00:04Hello everyone, Joni, Executive Producer on Sea of Thieves here with another weekly dev update.
00:09So firstly, it's been amazing to see the continued momentum and interest around Sea of Thieves since the Shrouded Spoil
00:16release.
00:17Obviously throughout December we've seen loads of streaming, loads of stories and just loads of people kind of coming in
00:23and playing Sea of Thieves.
00:24And to see that continue through January, to see new players coming in, new streamers, just new awareness about the
00:30whole game has been incredible.
00:32And again, when I look at all of our metrics internally to see pretty much everything taking an uptick, whether
00:37that's monthly active users or it's the streaming numbers or even just our sales and our game pass,
00:43we're kind of seeing really great growth across all of these areas.
00:46So just a really amazing start to the year and really great momentum coming all from that Shrouded Spoil release.
00:53And so with the plans that we have in place for this year, it's just a really exciting time for
00:58everyone at the studio right now.
00:59So really cool to be on this adventure together.
01:03The thing that's been most fun for me has been actually just watching people play.
01:07So, you know, I've been on the streaming services on Twitch and on Mixer and on YouTube and everything and
01:12just watching people play
01:14and seeing how different people are playing and the different ways they're kind of engaging with the game and the
01:19different stories they're having
01:20and really seeing people's personalities play out when they're kind of playing Sea of Thieves with the freedom and the
01:26openness of the game and the sandbox nature.
01:28It's been really great just to watch different people playing.
01:31So, yeah, really, really exciting times for us here.
01:33A little bit of insight into just development at the studio.
01:36So the next update that we have planned is February the 6th, as I've talked about before.
01:40And this is broadly a kind of balancing bug fixing update.
01:44So taking in some of the hot topics around the community.
01:47So the double gun kind of issue that we've talked about in the past is something that we're working on
01:51for this.
01:51But as well as that, we're actually looking at a bunch of just general combat tweaks and improvements around everything
01:58around kind of personal combat.
01:59So around the guns, around the sword play and battling with other players.
02:03So at the moment, we're testing a bunch of those changes and tweaks with pioneers.
02:07And so we're not quite anything.
02:08But broadly, we're going to be hitting a kind of wide range of areas around just combat tweaks.
02:13So things like just weapon reloads, the sword play, the bullet speed and damage, obviously the double gun stuff.
02:20But knockback, hipfire, all of the different elements we're just doing little tweaks to
02:24and just really trying to kind of balance out that experience for the whole kind of personal combat thing.
02:30So lots of tweaks, lots of changes coming there.
02:33We're testing them with pioneers and then they will be coming out on February the 6th.
02:36And so we'll also be appearing on Inside Xbox on the 5th of February,
02:40where we'll talk both about what's coming on the 6th, so the specifics of what's coming in that update,
02:45but also giving just a bit more of an insight into what's going on across Rare at the studio
02:49and a little bit of a tease about what's to come with all of those different things that we're working
02:53on
02:53across Sea of Thieves at the moment.
02:55Following on from last week and just the update around cheating,
02:59again, we're looking at the date, we're looking at feedback,
03:01and we've taken the steps yesterday to just do another small ban wave of people who were cheating in Sea
03:06of Thieves.
03:07So again, very, very small percentage of people out of the whole player base.
03:11But again, we are very closely monitoring this and anybody that we're aware is cheating will be getting banned.
03:16And then finally, for anyone that missed it last week,
03:19the game update reminder that for that February the 6th,
03:23you will be reinstalling the game, but at a smaller download size than the existing install size.
03:28So just to be prepared for that as we're heading towards that again,
03:31so just so you can plan around it.
03:33So February the 6th, that update will be a reinstall of the game, but at a smaller size.

03:42both out in the world with everything that people are doing in the game and seeing all the adventures,
03:47but also with all the stuff that we're working on across the studio.
