01:49Theseus
01:50Theseus is the archetypal hero of the city of Athens
01:53he is a son of Poseidon
01:55his most famous exploit in modern times is when he went and defeated the Minotaur
02:01mythologically speaking
02:02Theseus is a guy who just
02:04you know had a string
02:06you know he went into the Minotaur's labyrinth
02:08and he figured out a trick so he could find his way out
02:10so he goes in there slays the Minotaur
02:13saves the Athenians from this horrible burden
02:15like hey you're the best you know
02:17but it really wasn't like wow he did tons of great deeds
02:21it was really that one big thing
02:22that defining moment for him
02:23so I kind of thought it would be interesting to have
02:26that he's still this brute
02:28tough warrior
02:29but he's also kind of past this problem
02:32I serve and protect the sisters of fate
02:35for the glory of Zeus
02:37and it sort of reflected in the style of fight as well
02:41that he's a big talker
02:43but really he just was a guy who had a piece of string

03:01it's the whole lunatic kind of crazy old doctor

03:26Daedalus and his son are imprisoned on the island of Crete
03:29and they realize that there's no way to leave
03:31except by the air
03:32and he builds wings for himself and for his son
03:35by taking feathers and wax
03:37and basically building himself some wings
03:40and he warned his son Icarus
03:41not to fly too near the sun
03:44because the wax could melt
03:45but Icarus didn't heed his father's sage counsel
03:49he kept going up and up until he got so close to the sun
03:52the wax of his wings started to melt
03:56the wings were made out of wax
03:58and they melted and deteriorated
04:00just like we wanted them to in the game
04:02so it was kind of a no-brainer
04:03it fell into the story perfectly
04:05and they design gameplay wise
04:06design wise they're excellent
04:10the thing that separates heroes from human beings
04:13is that they're human
04:14but that they can do superhuman things
04:17they have more fortitude
04:18they have more courage
04:19they have good hearts
04:21they are heroic
04:22Kratos is not heroic
04:23Kratos is driven by rage and anger and resentment
04:28you can be as noble as you want
04:30in the God of War universe
04:31but ultimately the animal is going to kill you
04:33and the animal is Kratos
04:34Kratos is driven by the facts
