00:16Grazie a tutti!
00:30Iconic melee attacks, and explosive gunplay to offer something truly unique.
00:34Hello, beautiful!
00:36We wanted to challenge ourselves.
00:38We wanted to expand and really push ourselves in terms of making something new and fresh.
00:43Light him up!
00:43When first introduced, the free-foad combat of Batman Arkham Asylum broke new ground
00:47and set a standard that is still popular today.
00:50In that spirit, the Rocksteady team decided to delve into new mechanics.
00:53If you're playing solo, you have the power to make combat in our game unique to you
00:57while making your way through our story campaign.
01:00If you decide to play co-op with fans, you can each become an expert with your play style
01:04and customised builds, creating a powerful squad unlike any other.
01:08Each person can offer a different benefit to the play experience.
01:12We're super excited to see those sort of team play synergistic effects happen.
01:17You want a high five?
01:18Up high!
01:18In the Suicide Squad, the world, the narrative, all our features evolve through the lens of DC lore.
01:25Fans for the DC Universe are going to be really excited for this.
01:28Not only are we bringing characters back that we've used in the Arkham series,
01:32but we're introducing new ones.
01:34You can call me Colonel Rick Flag.
01:36We want players to feel like they explored the DC Universe with us.
01:41Not just through the story, but also through the mechanics.
01:47No lasso? You gotta be kidding me.
01:53In this episode, we'll meet some of the iconic DC characters
01:56who will be helping our antiheroes to take on their impossible mission.
01:59Awesome!
02:00Through conversations with our team, our voice cast, and our play testers,
02:03along with extended gameplay,
02:05we'll give you a preview of some of the amazing new possibilities
02:07we're excited about with Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.
02:12Wait.
02:13Which superheroes did you say you were against?
02:16This is Suicide Squad Insider, Episode 2.
02:25The RPG systems are the connective tissue inside of the game.
02:29Things like weapon customisation, talent customisation,
02:32things that really let players get into how they want their character to play.
02:37Now, let's begin.
02:39We built this game with near limitless strategic and personal options.
02:45Players craft their own character within a character.
02:49Everyone can pick not only their favourite,
02:51but really make a character that's their own.
02:53There's really high skill-sealing mechanics in this game
02:56where as you learn to traverse,
02:57as you learn to combine your character's abilities more and more,
03:00you become better,
03:02your character becomes stronger,
03:03and in the story of the game,
03:04you're taking on stronger and stronger threats.
03:07We have this perspective of always tying back to the narrative,
03:11and always giving context around new mechanics.
03:13With the DC world out there,
03:15it just gave us unlimited potential.
03:17With the Arkham games,
03:18you could modify some elements of Batman himself.
03:20We knew early on going with an action shooter
03:22was an opportunity to go down a new path
03:25and try out new mechanics with a new topic of game.
03:29Someone's been busy.
03:31How'd you have time to make all this?
03:32In our last episode,
03:34we showed the Suicide Squad recruiting the Penguin for Argus.
03:37Okay, Waller.
03:38We bag Penguin.
03:40He goes back to the Hall of Justice
03:42to start helping the squad out.
03:43I'm taking authority.
03:45Since we last showed you the Justice League HQ,
03:48it's had a makeover from Anna Waller and her team,
03:50and it's now the forward operating base
03:52for Argus' fight against Brayden.
03:56So when considering gameplay,
03:58we knew we needed an arms dealer.
04:00You need a good gun runner.
04:02For us, it's been great to bring Penguin back from the Arkham days.
04:05We love working with this character.
04:06What he gives you is lots of options
04:09for upgrading individual weapons, crafting.
04:12It feels like you're actually interacting with Penguin,
04:14when you're crafting these items.
04:16And that's really where Penguin as a character
04:18comes to life in the game.
04:20You get to build them up,
04:21creating some really unique combinations,
04:23and you can play the game in a way that's unique to you.
04:28We have weapons based on different manufacturers.
04:31Star Labs, we have Amertech, we have LexCore, we have DCPD,
04:34and they all come with different flavors.
04:36Lex is a very scientific man, right?
