00:05So, we're half way through the fly-in, the first introduction to the opening scene of the game.
00:10This is basically where we try and hold the player's hand a little bit while we introduce all the new
00:15mechanics that we have to offer in Crackdown 2.
00:18All the great character development and growth from the previous game are back again.
00:23You're witnessing a vehicle, a helicopter that you will get to play later on in the game as you progress
00:28your driving.
00:29and progress your skills.
00:40So, basically, this session sets up the main mission mechanic for the game,
00:45talking about creating this web of energy across the world that will help the agency destroy the freak virus.
00:51The Cell are your other antagonists that you're fighting against in the game,
00:57that you're up against during the day.
00:59They're trying to make sure that the agency don't eradicate the virus because they believe enough that the people that
01:04are infected are citizens already and they want to look for a proper cure.
01:07That's the overall arching fiction.
01:11Crackdown's always been about blowing stuff up and we're going to continue that on in a big fashion.
01:17This takes you through one of the areas that you may have seen from PAX, this is one of the
01:21brand new complete areas in the city.
01:23I've talked about the geometry of the city basically being new with the old road networks so you'll feel like
01:29it's a familiar place but it's got an all new gameplay.
01:44So, this, we're going to come to an end now and Martin's going to take you through the first tactical
01:48location.
01:49Tactical locations are kind of like supply points for lack of a better phrase from the first game.
01:55Essentially, as you take them over, they become areas of the city that you can control and you can get
02:00an ordnance from as you deploy.
02:10So, he's going to say this section of gameplay should feel very familiar to Crackdown players and lovers.
02:16It's essentially you've got the same targeting system where you can control various parts of the body and take out
02:21arms, legs, that kind of thing as you want to.
02:25From a very early stage in the game, you're going to see that Crackdown is still very much true to
02:28its roots.
02:29Blow stuff up, large, insane explosions, using the world around you, the geometry engine, anything you want to try and
02:36take over and take back these locations.
02:39Essentially, this is a mechanic very similar from the first game.
02:48So, what you saw there, just some canisters, these are new kind of toys.
02:52There you go, we can't control them.
02:55What we'd like to think about in Crackdown as well is the creation of a toy box.
02:59So, we've included a lot of enhancements to the toy box this time around to give people that feeling that
03:05we put these systems together.
03:06We're not exactly sure how they're going to work out, but all we know is they're going to have fun
03:09doing them.
03:09We've eliminated resistance in this area. Peacekeeper drop squads are on their way to secure this tactical location.
03:19So, Peacekeepers will be another familiar mechanic from the last game.
03:23Here they are coming in to take over this world.
03:25This is a section of the world that you've now taken over.
03:27This section of the world is now yours to control at any time you want.
03:30And like I said, you can use the choppers to load out the ordnance you want as you've collected and
03:34saved throughout the game.
03:36You don't have to go back to the Agency Tower anymore to bring vehicles with you either.
03:39You can load out the ones you want.
03:40Your armour is depleted and your body is now vulnerable.
03:44It would be wise to take cover to allow your armour time to regenerate.
03:56So, what you're hearing right now is some of the stuff we're particularly proud of as well.
03:59We've done these cool mashups with well-known revolutionary songs.
04:02Right now you're listening to Johnny Cash masked up.
04:04It's pretty cool and you guys can discover that in the full game.
04:08Again, some of the random toys we leave lying around the place is just because you can, not because you
04:12should or you need to.
04:13It's Crackdown after all.
04:15You can use the world around you to battle the people.
04:18It stinks! I'm not going to lie to you!
04:35Your HUD shows how you are evolving according to your performance.
04:39The different colored markers emitting from dead enemies represent which skills are improving.
04:46That's a tactical location. Get over there and call in the chopper.
04:52Once you've established this first section of the game, then we feel that we've given enough to the user for
04:57that they understand the mechanic and off they go into the full open world.
05:01Let's go!
