00:00Hello, I'm Angela Scanlon and welcome to Unfinished Business, the show that offers you the best deals on The Apprentice
00:06exclusives.
00:07Coming up, I'll be speaking to the candidates who paid a heavy price in the TV selling task, Levi and
00:13Connor.
00:14Lord Sugar discusses the deal of the day he made with Kieran and we've got a two for one on
00:18special guests.
00:20Series 18 candidate Trey Lowe and presenter Lauren Layfield.
00:24This is The Apprentice Unfinished Business.
00:31Welcome to the show, Lauren and Trey.
00:35How are you?
00:36Yeah, all right, thanks.
00:37Good, good. Listen, before we get stuck into the task, let's remind ourselves of Kieran's unexpected boardroom offer.
00:45If I stay in this process, I would like to be the project manager on task 10 to prove to
00:49you what I can do.
00:51If I lose, we shake hands, I walk out.
00:53Right. That's very interesting.
00:57Interesting indeed.
00:58Connor's eye roll.
01:00I fell that deep in my soul.
01:02I think I did the exact same reaction when I watched it.
01:04Did you?
01:05Okay, so do we think it was brave or foolish?
01:07I think it was desperate.
01:10Mm, fine.
01:11I think he'd already been PM.
01:13He's done it again.
01:14Yeah.
01:14You can't be asking for a third go.
01:16That's just cheeky, cheeky boy behavior.
01:18How do you reckon?
01:19Yeah.
01:20Worked, though.
01:21Well, it did work and you said that's what people need to do.
01:24When you're in the bottom three, you're fighting for everything.
01:27Yeah.
01:27And in a way, you're showing qualities that Lord Sugar actually wants to see.
01:31Determination, tenacity, etc.
01:32I think it was genius and it worked.
01:34It worked.
01:35Well, let's hear what Lord Sugar thinks.
01:37He's left me another voice now, hasn't he?
01:39Don't get jealous.
01:40Direct line.
01:41Hi, Angela.
01:43Hello, sir.
01:44I've got to give it to Kieran.
01:45He made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
01:49He may have saved him this time, but it's a big risk.
01:53I'm not sure a calculated one.
01:56We know he can talk the talk, but if it comes to it, will he walk the walk?
02:03Ooh.
02:04Dun, dun, dun.
02:05Do we think he'll be walking?
02:08Honestly?
02:09I think he will.
02:10I think he will.
02:10Do you reckon?
02:12The thing is, you've got no more chances now.
02:15You are literally last chance saloon.
02:17And that's a lot of pressure.
02:19I mean, the task itself for pressure on its own.
02:21But knowing that your neck is on a chopping block, yeah, I can't see him.
02:25Let's talk TV selling, right?
02:26An absolute fan favourite.
02:28In a nutshell, did they live up to expectations?
02:31No, not from my point of view.
02:34Dress it up.
02:36I'll only say really, because when I say compare it to our year,
02:40and I thought our year wasn't necessarily, oh, my God, amazing.
02:43But if I look at the figures, we may double what they did.
02:45And it's only two years apart, so you would expect them to get fairly close to what we did.
02:49I think one of the issues as well was just the level of silence.
02:52Like, there was no feedback from the gallery.
02:54They were kind of flapping about, you know, I was expecting them to do a lot better than they did.
02:59The silence was deafening at points.
03:01Yeah.
03:02But also, equally, in previous performances with this very selling task,
03:08sometimes that gallery has been loud.
03:11True.
03:11Chaos.
03:11I've done live TV, lots of it.
03:14And let me tell you, if you can hear, like, five voices screaming at you in your ear,
03:19and you're trying to talk down a camera lens, it is so disorienting.
03:24So true.
03:25You know, they've never done it before.
03:26And I remember doing my very first audition for television,
03:29and it was basically that.
03:30And having people talk in your ear, you just don't know what's going on.
03:33So sometimes I go, yeah, they were pretty rubbish.
03:36But also, I go, you know what, it's a really hard thing to do.
03:40See, five voices in my head on any given day, that's a quiet day for me.
03:43Yeah, yeah, I imagine.