04:38The guns are very scientific in nature.
04:39They have very specific recoil patterns and spread patterns,
04:42almost like they are calculated.
04:43Then we have Amertech,
04:44which is more improvised weaponry.
04:47Really fast fire rates, high ammo capacity,
04:49but it kicks like a donkey.
04:50And once you've unlocked those manufacturers,
04:52you can go to Penguin and ask him
04:53to sort of craft specific weapons in those manufacturers.
04:56Different guns will play with different styles.
04:58Maybe you've got a Deadshot focused on critical hits,
05:00on headshots.
05:01That might mean that you want to favor a legendary gun
05:03which works with that play style.
05:05Nice, nice, nice!
05:08Penguin is only one member
05:09of what we call the support squad.
05:11Toot toot scumbags!
05:13They're various supervillains
05:15that the squad have begged, stolen, or borrowed from.
05:19For players who just want to play through the story,
05:21they'll get the full arsenal
05:22to be able to take on the Justice League.
05:24But for players who really want to sort of maximize their characters,
05:27the support squad missions unlock really cool features.
05:29Our designers have put a lot of effort into making sure
05:32that when you play the game,
05:33you can have a very different experience from someone else.
05:36Let's meet the rest of the support squad.
05:38Here we can see the scientist Gizmo,
05:40who has set up shop in the basement of the Hall of Justice.
05:43Yeah, perfect.
05:44Wait now.
05:44His primary contribution to the squad
05:46is the sort of airdropped vehicles
05:48that you can use for combat.
05:50You're getting into this flying vehicle
05:52with rockets and a turret
05:54and sort of blow shit up.
05:56And the havoc you can create is outstanding.
05:59Each character from the DC universe
06:01offers the player a different way of interacting with the game.
06:04I've been trying on the name Toy Man.
06:07More like Annoy Man.
06:09Am I right?
06:11Toy Man is one character that helps you actually
06:13figure out ways of defeating the Justice League.
06:16He's a tech boy genius
06:18who wants nothing more than to help save Metropolis.
06:21He can't quite come to terms with the fact
06:23that his heroes are now the villains.
06:26Changing stuff is my middle name.
06:30You can unlock more and more things you can do with Toy Man
06:34to enhance your gear.
06:35If you want to really perfect your gear
06:38to really suit how you like to play the game,
06:40Toy Man's the character to talk to.
06:43I'm Hack.
06:44Hack is this sort of electronic astral projection.
06:47Anything that has electricity, Hack can manifest through.
06:51By working with Hack and increasing your talent points
06:53over the course of the game,
06:54you can unlock a whole myriad of different abilities.
06:58For example, with Harley, you can increase her grenade damage.
07:01Thank you!
07:02Alongside the talent tree,
07:04we have what we call the combat combo system.
07:06As you're doing these more intricate moves,
07:08you build up your combo faster,
07:10and the higher that combo is, the more talents you activate.
07:12Ah, that's tough love!
07:15Hack also uses her abilities
07:16to literally hack Brainiac's comms,
07:19so you get to listen in on what the Justice League is talking about,
07:22and you also get to hear their sort of corrupted personalities
07:24and how different they are from the heroes you once knew.
07:27We have complete control, Brainiac.
07:29Now let's talk about one more member of our support squad.
07:32Another infamous DC villain
07:34that Director Waller once recruited.
07:41At this point in the game,
07:42the squad has discovered evidence
07:44that Poison Ivy may be alive.
07:46Ivy?
07:47Poison Ivy?
07:49Dead Poison Ivy after Scarecrow gave Gotham a crop, Dustin!
07:53For fans who pay close attention to Arkham Knight,
07:55they will remember that when Poison Ivy died,
07:58she left behind a little sprout.
08:00I got a real strong hunch
08:02she ain't pushing up daisies no more.
08:04And in this game,
08:06you discover that that Sproutling has been cared for
08:08by some people who may have had their own motivations for doing so,
08:11but in the chaos of Metropolis, she's escaped.
08:14Find her.
08:15Bring her to me for questioning.
08:17Using special technology they've acquired,
08:19the Suicide Squad is tracking Ivy back.
