00:00Way back during the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump came under fire for his relationship with porn actress Stormy Daniels.
00:08It's a topic that has recently resurfaced, as the $130,000 he paid his hush money may have been filed
00:13as a business expense, breaking either campaign finance and or tax laws.
00:18But now, according to Tim O'Brien, who wrote a biography about the former president, he says he was likely
00:23quick to pay off the actress just to keep him out of hot water with his wife.
00:27Recently on MSNBC's Deadline White House, O'Brien told interviewers, quote,
00:31I don't think he was only worried about his campaign potentially getting blown up.
00:35I think he was also worried about his marriage getting blown up, explaining that Donald Trump has a long history
00:40of extramarital affairs, adding,
00:42I think he was probably more afraid at that point of Melania Trump than he was of the electorate.
00:47So he had a motivation to try and get this out of the way.
00:49These comments are in step with many we've heard in the past.
00:52In fact, former White House advisor Kellyanne Conway said a similar thing when testifying to the House Select Committee investigating
00:58the January 6th attack on the Capitol this past November,
01:01telling them at the time, quote,
01:03He listens to many of us, but he reserves fear for one person, Melania Trump.
01:07A grand jury is now hearing testimony from Michael Cohen on the matter.
01:11A signal and indictment for Trump may soon follow.