03:44If you've got kids, then it's probably pretty normal.
03:47No, I mean internally, babe.
03:49Internal voices are louder than anyone else's.
03:52Trey, you were PM for this task.
03:54Shall we remind ourselves of yours?
03:56Oh, God, please don't show this.
03:57We are now dropping the price, guys.
03:59Now it's going crazy.
04:01An incredible, an incredible £59.99.
04:06Tell them, Trey, we've got callers on the line.
04:08We can see you there.
04:09Place your order.
04:11So we've got Tracy on the line, and she's asking about...
04:14Not Tracy.
04:15That'll do.
04:15That'll do.
04:15You're right, Tracy.
04:16Tracy, Tracy.
04:17Come on in, Tracy.
04:18Okay.
04:19That's iconic.
04:20You guys need to burn and bury that footage forever.
04:23But in my defence, I couldn't hear a thing.
04:25Chaos.
04:26I was literally the first one on.
04:28You just couldn't hear anything.
04:29So I'm just like, right, I've got to wing it.
04:30And you are winging it when you don't really know what you're doing.
04:32But also the energy.
04:34There was energy.
04:35It was, like, quite intoxicating.
04:37Yeah.
04:38Well, there was strong competition, okay, for the project manager positions this week.
04:42Pasha nabbed the top spot for Team Alpha and Connor for Team Eclipse.
04:46Pasha came dressed for the job, right?
04:48She was not messing about.
04:49How do we think she handled her first time as PM?
04:53I think she did okay.
04:54What I would say is that I think Karishma really wanted to lead on this task.
04:59And so...
04:59I mean, she was leading anyway, wasn't she?
05:01There was a slight pulling of the strings behind the scenes, I thought.
05:04So, yeah, she did a good job.
05:05She got the win.
05:06That's all that matters, right?
05:07She was pretty good in the gallery as well.
05:09She was, you know, we saw a couple of performances where it was literally tumbleweed.
05:13She was quite vocal.
05:14She gave good feedback, and sometimes that feedback makes the difference between a win, really,
05:18because I could sell one or two items.
05:20She was good.
05:20I thought she was great PM for her first time as well.
05:22And sold eight flossers.
05:24Yeah.
05:24In spite of her performance.
05:26That was unbelievable.
05:27It was comedy gold, though, isn't it?
05:29First you put all this green on your teeth, and then you've got a flosser that goes in your face.
05:32It was brilliant.
05:33The tub of spinach that was brought in.
05:35Amazing!
05:36So much spinach for one season.
05:37It was like just sticking it on her teeth, and you're like, I love her.
05:41Yeah, it was effective, some might say.
05:46Karishma, a little annoyed that she wasn't overseeing the task, as you alluded to.
05:50Although it was the first week that maybe we saw Karishma not really excelling.
05:55Yeah, true.
05:56You know, you would have expected her to have aced that.
05:58She had, you know, more...
06:00She just generally has been better than everyone.
06:02But then she went into this whole history of the country, and where it's from, and how it's mine.
06:07And I'm just thinking, sell it.
06:09There's someone at home who wants to buy it.
06:11And also, when she was in the gallery, she was very quiet.
06:15Very quiet.
06:15Now, I've got a theory that when you get to sort of these later stages of this process,
06:20do you start behaving a little bit tactically?
06:23Sorry, you were saying she was in sabotage.
06:26Maybe.
06:27Because she didn't get PM, she may have been sort of slightly trying to undermine that on-screen performance.
06:34Potentially.
06:34I like where your brain is going.
06:37Devious.
06:37Naughty, naughty.
06:38Let's move on to Team Eclipse, right?
06:40When it came to product selection, Conor put a lot of trust in Rothna and Dan to pick the jewellery.
06:47He kind of, you know, danced around going for the mid-range item.
06:52And Rothna was vocal, I think, about the fact that she said he lacked clarity and he didn't direct them
06:58kind of enough.
07:01Was that, like, her trying to shirk responsibility or how do we feel?
07:05It wasn't clear, like, go for this, fight for this, no matter what, beat the other team so we get
07:09the best possible item.