08:21If Ivy's in the seat,
08:23this tracker will lead you to her.
08:24Unless y'all want to end up a poorly-flated spring mix,
08:28you better put me in charge and let me talk to Ives first.
08:31So in playing solo,
08:32players can switch between any of the characters,
08:35and you'll get to experience all the different playstyles
08:38across all of the different missions.
08:40And here we go!
08:46So here she is!
08:49Thought she'd be taller.
08:51Are you serious right now?
08:53Poison Ivy is a redhead.
08:55This is a plant.
08:57You might be the dumbest.
08:58Ah!
09:28Ah!
09:30There's my...
09:34...girl?
09:39She is not made of meat.
09:41Is this what you call a vegetarian option?
09:45I don't know you, but...
09:47...my pheromones remember you.
09:51Oh, strange emotions.
09:53Tell me about it. Wasn't expecting you to come in fun-size.
09:58You really don't know me?
10:00Harley and Ivy forever?
10:03In ten-story burning letters?
10:10Nope.
10:13Geez.
10:14Lex Lex Corp really did a number on you, huh, Red?
10:17He dressed you up in that outfit, too?
10:20No.
10:21I took it.
10:22When I broke out.
10:24He shut me in a room in his tower.
10:27If I worked on the things he wanted, I got a whole hour of sunlight every day.
10:33What did he want?
10:34Weapons.
10:35Making them more effective against the alien invaders.
10:39You know, they're very susceptible to plant toxins.
10:41And, um, I know all about plant toxins.
10:45We know.
10:46That's why they call you Poison Ivy.
10:51It's just Ivy.
10:54Weirdo.
10:55Where's Lex now?
10:57I don't know.
10:58Something spooked him, I guess.
11:00He got in his big robot suit and stomped off.
11:04Ooh, I know that look.
11:06Who are you murdering?
11:08The corrupted things that are coming.
11:10All of them.
11:11They're poisoning the earth with their gross bodies.
11:14So I lured them here.
11:23The wrath of nature.
11:25I like it.
11:26Oh, this is my friend Daphne.
11:29We'll make all the aliens choke to death on spores.
11:31You make sure Daphne doesn't die.
11:33Or you're next.
11:36Waller, be advised Lex is AWOL in a power suit.
11:39And Ivy's an eco-terrorist middle schooler.
11:41Dead shot out.
11:42How'd we end up hugging a giant plant?
11:46I have allergies.
11:49Anyone care?
11:54Here's a brief look at the mission that follows your first encounter with Ivy.
11:59You'll see a variety of custom builds and loadouts that draw on the power of DC villains.
12:06Ivy's plans need protection.
12:08Split up your squad to attack from different directions.
12:11Our asses won't get kicked just standing here.
12:14Now go defend!
12:17Combat in this game revolves around three core pillars.
12:20Traversal, gunplay and melee.
12:24Someone like Deadshot can take a vantage point.
12:27Can provide cover fire.
12:33You can find wild ways to upgrade your melee attacks.
12:37With the Great Suspender, a single boomerang can launch several enemies off the ground.
12:44A job worth doing right!
12:49Harley's gun is from the Bane's Rage Set.
12:52Landing a critical hit spawns a power-up that can infuse other weapons like grenades with Bane's Rage.
12:59Making them more powerful.
13:01Get the invaders locked at me!
13:03Quickly!
13:04Those aliens pollute everything!
13:07King Shark's loadout here includes Black Mask's Bulletstorm and the Heatwaste Molten Shield to synergize.
13:13He has triggered the Bulletstorm effect, which means that he's now immune from damage thanks to the Heatwaste Molten Shield.
13:19Making this a perfect opportunity to get in close.
13:26Savor it!
13:30This mission is where we introduce Afflictions.
13:32Elemental attacks from Ivy's plants that draw on the powers of different DC villains.
13:37Use an Affliction to freeze your enemies before you deliver an explosive finale.
13:44Task Force S, report!
13:46Task Force S, report!
13:48Have you secured Ivy?
13:52Yeah, kind of a funny story.
