00:00U.S. President Joe Biden still has yet to announce his 2024 candidacy, despite the presidential election happening just next
00:07year.
00:07Many believe he will likely do that after his State of the Union address on February 7th.
00:11However, many Democrats say they'd prefer if he didn't at all.
00:15According to a new survey by the Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research,
00:20only 37% of Democrats want the incumbent president to run again.
00:24That's down from 52% shortly after the midterm elections, where the GOP's red wave ended up more a red
00:30ripple.
00:31So what's going on exactly?
00:32Well, Biden's age has long been a concern for many, as the now 80-year-old president is the oldest
00:37to ever hold the office.
00:38In fact, his popularity amongst young voters is dropping even faster than in other age groups,
00:43with support from Americans under the age of 45 going from 45% back in November to just 23%
00:50now.
00:50But the poor situation the U.S. economy finds itself in is an issue, too,
00:54despite being an inherited one from the Trump administration and the pandemic.
00:58According to a separate ABC Washington poll, Americans are also unenthusiastic
01:03about another presidential campaign cycle with Trump and Biden as opponents,
01:07with only 58% of Democrats from that poll wanting to see Biden run again,
01:11and only 49% of Republicans wanting to see Trump on their ticket.