07:10She was right about that.
07:11What is a mid-range, what is a high-priced item?
07:15Well, that's it.
07:15Because I reckon, probably, a mid-range item to me might be a bit of a low-range item to
07:21Trey because he's on the old architect's money.
07:23Do you know what I mean?
07:24It's all, like, relative, right?
07:26It's all relative, exactly.
07:29Let's discuss the on-screen performances generally.
07:33Star sellers, who stood out?
07:34Dan, obviously, like, yeah, cleaned up for me.
07:36I thought he was brilliant.
07:38And unexpected, I would say unexpected.
07:40Kieran was initially very excited about selling the yoga mats, right?
07:43He was like, yeah, get me, get me in there.
07:46He thought then, last minute, that he should be placed on the higher item, and Conor absolutely disagreed, OK?
07:54What do we make of their dynamic?
07:56It's been bubbling, I would say, for a number of weeks.
07:59It was frosty, wasn't it?
08:01It was.
08:01Real frosty.
08:02It almost felt a bit personal, isn't it?
08:04I think Conor was thinking, yeah, if it goes wrong, I'm going to throw him under the bus.
08:07Yeah.
08:07You've got a sense of that.
08:08Because how are you going to sell a yoga mat?
08:10It's not that easy to sell.
08:12So it's quite, and I think at this late stage, you are actually thinking, if we lose, generally, that is
08:16a strategy for some people, if we lose, who can I sort of line up to throw under the bus?
08:20To bring him with me.
08:21Exactly, to bring him with me, yeah.
08:22I really thought, you know, the beginning of that episode, he said, well, just watch me, you know?
08:27Yeah, I've got the lowest price item.
08:28A masterclass.
08:29This is going to be a masterclass.
08:30Yeah.
08:31And straight away, it was that, bless him, deer in headlights kind of moment, and he didn't know what to
08:37say.
08:37I think the realisation of, how much is there to actually say about a yoga mat?
08:41Yeah, it hits you, isn't it?
08:43Because you do think, before you go on, I'm going to do X, Y, and Z, but like I said,
08:46because of that feedback, you're like, and then you don't know what to do.
08:49And I think you saw that with him, he was just lost for words.
08:51You've got to get your ego out of the way when it comes to selling that sort of stuff.
08:53You've got to think about, who am I selling to?
08:55They're the important person.
08:56Yeah, which Dan, I think, did quite brilliantly.
08:59And Conor, in fact, referenced it.
09:01He said he exceeded everybody's expectations.
09:03There was like a very gentle acknowledgement of his moment, and yet, he still brought him back into the bonus
09:10room.
09:10Honestly, justice for Dan.
09:11This is a disgrace.
09:12I'm so mad about you.
09:15It is time to bring out our first fired candidate, whose shopping channel, Shoe Dryer, blew his chances at Lord
09:21Sugar's Investments.
09:23Let's remind ourselves of his pitch.
09:25How are we doing, everybody, and welcome.
09:27I'm Levi.
09:28Oh, here we go again.
09:30This is a shoe dryer.
09:32Talk about how much your missus will love that.
09:34She'll be so impressed with you.
09:35I know, when, after me and my missus been on the razz round town, bit of a smelly shoe, all
09:40I have to do is just pop it up, pop it on.
09:42You'd put me off listening to you, mate.
09:44You really would.
09:47Levi, welcome.
09:48How are we doing?
09:51I love it.
09:52I think you were slightly done dirty, because it was like Rothen was going, your missus will love it.
09:56I think she meant, we'll love the fact that your stinking boots will be dry.
10:01And you were like, eh, your missus smelly shoes on the razz round.
10:05I was like, those stilettos.
10:08What?
10:08I could say something here, but I don't want to throw me missus under the bus for your feet.
10:15So you chose the shoe dryer, Levi.
10:18You weren't even set up with that product.
10:20You were into it, because you have found it useful in the past.
10:24Did you think it would be easier to sell than it was?
10:27Oh, yeah, most definitely.
10:28Yeah, I thought I'd be all right.