13:56Although she doesn't remember her old life, Ivy is still a deadly expert with toxins as she can offer your
14:02builds on an interesting new feature, Afflictions.
14:04The results are so neat!
14:07When you manage to recruit her, she comes back to the Hall of Justice as kind of like a loose
14:12cannon, precocious toddler who also has terrifying genetic engineering powers.
14:17Then we introduce the concept of Afflictions.
14:20Players can apply these Afflictions to their melee weapons, their grenades, so they can mix and match different things for
14:26the encounter.
14:27And each Affliction ties back to a DC character.
14:30So we have four Afflictions. Diablo Blaze sets people on fire, burns them over time.
14:35But you can't shield harvest them. We have Deep Freeze, freezes people.
14:38You can shatter them with your guns, but they are pretty resistant to melee damage.
14:42They won't drop ammo when they die.
14:44At any point, you could have up to two different elemental Afflictions, then add in the three other players.
14:48So what you've got there is lots of different ways to engage with enemies.
14:54Your fight is far from over.
14:57So at Rocksteady, what we sort of pride ourselves on is investigating how players play.
15:02Do they get the language that we're trying to create?
15:04We had an amazing opportunity to get a group of proper gamers from the community involved in the development process
15:10pretty early.
15:10Some of the characters, the mission types join the story.
15:13I'd definitely say this has got a Rocksteady stamp on it.
15:16The experience of Suicide Squad because of Justice League is really fluid, really smooth, and it feels really polished.
15:21It's chaos, but in a good way.
15:23It's very fast and very momentum based, and I think there's a lot of verticality to it.
15:29No other game that makes you feel so free and powerful.
15:33Yes!
15:34You also have this deep building of your character with a more superhero twist.
15:40For example, I kind of gravitated towards Dead Shark because I'm a big fan of shooting guns and big crit
15:46builds.
15:46You can use the juggling mechanic to get 100% for a chance, and then from there, do big damage.
15:51The knowledge that we gained, seeing players explore the mechanics, gave us like a little taste of what it's going
15:57to be like when we got like a bigger community to share the game with.
16:01Nelson, how about a team up?
16:03In the studio made the Arkham series, we were very much focused on single character, single perspective.
16:09And with this game, we saw that opportunity to get the community more involved.
16:14For us, it was about expanding and enhancing into something new and different, and we wanted this experience to be
16:20shared with more than just one person.
16:23One of the coolest experiences in the game is when you're playing with friends and each character can tackle the
16:30problems that you're facing together differently.
16:33You are learning how to overcome challenges together.
16:37All these characters are geared up to be able to complement each other.
16:41Because each of them is moving differently, sometimes another character might come in from a direction you don't expect.
16:46You can create unintentional cinematic moments with your friends.
16:51When you really are in sync with your squad, it's such a special feeling, and I think something I haven't
16:57experienced in any other game.
16:59Multiplayer is new for the studio, but it's super exciting because we get to see Rocksteady Hallmarks of a story
17:05-driven game, but from multiple perspectives.
17:07And getting to share that with your friends is pretty unique.
17:11We hope you enjoyed episode two of Suicide Squad Insider.
17:14Ew, I need a smoke.
17:17I need more therapy.
17:19In our next episode, we'll take a look at what you can expect from our game after launch.
17:23This is the biggest cinematic experience that Rocksteady has ever created with more hours of cinematic cutscenes than ever before.
17:30But I think we leave the setting of our story open enough that for post-launch content, players will be
17:36excited to come back and find out what we're gonna do next.
17:38You, uh, wanna talk about it?
17:41Know what, Quinn?
17:43I do.
17:45I don't think players are ready for the new playable characters they're gonna get, or even the places they're gonna
17:49get to take them.
17:49This game is much bigger than the world of the Suicide Squad.
17:54Rocksteady will continue to build on the story.
17:56We're delivering you a full game, but for those that wanna go further, we're gonna have lots of new updates
18:01that are free to our players.
18:02And we really wanna engage with our community with the new experiences regularly.
18:06At the end of the game, everyone goes, wow, this was a hell of a ride.
18:13Let's play again.
18:15Let's play again.
