00:00After three days of review, lawmakers have failed to reach a consensus on the special defense budget.
00:05The ruling Democratic Progressive Party had proposed 40 billion U.S. dollars in spending,
00:10but Taiwan's two other major parties have put forward their own smaller versions.
00:14But Thursday's session ended without consensus on key provisions, including procurement items and the overall budget amount.
00:20Defense Minister Wellington Kuh said the Cabinet's version is the only proposal
00:24to include funding for key items like domestic drone production and AI systems.
00:44The budget discussions will continue through cross-party negotiations.
