00:00Starting its hearings on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, the House Justice
00:04Committee acts on numerous pleadings and orders various personalities to testify.
00:09Duterte, as expected, skips the hearing, calling it a, quote, fishing expedition.
00:13The committee also compels various government agencies to produce documents and records
00:18related to the investigation, such as Duterte's statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth
00:22from 2007 to 2013, 2016 to 2019, and 2022 to 2025.
00:27These people are invited to attend the hearings. Ramil Madriaga, a former aide of Duterte who claimed
00:33he had coordinated with her security officers in the delivery of wads of cash, presumably
00:37confidential funds, to various individuals. Cynthia Viñas-Pantonal, the lawyer who notarized
00:42Madriaga's affidavit. Gloria Camora, team leader of the Commission on Audit Office that looked into
00:47Duterte's confidential expenditures. And Michael Poa, former Department of Education Undersecretary
00:52and Office of the Vice President spokesperson. The House Committee also seeks additional protection
00:56for Madriaga, who said his life inside Camp Bagong Diwa is in danger.
01:01Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez, meantime, calls Madriaga a, quote,
01:05unquote, polluted source. The House has 60 session days from February 23 to resolve the complaints.
01:11If the committee report favors the move to impeach, a one-third vote in the House plenary will send the
01:16case to the Senate for a full trial. Only a Senate conviction can result in Duterte's removal and
01:21disqualification from public office.
