nhl's penguins but what are they
00:20:53saying
00:20:57well you know who they're supporting the presence of trick williams ringside gets a lot of attention

00:21:09and now you sense a little frustration starting to build in carmelo hayes who has been in control
00:21:14for large portions of the match but sammy zayn doing what sammy zayn always seems to do and refusing to

00:21:47by sammy zayn man who held that title sammy earlier tonight you see trick williams sitting
00:21:55ringside same as he was a week ago for a sammy zayn match trick williams found out he has a
00:22:00wrestlemania slot sammy upset to hear that he got the news there aren't current plans for him
00:22:05for wrestlemania but perhaps a title could change that if he could pull this off against carmelo hayes
00:22:11carmelo hayes has been looking pretty dominant in this one but once again sammy zayn fighting from
00:22:17underneath and managing when it looks like the chips are down to get himself back into the fight
00:22:24i mean has anyone in history been able to do that as much as sammy zayn seems to week in
00:22:31week out
00:22:31oh incoming oh and a heavy landing on the back of sammy zayn but that pales in comparison
00:22:39to the impact that us champ carmelo hayes just had to absorb
00:22:45take another look at a flying sammy zayn and a huge crash landing and staring daggers into trick
00:22:52willie at ringside they've already had one confrontation in the hallways tonight we're
00:22:58hoping there won't be a second one a la last week during the sammy zayn alistair black match
00:23:04now sammy put him on his backside earlier tonight
00:23:13oh the timing of hayes impeccable and sammy gets the left shoulder up what a bullseye on a moving
00:23:24target like that it's absolutely ridiculous that any human being can have the precision on a drop kick
00:23:32like we just saw from carmelo hayes this guy is just made differently and that is just one example
00:23:39of why carmelo hayes is him we've said it before we said it last week mellow makes moments
00:23:47as he slams it down with the tilt of world spinning face buster into the cover you can go ahead

00:24:09given so much but the wear and tear oh he was looking for first 48 but instead a magnificent
00:24:16encounter by zayn and melo survived so resourceful there was sammy zayn it looked like it was game
00:24:23over if that first 48 connected but zayn with a burst of power little pop up and a nice power
00:24:29bomb and
00:24:30melo living dangerously with a very late kick out and that's what it's all about the open challenge is
00:24:36alive and well but perhaps now swinging in the favor of zayn oh he's looking for halloufa but instead
00:24:43melo gets out of the way and delivers a kick of his own of course the open challenge and the
00:24:48pride
00:24:48in defending this u.s championship sammy zayn foundational to that both men now starting
00:24:56to struggle getting deep into the match bodies are hurting lungs are on fire and this is where
00:25:03instincts need to kick in the instincts of a champion and sammy zayn has previously held this title
00:25:10melo is on a generational run with it but can zayn pop this one to bed here
00:25:18sammy with melo in position and a superplex and now sammy as both men are down what a battle here

00:25:49this is what we've come to expect with the united states championship with the open challenge with
00:25:55competitors giving everything asked of them this has turned into the workhorse championship and there's a
00:26:01guy looking on who's looking to grab gold here on smackdown sooner or later giving a very close eye on
00:26:09recent nemesis sammy zayn of course trick and carl melo hayes have some major history fans of nxt will
00:26:16remind you of the trick and melo gang who simply ran things there in black and gold a couple of
00:26:22years ago
00:26:23both former nxt champions but right now it's all about sammy zayn and carl melo hayes
00:26:32did you hear that echo throughout this arena sammy's out zayn felt all of that and crumbled in a heap
00:26:42but again fighting back from the death wow seemingly always finding a way and melo able to get up at
00:26:50two and
00:26:51chain and that was just a textbook pin from sammy zayn stacked high hooking the legs almost no way to
00:26:58kick out unless you have that heart and drive of a champion like carl melo hayes
00:27:06and hayes is hurting here momentum just shifted back in favor of sammy zay
00:27:15keeps looking over that trick willy trick williams you've got to keep an eye on trick williams at all
00:27:20times in part because he may attack you but in part because he looks so damn cool
00:27:27pretty sure that's not the reason sammy's looking over but maybe it is for you trick willy like that
00:27:38sammy trying to gather his last bits of energy trying to bring this thing down the stretch but
00:27:46instead carl melo looking to counter back and forth they go center of the ring fighting for position
00:27:53and it is carl melo who gets the best of it but still he's given a lot nice twisting cutter

00:28:20teach sammy zayn how to be a bigger star and that offer was thrown back in the face of trick

00:49:31for Tiffany Stratton. No doubt about it, that match that you mentioned
00:49:35from a couple weeks ago, Julia attempted to interfere with Tiffany Stratton in that
00:49:39James with that match with Kiana James. And look, Julia
00:49:43may play it down but anybody who has been watching
00:49:47WWE for the past couple years knows full well that Tiffany Stratton
00:49:52is more than capable of taking a championship from anyone
00:49:56on the roster on any given night. So
00:49:58I don't blame Julia for
00:50:00not really wanting to have any part
00:50:02of a potential title defense
00:50:04against Tiffany Stratton.
00:50:06Of course over 300 days as the WWE Women's Champion.
