00:00It pains me when people are like, ballet's not a sport.
00:02I'm like, it is the most intense sport.
00:04There was a scene where one of our lovely ballet doubles
00:10was having to do flotte, is that flotte?
00:15Flotte on point.
00:17And obviously we have an amazing crew,
00:20but a lot of people don't understand how painful it is.
00:24And they had her doing, I mean, more takes.
00:28So many takes.
00:30And I just saw these tears in her eyes.
00:33And she just kept fighting through it.
00:35And she was like, yep, let's go.
00:36And she just would keep going.
00:37And she was so tough.
00:39And I just thought, I'm over here complaining
00:41about just walking in the pointe shoes.
00:44Like, that is tough.
00:46That is beyond.
00:47And I had a lot of respect for them.
00:51I mean, I already did.
00:52Ballerinas are the strongest athletes in the world.
00:55Like, it pains me when people are like, ballet's not a sport.
00:57I'm like, it is the most intense sport,
00:59not only physically, but mentally.
01:01You have to put yourself in the craziest mindset.
01:04And you have to be so determined and so resilient
01:07and push through pain day after day.
01:10And I think the juxtaposition of, like, on the surface
01:13or to the world, ballet is this fragile, delicate thing.
01:18And it's beautiful and graceful and light.
01:20But really, you're putting yourself through so much
01:23to get that result.
01:27And, yeah, I think it's, I'm so happy that we have a dance movie
01:30that actually highlights the reality of ballet,
01:33because it is all of those things put into one.
01:36.
01:36.