10:30When I was practising everything, I thought, I've got this bob on here.
10:33You practised?
10:33Yeah, well, shortly.
10:34But then when I come on to life selling and nerves were there, I don't even know how you chuffing
10:40work this.
10:41So, yeah, something like that, boom, yeah, that'll do.
10:45Would you buy one?
10:47No.
10:48You know what?
10:49I'd say yes.
10:52Because I think you did know that there's a market for it somewhere.
10:57Yeah.
10:57And I think, actually, Rothen was saying about your missus and stuff just threw a whole new audience into the
11:01game.
11:01Totally.
11:02You said about people, you know, who work outside all the time?
11:05Yeah, that was good, yeah.
11:06Well, that was the origin for it, for you, right?
11:08From my own experience, being in Groundworks, I fell into quite a lot of puddles.
11:13So, I thought, when your boots don't get dry, so I thought if I had a shoe dryer at home,
11:17bang my boots on there.
11:18Nothing worse than a soggy shoe.
11:20Yeah, banging your feet in a wet shoe next morning, setting up for a bad day.
11:24On there as well, they didn't show, but I run about dog walkers, people like to go walking.
11:28So, I threw a few more in there than I did just Groundworks and my athlete's foot.
11:35The athlete's foot, yeah.
11:36It was the athlete's foot that did it, but it was like a sketch, kind of.
11:40I mean, I feel like if I was sitting at home passively watching a shopping channel, I was back in
11:47the room.
11:47Like, I was awake.
11:48It was a surreal experience.
11:50I've never experienced that before.
11:51But when we did the training beforehand, I said to the woman, to the lady, I felt a bit giddy
11:56on that one.
11:56Do I need to rein it in a little bit?
11:57She's like, no, that's perfect.
11:59So, I thought, all right, fantastic.
12:00I'll keep that energy up then.
12:01Sure, fair enough.
12:02It was giddy on another level.
12:03I loved the energy.
12:05Levi, the firing happened very quickly.
12:08Did it come as an extra shock off the back of last week, PM, and your win?
12:13So, you were like, high, high, high, high, boom.
12:16Yeah, straight.
12:16He didn't even let me, a little sugar didn't even give me a chance to warm seat up.
12:19As soon as I put my bum down, he was like, right, you're gone.
12:22I was like, oh, nice one.
12:23So, yeah, a bit deflating with that one.
12:25But I had a feeling I was going to go because one of you's will be leaving.
12:30He made eye contact with me straight away.
12:32I thought, you've made your mind up here.
12:33Did you?
12:34So, I had a feeling that I was going to be going on that.
12:36So, I'm sort of prepared.
12:37But, yeah, a bit of a flat line, really, after winning on an eye.
12:41Yeah, that's tough.
12:42You had a couple of close calls, though.
12:45One of the most memorable for me was binning the parsley in Egypt, OK?
12:50Had you genuinely never seen a bunch of parsley?
12:55Yeah, in shops, when I go to Tesco's or something, I've seen it.
12:57OK, but you just thought they, like, merchandised it upside down?
13:00Well, no, well, it wasn't priesh, because I don't do it.
13:03I can cook, but I don't enjoy cookies, so I don't cook.
13:06So, Priesh went, cut that bit and throw it away.
13:10So, I cut that bit and threw it away.
13:12But he didn't show it on that episode.
13:14I said to Priesh, Priesh, talk to me like I'm thick, mate.
13:18He must have been thinking, I already am.
13:21And it's not working.
13:24He went after that.
13:25Priesh were baffled.
13:26He's like, I am Levi.
13:30As a former military man, you're used to working with a team.
13:33Do you think, then, that you approach tasks differently to some of the others because of that background?
13:38I think I approached it compared to everybody, to be fair.
13:42Because to me, it was all the way through up until week 10, it's a team task.
13:48If you're on that winning team, you put the people in the right places and your team win, you're in
13:52it.
13:53You're in it till final.
13:54It's just when you get to the interviews, when it's about you and your business, and that's the thing I'm
13:58gutted about.
13:58Because I knew I would have really excelled there.
