00:20tax credit while stopping scammers is a great thing it can delay the process and mean that
00:25those claiming the credits may have to wait longer for a refund check CNBC says that last year when
00:30the agency debuted filter X a new fraud algorithm over 1 million returns were suspended through
00:35September according to the taxpayer advocate service 275,000 of those returns were delayed
00:41for over 40 days they were flagged over claiming the earned income tax credit the additional child
00:47tax credit or for having incomplete wage and withholding information to help avoid delays in
00:52general get those returns in early don't wait until the week of April 15th turbo tax suggests
00:58double-checking some critical data that can hold up the processing including making sure your social
01:02security number matches and if you e-file entering the correct account numbers for direct deposit
01:08speaking of which the tax preparation software company does suggest filing electronically as
01:13opposed to paper which it says can take the IRS three weeks longer to issue a refund
