Draymond Green walks off after passionate reaction to Victor Wembanyama making case for MVP #nba #nbahighlights #usa
Transcript
00:00Wemby recently said he should be the MVP frontrunner and listed three reasons why.
00:04One of those being that 50% of the game is defense.
00:08And Draymond was asked about Wemby vocalizing his MVP case and had a must-see passionate reaction.
00:15I hated it.
00:16And I absolutely loved it.
00:19And the reason is because...
00:22The reason I hated it is because until Wemby said defense is 50% of the game,
00:28it was like, oh, man, no one realized that?
00:32Right?
00:32Like, no one realized that 50% of the game we play is on that end of the floor?
00:37So he comes out and makes this profound-ass statement, and it's like, oh, of course it is.
00:44And everybody's like, oh, man, he has a great point.
00:46Hello?
00:49You think?
00:52So I hated it because he had to do that for that to then be said.
00:55And all of a sudden, you turn on TV, and everybody's like, actually, maybe Wemby is the MVP.
01:01And I can agree with that.
01:03Maybe he is.
01:05But the fact that he has to come out and remind people, hey, y'all, see what I do over
01:08there?
01:10It's like an indictment on the game of basketball.
01:14And everybody, you know, talk all of this stuff about, oh, man, you got to play both sides.
01:20And everybody want to crush Luka Doncic when Luka doesn't live up to the standard of defense.
01:25But we got this guy defending entire teams, and no one took it into account until he said, well, number
01:33one, defense is 50% of the game.
01:38I want to give him so much credit for such a profound statement, but honestly, was it really that profound?
01:48But it's so true.
01:50And yet it took for him to say that, for everybody to say, oh, man, he's right about that.
01:57And so that's, you know, that's a little bit of it.
02:03And yet and still, I love what he said.
02:08But there's some doubt.
02:10My goal is by the end of the season, there's no doubt.
02:13Like, I love the way he was approaching it.
02:15And the reality is I said I hate it.
02:18But I'm just telling you, man, in these awards, if you don't talk, people can't see.
02:22You know, you're talking a game of basketball.
02:25It's not act like everybody can just open their eyes and know what's going on.
02:30We know that's not the case.
02:33So when you're talking these awards, I know everybody's like, oh, man, you said this or such and such said
02:39this about themselves.
02:42Until Evan Mobley finally said something last year, nobody was going to give him defensive player of the year.
02:47Then he finally said something.
02:50He's like, oh, all right, maybe we'll take a look.
02:55So the reality is if you don't come out and speak for yourself, it don't work.
03:03And I tip my cap to Wimby for being willing to sit up there on that platform and say this
03:14is why.
03:15Not hide from the question.
03:16Not say, oh, man, they'll figure it out.
03:18No, they won't.
03:19I'm happy he's smart enough to know.
03:21They won't figure it out.
03:23You don't help them see it?
03:26Dammit, they can't see.
03:28Got blinders on.
03:30Because I don't know how people don't see this.
03:32Seven, six, whatever you'd like to describe him as chasing a guard around a three-point line and then somehow
03:45get back to the rim to block.
03:47I don't know how that's hard to see.
03:50That's not difficult to see.
03:54Some cases on defense, you say, oh, man, the stats ain't there.
03:57Wimby block shots.
03:59So even if you can only see the stats, well, this guy blocks everything.
04:06So say we don't see it because of the stats.
04:10Well, there's no excuse for this one.
04:12So maybe the conversation needs to be had again.
04:15Why do people not appreciate defense?
04:21But then everybody throw out these things of, oh, man, you know, we want to see the game played a
04:26certain way.
04:26No, the hell y'all don't.
04:28You don't want to see the game played a certain way.
04:30What you want to see is someone score the basketball because here's a guy that had to say, hey, man,
04:35it's 50% of the game to get his point across.
04:39I got one.
04:40I got one.