14:00I know my business inside and out.
14:02I'm passionate.
14:03But, yeah, that's the mindset I had.
14:04We work as a team, put people in the right places.
14:06Let's get that win.
14:07And then we have to prove ourselves.
14:09Step into situations that they're not professional in before just to prove, if you know what I mean.
14:14Because I do think that's the thing.
14:15Some people are looking for kind of glory, looking to stand out early.
14:19But, and, you know, Lord Sugar referenced you as like you're like a plus one at a wedding at one
14:25point.
14:25It was like, maybe I'm just a puppeteer.
14:29Well, I'll be honest.
14:30I didn't realise how Yorkshire I actually sounded until I come down here.
14:34Oh, I know first.
14:35And I, thank you.
14:37And I wanted to do the pitching, but once I realised how northern I sounded, how Yorkshire I were, I
14:43thought I'm not the right person to do any pitching.
14:45I thought as soon as I start talking, people will be laughing when I'm trying to be serious.
14:49Oh, no.
14:49I don't agree at all.
14:50Yeah, not necessarily true.
14:52So, so I like took a bit of step back with that one where I liked to have done the
14:56pitching, but I thought in myself, it was my own subconscious overthinking, really.
15:01I should have put myself out there, but I didn't.
15:03Isn't this a funny thing?
15:04When it comes to pitching, we think that we've got to be, you know, really serious about it.
15:08But people love a northerner.
15:10People warm to northerner's mind.
15:11Like I said, it's quite a psychological process, isn't it?
15:13Yeah.
15:14You know, it's, you've got to kind of defeat that voice in your head sometimes and just be like, no,
15:18I'm the best person for this.
15:19Let me go for it, you know?
15:20Any favourite humans, Levi?
15:22I love, I love the dynamics.
15:24I love the house.
15:25I love all the, you know, stuff that, oh, he's like.
15:27Well, yeah, there was a favourite human until gamified fitness.
15:31That would have been Lawrence.
15:33Hey, he showed his true colours.
15:36Yeah, he were nice.
15:37I liked the lad until that point.
15:40When you're out, you're out.
15:42Yeah, that's it.
15:42Then task A, when we have that talking back at taxi, we start to blossom again.
15:47And then, yeah, we were all right after that.
15:49Do you know what?
15:50I got on with everybody in the house.
15:52I sort of put myself in the house as like a dad role.
15:56I was always doing it with dishwasher or tidying up.
15:58I was always putting bins out.
16:00If people wanted to come and talk, have a talk in confining, they'd come and ask me and speak to
16:05me.
16:05So you were the therapist as well?
16:06Yeah.
16:06Yeah, I just got on with everybody.
16:08It was nice.
16:09It was nice to meet everybody from different backgrounds and people that I would never meet in my life.
16:13See, you're a better man than I am.
16:15I know that being in a house with people for that long, especially when you've had like a bit of
16:20argument by argument with them in, you know, in the boardroom,
16:23it must be hard not to like take that back to the house.
16:26At home eating chicken together, you're like glaring over the top.
16:29Are people quite good at like sort of letting it go after they've had a bit of an argument or
16:34anything?
16:35I think you've just got to be a bit of an adult about it.
16:38You've just got to realise it's part of the process.
16:40You've just got to get on with it and work together on that next task, which were nice because you
16:43got to see that with me and Laurence back at car.
16:45Yeah.
16:46Like, don't get me wrong, we had a bit of a grudge.
16:48We didn't talk for 24 hours.
16:50We needed that bit of decompression.
16:52But then after that, we went back in car.
16:53You're heading back on task.
16:54That bygones are bygones.
16:56Let's just move forward with it.
16:57Well, you're a joy to watch and that TV selling will go down in history.
17:01Levi, thank you so much.
17:03Thank you for having me.
17:04Brilliant.
17:05Now, our next candidate put his blood, literal sweat and tears into TV selling,
17:10but unfortunately, he was price dropped straight out of the process.
17:14Let's remind ourselves of one of his more uplifting performances.
17:17Ladies and gentlemen, please keep arms and legs inside of the spacecraft as we get ready to blast off out
17:26of this world.
