00:12So today we're talking about everything new with Career Mode in FIFA 23
00:17and here to talk about it are Alex and Yonel from the development team.
00:20Hey guys.
00:20Hey Sheldon.
00:21Hey Sheldon, happy to be here.
00:22Excited to have you joining us because there's so many new things to cover
00:25from playable highlights to authentic managers.
00:27We even have a new menu.
00:28We'll get to that in just a second.
00:30But first Alex, let's chat about the new Player Career Personality.
00:33Player Personality is one of the major features in Player Career this year.
00:37It's a fluid system that drives a personal connection to your player
00:40and it lets you define your character both on and off the pitch.
00:44For example, deciding whether or not you should pass the ball to a teammate
00:47or making a shot attempt on your own.
00:50That contributes towards developing your personality in a certain direction.
00:55and we have three different personality types, each type of decision contributing to those.
01:00So we have Mavericks.
01:02They're opportunists on the pitch, aggressively chasing goals, individual glory,
01:06and they act on intuition and they seek stardom off the pitch as well.
01:10Virtuosos are skillful and intelligent.
01:12They use their technique to change matches and act spontaneously both on and off the pitch.
01:17And last but not least, heartbeats are, as the name implies it, the heartbeat of the team.
01:22They read the game one step ahead of opponents.
01:24They lead by example off the pitch.
01:26As I said, it's not just about what you do on the pitch,
01:30but about the activities that you engage with off the pitch as well.
01:33You can visit an injured teammate in the hospital, you can buy a sports car.
01:37Lots of activities that you can do that have an impact on your personality as well.
01:41What's great about this system is that it evolves as you play the game.
01:46So you may start out as a Maverick,
01:48which in turn will unlock specific attribute boosts that are associated to the Maverick playstyle.
01:54So for example, attributes such as finishing could end up being boosted if you're really evolved as a Maverick,
02:01whereas as a heartbeat, you might see other attributes being boosted if you get to a certain personality level.
02:07So there's a lot of freedom and it's an ever-evolving system, like I said.
02:10So we're excited to see what decisions our players will make in the game.
02:14We hear it so often from the community.
02:16Players want to progress in their career, win those big matches throughout a season,
02:19but they just don't have time to play the full 90 minutes.
02:22Are there any other options here in FIFA 23?
02:25We really want to bridge the gap between that dedication of playing a 90-minute match
02:29and risking it all with a quick sim just to get to the end results.
02:34And to that extent, we've developed a new feature called Playable Highlights,
02:37which allows you to only play the highlights of the match,
02:40the situations which would have an outcome that influences the result directly.
02:45It's also very attributes-driven depending on the quality of the two teams facing each other.
02:51So lots of variation in there, a very exciting feature that kind of presents itself as a highlight reel.
02:57Jonal, can you take us through the new menu this year?
02:59Absolutely. And I'm actually excited about this because our players are spending a lot of time
03:05in the menu in career mode specifically.
03:08So there's a lot of interactions within the career mode UI.
03:12So we're happy this year to streamline all of that,
03:15implement a new interface that allows you to get to what you need really fast,
03:20spend less time navigating,
03:22and spend more time actually actively thinking about how to best manage this time off the pitch.
03:27So it's covering a lot of key features from the game,
03:30and we're excited to allow our players to interact with this new system
03:33and get immersed in the career mode universe.
03:36Another new feature coming to FIFA 23 are dynamic moments in career mode.
03:40So can you explain what these moments are?
03:42As you know, we've been doing a good job at celebrating success when it comes to winning trophies.
03:48Now we've added some new cinematic sequences,
03:51which would focus on the celebration of switching clubs
03:54or transferring players in and out of your squad to improve it.
03:59But at the same time, we have focused on other moments of player career as well.
04:03If a new star signing arrives at your club,
04:06you might see something happen with said player.
04:09Or if you're achieving a key moment in your player career mode journey,
04:14you could also see that highlighted as well.
04:17So there's a lot of fist bumping going around,
04:19a lot of moments where you get to be surrounded by your squad mates,
04:22and it's something that's really immersive, it's really fun,
04:25and it's something that really brings you into that career mode universe
04:28that you're creating for yourself.
04:30Speaking of transfers, it's almost like an art.
04:32You learn as you go.
04:33How is this all going to play out in FIFA 23
04:36as we learn along the way signing new players?
04:39So as you've mentioned, Sheldon,
04:41the transfer window is one of the most exciting times for us as football fans.
04:45So we're happy to complement that experience in career mode this year.
04:49We've built a new transfer evaluation feature
04:51that will give you an analysis of all the transfers that you're doing.
04:55So after each transfer, you will see this new feature.
04:59Evaluate how well you've done as a negotiator
05:01or highlight where your new signing could best fit in your squad.
05:05And we'll also give you hints as to how you can improve your negotiation moving forward,
05:11maybe get a better price for your players,
05:12or maybe even get a better deal for players
05:15that you want to sell on further in your career mode playthrough as a manager.
05:19And not just our managers getting smarter here.
05:22Can you tell us how the AI is becoming more strategic in-game?
05:25So our new CPU AI system analyzes all of these parameters
05:30in a much more intelligent way.
05:32So what this means is that you will see your opponent
05:35make much more informed and better decisions
05:38depending on the outcome of the different situations that you generate in-game.
05:42If I'm really dominating a match and I score one, two goals,
05:45you may see your opposition make some more offensive-minded substitutions
05:49to try to claw back into the game.
05:51And we're excited to see this play out in these lengthy career mode seasons.
05:55Lastly, can you take us through the all-new authentic managers in FIFA 23?
06:00This feature has been a really long time coming.
06:03FIFA 23 finally brings you the ability to step in the shoes
06:07of some of the world's most famous managers.
06:10You can actually pick from the authentic likeness
06:12of any authentic manager that we have in the game.
06:15And you can put them at the helm of their current club,
06:18take them on to a different club,
06:20if that's a scenario that you want to play out,
06:23or even put them at the helm of a club that you create
06:27and manage on your own as well.
06:28So you can choose your manager, you can customize their appearance,
06:32you can lead your club to glory in the shoes of
06:34some of the world's most known managers.
