00:03The Garrison, this was Tommy's pub.
00:08Three, two, one.
00:11Over the course of the show, the Garrison's always had, like, these kind of refurbs,
00:15and it's always gone from this little kind of scruffy pub to this kind of gaudy, chintzy thing.
00:21So it's always a different kind of versions of itself.
00:25There was an actual Garrison pub in Birmingham.
00:28We sat in the pub all day, drinking Guinness.
00:30It was one of the most disgusting pubs I've ever been.
00:32You know, like, it's risky to go to the toilet, you know what I mean?
00:35But, like, great fun.
00:37And so that was the model for the actual Garrison pub.
00:41How can we move it on? How can it be the same but different now to what it was?
00:45To represent the new world of the Peaky Blinders in the Second World War?
00:49Do you want to pay homage to the original but also a touch to the future?
00:54It needed to be this slightly chaotically, anarchically run environment
00:57where the morals had left the building.
01:00It's a place of wild parties and hedonism.
01:04Anything can happen there.
01:09The Garrison was built in a kind of hinterland between where the town might be
01:14and where industry might start.
01:16There's something about it being underneath this bridge hidden.
01:19It feels dangerous and a bit barren.
01:23The extra of the Garrison was filmed in a different location to the interior.
01:27So you're outside the Garrison in Manchester.
01:30You go in the door and you're in a studio in Birmingham.
01:34You go down the corridor.
01:36But then you walk left to the pig pen and you're in Liverpool.
01:38That's kind of the magic of it.
01:41And I thought we almost need to stretch it.
01:43Everything needs to be bigger.
01:45Looking at what had gone before but then pushing it a little bit more into a slightly more masculine world.
01:51And so it was very much about grounds and it's almost like inside of a leather pipe cases
01:56or cigarette boxes of the period.
01:58Be ready for the anarchy that comes after.
02:01I'm ready.
02:03I quite like the idea as well of Duke being like a kid in the adult world.
02:08The scale of a kid in a large environment is interesting.
02:12It's a moment of new beginnings and it's a foreign and new territory for everyone.
02:21Music in clubs is always a bad idea.