17:27Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to ask you to count down with me.
17:31Five.
17:32Four.
17:33Three.
17:34Two.
17:35One.
17:37We have takeoff.
17:40Good.
17:41So many, so many, Jake.
17:43Yeah.
17:43Oh, no!
17:45Woo!
17:46We riot at dawn.
17:48We riot at dawn.
17:49Get me back there.
17:49Get me back.
17:50You looked in your element in a silver onesie.
17:54Yeah, I know.
17:55I had it specially tailored for my hips.
17:57But, you know, I was like looking at that.
17:59I was like, that is me.
18:00Yeah.
18:00And that is me in my element where I'm comfortable.
18:03And I was like, there's different times where this competition brings out a little bit of insecurity.
18:07Yeah.
18:07And you put up a guarded front.
18:10But when I knew I was going to shine or excel like that, I look at that and I was
18:13like, that's me.
18:14So the pitching, the entertainment, the corporate, like that's your...
18:17That's my gig.
18:19And I was like, I'm solely responsible for myself and my element.
18:22I knew what I'm going to do.
18:23I was like, I'm going to come here and harness and execute.
18:25Conor, you've just watched the TV selling task.
18:27Okay.
18:27How did you feel hearing that praise from Lord Sugar and Karen and Tim after you left?
18:34Emotional.
18:35I actually, I won't lie because I was like that, that day I was so defeated.
18:39I was like, I cared so much about my team and I felt I left them down by not selling
18:46anything.
18:47And I was like, from the get-go, I was like, oh, this is going to be my week.
18:50And Roth, Nadal, Levi, Kieran, I was like, I adore them all.
18:53And I was like, I sold nothing.
18:54I was just like, I deserve to go home.
18:57And I wish I had felt the same way about myself that they were saying to me.
19:02So I actually went in there and fought for myself because I was like, looking at me, I was like,
19:05you can see my eyes are red.
19:06I was just, I was really upset and it's a shame that it ended like that.
19:11But I felt like I deserved to go that week.
19:13And if there's anything that you've learned in business is you can't be defeated.
19:17You have to bounce back.
19:19And I think I was defeated that week.
19:21So rightfully, I think actually Lord Sugar saw that.
19:23And if you're looking for a business partner, you don't want someone who gets defeated over not selling in a
19:27bad day.
19:27But she's bounced back quick, babe.
19:29But that's what, yeah.
19:30Do you know what I mean?
19:31Kieran made a deal with Lord Sugar, okay.
19:33Yeah.
19:34So that he could stay and you declined to even have that conversation.
19:38It was kind of gently offered anybody else?
19:41Yeah.
19:42In hindsight, do you wish you'd have played that differently?
19:44Do I wish I did it differently?
19:46No.
19:47At that moment, I actually thought I was like, well, I'm not winning.
19:49So I was like, well, I'm not winning.
19:51And then I was like, actually, I give 100% every week.
19:55I have the highest sales, highest negotiations, called out for clients, pitching.
19:58I have shown you week after week.
20:00And I was like, if I'm going to progress in this competition, I want it to be based on merit.
20:04And I stood by that in that moment.
20:06Do I wish I got through to next week if I had said that?
20:09Yeah, of course.
20:10I'd like to see where it went.
20:10But I'm happy that I stuck to my morals and left.
20:14I thought it was quite punchy as well.
20:16Me too.
20:16It had sass.
20:18Yeah.
20:18You were like, no, I don't need to do that.
20:20I don't need to beg.
20:22You were self-assured.
20:22I don't need to beg.
20:23And I do think there was a moment where I thought, oh, yeah, he's just exposed.
20:27Kieran is a bit beggy.
20:28Yeah.
20:28I don't think it's hard.
20:29I think this might go in your favor is what I thought.
20:32I thought that I had shown enough throughout the process to be considered investable.
20:36And I kind of said, I was like, well, if I go through to next week, I'm going to see
20:38the same again.
20:39I was like, I'm going to try and smash it out of the park again.
20:41Yeah.
20:41If you want to see that, take me through.
