00:08Hey everyone, today I was lent a little Leo3RS, so I took the liberty of doing
00:13the test like the one I did for my Golf.
00:17So I'm happy because it's a pretty nice car that we're lending out.
00:21So for those who have seen the first video, we simply start from the same place as the first one.
00:27What's really cool is that my friend's Leo is completely original.
00:32So it's just perfect for a short road test.
00:40So I want to specify that this one doesn't have the Cup chassis, this one is
00:46a luxury bin, so as you can see there's the shopping bag, we have leather seats, but
00:51It doesn't have the Cup chassis.
00:52So let's just say it's not the most refined Clio, but it's still pretty good.
00:58'It's already a whip-like object.
01:01So I know that this isn't the favorite Clio of Renault purists, simply because of the character
01:12The engine had disappointed quite a few people.
01:14in the sense that we have a superb chassis that is much more elaborate, much more, let's say, aggressive
01:22than that of a Clio 2 RS.
01:24The problem is that the engine design, the small horsepower difference between the Clio 2 and the
01:31The Clio 3 RS, in fact, was not enough to close the gap between the two cars.
01:36And I think it's also mainly driven by the frustration of some owners of not really having a chassis
01:43which is truly exceptional, let's not kid ourselves,
01:48but unfortunately with performance that isn't up to par, well, an engine that isn't really up to scratch.
01:57chassis,
01:57Let's just say that the chassis could really handle more power.
02:02After that, it's still a great car; for me, it truly embodies the spirit of a GTI, those old-school little cars.
02:11It's not the same at all in terms of quality; it's a car that runs very well, but it's a
02:15A car that feels really sterile in terms of sensations.
02:18but we still find that aspect of the old GTIs in the sense that we have a small size, when
02:24even with a powerful engine,
02:25Since we have a 2-liter engine, and since this is a phase 1 model, this one has a 2
02:28297 horsepower in liters, so it's not bad at all, especially considering the car's weight.
02:34And we have a pretty comprehensive equipment package, including Farx Xenon headlights, cruise control, we have
02:41a really great audio system
02:43This one is lucky enough to have a panoramic sunroof, or rather, a self-opening panoramic sunroof.
02:48So people generally criticize the excessive equipment on cars in this range.
02:54But we mustn't forget that in its time, everything from the 205s to the Golf GTIs, the
03:01The sport versions were better equipped than the standard versions.
03:04That is to say, you could find the inter-leather interior, the panoramic roof, on certain American Gulf models, you had the
03:10cruise control, air conditioning,
03:12So I think it's not unreasonable; it certainly has an effect on weight gain, on the
03:18car weight, on engine performance
03:22But then again, you don't necessarily buy an RS key all the time just to bomb around, all the time just to go
03:30On the track, first and foremost an object of pleasure.
03:33First and foremost, it's simply a high-end car, but it's true that, aesthetically speaking, I...
03:41The Clio 3 isn't a car I'm particularly fond of; I much prefer the Clio 2.
03:46For those who know me, I really prefer old cars.
03:49But after trying it, it's true that I changed my mind, that doesn't change the fact that I
03:53I still don't find her particularly beautiful.
03:56but it's a car that's super enjoyable to drive, whether for daily use, in the city, or
04:02occasionally, just for pleasure.
04:04It's an engine like all 16s that's gutless, but still, before trying it, when you
04:10had spoken,
04:10I was really expecting worse than that, honestly it's not the end of the world, that's for sure.
04:14It's not as good as a turbo engine.
04:16especially if we compare it to the Megane RS which has the same engine base, but fitted to it,
04:22It's definitely a bit disappointing, but it's not terrible; we have a car that
04:26has recovery,
04:27And beyond that, it's true that we have a chassis that is truly exceptional.
04:30And that, I think, is what we're looking for most in a Clio.
04:34You see, that's still a pretty good response.
04:46So here we have the original exhaust; it's enough to make a nice little sound.
04:52The car doesn't move at all in its trajectory.
04:55You can place it exactly where you want, that's really great.
04:58because it provides a feeling of security,
05:02and also performance which is truly exceptional.
05:06It's easy to use, and the steering is truly superb.
05:09That's really what surprised me the most.
05:11We have a steering system that proves to be super flexible in the city.
05:15And as soon as we start to push the car a little,
05:19The direction is starting to become more rigid, much more precise.
05:23So it's true that Renault Sport really did the job in that regard.
05:27That's really great.
05:30Another strong point of the vehicle, as with many Renaults, is the braking.
05:36I think they deliberately oversized the brake discs.
05:40But in any case, I don't push the car to its limits.
05:44Because it's not my car, I don't know it.
05:46I don't want anything to happen to me with it.
05:48But I had the opportunity to ride with my friend,
05:50who simply owns the car,
05:52And it's true that it slows things down, but it's still really excessive.
05:57As you can see, we have an engine that takes a little while to start up.
06:06But it's really nice.
06:32So we're reaching the turning point, as you may have recognized in the first video.
06:37So the advantage is that it remains a high key,
06:39It's still a car with a short wheelbase.
06:40It remains a car that is super agile.
06:43So that's really, it's true that it's rather nice.
06:49The car handles the road really well.
06:55What's really great is the braking.
07:02From what I could see while driving it,
07:04and my friend who drives it,
07:08The car is not exhibiting any unhealthy behavior.
07:12In other words, it's not a car that's particularly durable.
07:14Afterwards, of course, I think it's entirely possible to make it start from the buttocks.
07:18But it's not a car that's a survivor.
07:20It's not a car either.
07:21or, like my Golf, it's the front end that struggles to keep up.
07:27It's really a car with very sound handling.
07:31And it's a car that has a chassis that is really super well balanced.
07:36So I can understand.
07:38I can understand the people who are upset about this car.
07:41I can also understand those who are disappointed.
07:43because I had the opportunity to ride in an RS key,
07:45It's certain that you can immediately feel the difference in the chassis.
07:48We have a technology that's about ten years old that has been used in the automotive industry,
07:55with an engine that isn't particularly sporty,
08:00or which isn't much more aggressive,
08:02So I can understand, but in the sense,
08:05I mean, someone who's really looking for a well-equipped vehicle,
08:07who is athletic, who has presence,
08:10I don't like it, but we have to admit it.
08:12You can see the shape, the wide wings, the small diffuser,
08:15It's clear that this isn't just an ordinary Clio.
08:18And I can understand those who are affected by this car.
08:22and those who want to buy it.
08:25We're going to do the U-turn like in the previous video.
08:27That hasn't changed.
08:35That's the colleague who's following me.
08:41So now we know that there's nobody there.
08:49No, what I love is the sound of the car, especially for a stock model.
08:52It's true that she sings really well.
08:56After that, it's certain that a small mildew or a small stainless steel line,
09:01That's a plus.
09:10Afterwards, you can feel that the car has quite a bit of traction control assistance.
09:15But that's precisely what can help in case of a pilot malfunction.
09:19Simply to avoid ending up in a pile.
09:25Because we still have nearly 200 horsepower,
09:28and someone who isn't particularly used to having large engines,
09:32He can quickly move to the photo.
09:56So there you have it, second try.
10:00It's a really nice little car.
10:04And a quick mention in passing,
10:08My friend is getting rid of it.
10:09So it was a small way to pay tribute to him.
10:14and to make a small souvenir of his car.
10:17That's it, see you in the next video everyone.
