00:00Diesel prices in Vietnam has more than doubled since the start of the Middle East conflict.
00:05According to new figures by the country's Trade Ministry,
00:09prices have surged by about 105% since February 26,
00:13shortly before US and Israeli strikes on Iran triggered wider tensions across the region.
00:22At the same time, 95-octane petrol has jumped nearly 70%,
00:26rising from around $0.8 to about $1.4.
00:31But 14 hours later, the ministry revised down fuel prices,
00:35with the cost of diesel lowered to a rate that is just below double that of the February 26 price.
00:40The cost of 95-octane petrol was also reduced
00:44and is now about 49% higher than before the conflict.
00:49In response to growing pressure on supply,
00:51Vietnam has requested fuel support from countries,
00:54including Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria and Japan.
00:57The government has also signed a new deal with Russia on oil and gas production,
01:02aimed at strengthening long-term energy stability.