20:43But I was like, I can make this offer for you if you want.
20:45But that is not why I want to think that I'm brought through.
20:49In hindsight, though, I really wish you had, you know, because I'm like, yeah, Kieran, he fought.
20:53But now having met you here, it's like, I would love for you.
20:56I would love to bring this up because me and Kieran have the best chemistry.
20:59Chalk and cheese.
21:00Yeah.
21:01Chalk and cheese, but in the best way.
21:02Yeah.
21:03I would have loved to have gone against him.
21:05Like in week eight, the previous week, we had such banter going.
21:07I was like, lads, day out.
21:09You were having drinks.
21:10Yeah.
21:10And he's well able to throw it back.
21:11And it's so respectful.
21:13Yeah.
21:13I adore him.
21:14Episodes one and two, couldn't stand the man.
21:18There is no character arc more impressive than his.
21:22I really adore him.
21:23And like with him, this PM next week, I hope he fails.
21:26But part of me, I hope he wins.
21:30The core circuit machine, Conor.
21:33I mean, I'm sure it keeps you awake at night.
21:35Okay.
21:36Yeah.
21:36Didn't get any sales.
21:38Right.
21:39Karen thought maybe it was because it looked too hard.
21:42You were like, I'm a fit bro.
21:44I don't regret showing the product can be challenging.
21:48Because I think sometimes with a product like this, you think it may be gimmicky.
21:51Or it might go, come and go.
21:53So I don't actually regret my technique, nor how difficult I made it appear.
21:57I also think it was challenging.
21:58Because you were wearing shoes, a waistcoat, and a little floppy tie.
22:04Yeah.
22:04And there was no room to breathe with those trousers.
22:06Those trousers, Conor.
22:08I was like, did you see me thrusting?
22:10Yeah, I did.
22:11Everyone saw you thrusting.
22:13Yeah.
22:13Yeah.
22:14Link in bio.
22:15Do you think that's where it went wrong?
22:19Well, let's see how the DMs are after this.
22:21Maybe that's where it went right.
22:25Trey, Lauren, what did you make of Conor's selling technique?
22:29I think it was actually a good selling technique, but just maybe not with, you know, 70-year-old
22:35Ethel in mind.
22:37And maybe that is perhaps more of the kind of person that's at home watching than, like
22:42you said, the gym bros who are actually down the gym.
22:44So I kind of, I saw the vision and I saw the passion.
22:48And I don't think you look defeated.
22:49I really thought you were giving it a good go.
22:51You were adamant that the product selection was key.
22:54You know, obviously.
22:56But did it feel like you went with products that teammates just were kind of excited about
23:02rather than thinking about what can we sell, sell, sell?
23:05So I would be very emotionally based and kind of storytelling based.
23:09And I wanted them to have products that they felt comfortable in selling and selling a story.
23:12So with Levi, he had the story about his work boots.
23:15With Kieran, he was like, yeah, I use a yoga mat all the time, but I can't flex those hips
23:18for anything.
23:19So that's what I wanted them to be grounded in a story on the product.
23:23So no.
23:24No.
23:25I mean, I could have and won, but I don't regret the choices I've made.
23:28No mercy.
23:28I love this.
23:29I do think that you had, and you showed it through eight, this kind of ability to zoom
23:37out almost and see what was going on to kind of question.
23:41Some people thought maybe it was a little, you know, like you were getting stuck in when
23:44somebody else was PM.
23:45Yeah.
23:45But that actually you were saying, have you considered this?
23:49Like you were kind of able to anticipate potential problems.
23:53Was that easier to do when you weren't PM?
23:57It's interesting because I was never going to be one who's going to be quiet and not
24:01take part.
24:01I wanted to be there from the front.
24:03I felt like I had something to prove from the get go because this is my energy.
24:05Then when it came to leadership and being PM, I did feel like I was like, oh, I actually
24:10do care about everyone else.
24:11And I probably wanted their approval rather than actually grabbing the bull by the horns
24:15and making the correct decisions.
24:16So again, a great learning from this.
24:18I lost as PM twice and once as sub PM.
