00:00Rated M for Mature
00:17My name's Paul Bittes
00:19I'm the military technical advisor
00:20for Sniper Elite 5
00:22and subsequently the motion capture artist
00:25I served 24 years in the
00:27parachute regiment and then I fell into
00:28the film industry, I've worked on film
00:30such as War and Peace, Jason Bourne
00:32leading right up to productions such as 1917
00:36A friend of mine had recommended me to Rebellion
00:39they asked would I fancy working on a computer game
00:42and I've never worked on a computer game before
00:44and so then I was initially brought on
00:46to advise on mission scenarios
00:49then I was asked to help train motion capture artists
00:53and they saw me training these guys
00:55pulled me to one side and said
00:57you move so naturally
00:59would you like to be the motion capture artist
01:01the process is obviously wearing this suit
01:03that takes all the various points of your body
01:06which was completely alien to me
01:07I'd never done that before
01:08and then moving in the way that they want
01:11their operator, Carl, to move
01:13all the takedowns are realistic to the training
01:17that was given to SOE operatives
01:19there was two individuals
01:20Fairbairn and Sykes
01:21and these initially worked for the
01:23Shanghai Municipal Police
01:25they learnt street fighting
01:27gutter street fighting techniques
01:29which they then brought to the UK
01:31and trained all SOE agents in these techniques
01:35so all those techniques you see on Sniper Elite 5
01:38are actually from the handbook
01:39by these guys everything is realistic
01:42there is no embellishment
01:45In Sniper Elite the core gameplay loop is
01:47observing, planning and executing your plan
01:50so we really wanted to encourage your player
01:52to dig deeper in that in SC5
01:54to think about whether they needed
01:55to make every kill
01:57sometimes you might want to leave
01:58certain soldiers alive
02:00or it might not be the right time
02:01to make a kill
02:02you also might be utilising long grass
02:05to stay hidden as you move around the environment
02:08and being really aware of your environment as well
02:10even choose a play style where you
02:12knock all the enemies unconscious
02:14you don't kill anyone
02:15we wanted to make that a completely viable strategy
02:22in Sniper Elite 5
02:23stealth is a little bit different from Sniper Elite 4
02:25we've got rid of this idea that
02:27using subsonic ammo will entirely stealth you
02:29and now you need to play a game of audible distance
02:32every weapon with its respective ammo
02:35will have a range to which the AI can hear you
02:37you need to pay attention to that
02:39and play that strategic game of
02:41you don't want to get too close that they hear you
02:42but you don't want to be too far away
02:43that actually it's a really difficult shot to make
02:45so the sniping feels a lot more integral to stealth
02:50when you're constructing your loadout
02:51something you'll have to think about
02:52is sort of how you're going to play
02:54if you're going to go loud
02:56if you're not going to abide by stealth
02:57then you should almost commit to that
02:59and spec out the weapon accordingly
03:01you might have a loadout
03:02which encourages silenced SMG and pistols as well
03:06you're utilising traversal
03:09potentially hiding over walls
03:10and hanging there waiting for a patrol to pass by
03:14you might be routing through the back streets of this little french town
03:18and you'll find some vines kind of lead up almost the top of the tower
03:21providing a huge shortcut so you don't have to go up this
03:24road completely occupied by germans and fortifications
03:29and we've looked at adding more and more sneaky routes that you can take advantage of to
03:33to i suppose lean into the art itself
03:38you
