00:00My hope would be that by 2030 every landholder in Australia has a land plan.
00:05Some may not have other uses that are viable, some may be ideologically opposed to other
00:11uses and that's fine, but that they should make that decision with intentionality.
00:14We would hope that every landholder goes through a process to create a strategic land plan
00:19about the potential land use matrix and puzzle on their land by 2030.
00:24Every landholder has a story, that story is about their farm, their future, their neighbours,
00:28the community they're in, and that story must be told at the beginning of the project.
00:33Of course there are many other stories that get layered over that over time, the story
00:37of the project, the government regulations, but you start with the landholder story and
00:44everything builds on top of that.
00:45The clean energy transition, we want it to go fast, but we want it also to be fair and
00:50the great news about this product is it really gives information to landholders about the
00:55renewable energy potential on their land and the ability to sit down when those decisions
01:00are being made with developers about siting, about benefits that can flow back.
01:05So we just think it's a really great way to make the transition both faster and fairer.
01:08What the tool really does is creates a little bit more of a level playing field by having
01:14both sides of that discussion have information about renewable energy potential.
01:18And what we love, what I love from the demonstration just now is it actually also then lets the
01:23landholder plot out the parts of their land that are particularly important or significant,
01:28and so that those decisions then about siting of those renewable energy assets can be made
01:34together with the developer, but also bringing those landholder values into the discussion.
01:38When I first went on the renewable energy journey back in 2012, I was trying to find as much
01:43information as I could about renewable energy, about wind farms, because Axione were talking
01:49to me about a wind farm, and it was very hard to get that information.
01:52And it's been, in the last 16 years, 15 years, it's been a heck of a journey.
01:58And I'm still looking for information as well, but to have a tool like Assess 2.0, there's
02:04a lot of information there, very quickly, easy to operate.
02:07If I can operate it, any farmer can operate it, any landowner can operate it.
02:11All farmers are business people, and whether they're embracing renewable energy or have
02:17opinions about renewable energy and renewable energy projects, in the quiet around the kitchen
02:23table or in the office, they can actually go onto this platform and do an assessment, an
02:27anonymous assessment of what's on their property.
02:30Now, what is their renewable energy assets worth?
02:33Now, they know what a load of grain's worth, a load of prime lambs, a load of cattle are worth,
02:37but they don't know what renewable energy could potentially be worth to them.
02:40It's worth having a look at this, and I'd encourage people to, because this is not
02:44only about renewable energy, it's all about everything you do on your farm and where everything
02:48fits together.
02:49And it helps with farm planning, farm development, but also no succession planning, all those things
02:54we have to deal with every day, every week, every year.