24:20So I'm a terrible project manager.
24:22What was the biggest thing that you will take from the process?
24:26Looking back at the whole series, I was like, I just wish I was this version of myself
24:30the whole time.
24:30And you saw different moments that I excelled when I was like this or outselling and performing.
24:35And even the boardroom, I'm like, oh my God, who's that guy with red eyes crying?
24:38And I was like, I had so much built up energy that I was maybe conserving or performing a
24:45more refined version of myself.
24:46And I wish I just gave glamour.
24:50I wish Diva Supreme had entered the building.
24:53Do you know what I mean?
24:54Oh my God.
24:54I wish Diva Supreme had entered the building.
24:57It's such a shame that we didn't get this version of you.
25:00I loved it.
25:01Either way, this whole situation.
25:04Thank you so much, Conor.
25:06You're an absolute dream.
25:07An absolute dream.
25:08I can't wait to see what you do.
25:10Well, it is time now to press play on this week's boardroom bangers as our guests reveal
25:14the songs that they feel sum up the task of the week.
25:18Lauren, what have you gone with?
25:19OK, so it's always my favourite part of The Apprentice when you see Lord Sugar at home
25:25wearing his slippers and his little casual polo shirt watching the shopping challenge.
25:31I just think it's hilarious.
25:32And so I've gone for this because he's always...
25:38Oh, that's a bit of you.
25:42Yeah, good set.
25:43Great choice.
25:44Great choice.
25:46God, I haven't heard the age.
25:48It's a right tune, isn't it?
25:49Oh, it's lovely.
25:50Trey, what have you gone for?
25:51I've gone for a tribute to the fact that in the gallery, when we did it, it was so much
25:57pandemonium and noise, but for these guys, it was so quiet.
26:00So I've gone for this.
26:12It's like reverential.
26:16It's like being a mask.
26:18We're dropping the mask.
26:19It's so quiet.
26:20Dropping the mask.
26:20Don't drop the mask.
26:21You were a bit quiet at times in that gallery.
26:24I said no one ever.
26:25Yeah, we're so quiet now.
26:27It is time to look ahead to our next task, where our candidates will be designing products
26:32for pets.
26:34Here's an exclusive clip.
26:35What do cats like?
26:36Do you have any idea?
26:37Because I'm not actually sure.
26:38Do they have anything and everything?
26:42I don't, my knowledge on that is very little, so then I don't want...
26:45We've got the mouse.
26:46Retailers to say where did the food I'm from.
26:47Oh, they like cheese.
26:50That's mouse, right?
26:51Yeah, mouse, love cheese.
26:53But the cat will be at the top, chilling.
26:55Why would you...
26:56Oh, yeah.
26:57What does a cat like?
26:59What toys can...
27:01Cats don't really like to play with many toys, to be honest.
27:05Apple.
27:07Fruit fits in with tree.
27:08They just love being...
27:09I think stick with the fruit idea.
27:12So basically just apple and a banana.
27:16Everyone knows they love bananas.
27:18Cats.
27:19That's going to be chaos.
27:20I mean, they're livid when they don't get the five a day.
27:24Not a small task, to be fair, because they've got a product to create.
27:28And a brand, under pressure at this stage in the competition.
27:33Where do you even start?
27:35Again, I think at this time now, like I say, I've always said it psychologically.
27:38You've got to be thinking, we're going to win it.
27:40This is the only mindset you've got to have.
27:42You've got to have that conviction, because it's so difficult.
27:44So many moving pieces, so many variables.
27:46And you do have to play, really, as a team at this stage.
27:49Forget the individual.
27:50As a team, you want to win.
27:51Because whoever wins, enter that final.
27:54Well, it's been a joy.
27:55That is it for today.
27:56Thank you so much, Conor, Trey and Lauren.
27:59Don't forget to tune in next time for more Unfinished Business on BBC Two, iPlayer or BBC Sounds.
28:05Straight after a Barking Mad edition of The Apprentice.
28:08I'm Angela Scanlon.
28:09Goodbye.
28:09Bye-bye.
28:10Bye-bye.
