00:00In 92, over 17 years we've been going, and after the last couple of games we've made some pretty big
00:06changes to our formula.
00:07We really wanted to come back and say, what is it that players really want to see in Mortal Kombat?
00:13And I think the three things are M-rated, presentation, brutality, they want to see a deeper fighting engine,
00:19and of course they want to see the classic fatalities in Mortal Kombat.
00:22We're delivering all three of those.
00:24You look at our background here, it's really, we're going for a darker, more serious, gritty Mortal Kombat.
00:30Our characters and backgrounds are rendered in full 3D, but the fighting plan has gone back to the 2D fighting
00:38of Mortal Kombat 1 and 2.
00:39That's what we're really excited about.
00:41So you have the classic moves, Scorpion has his spear move.
00:46Sub-Zero has his ice ball.
00:52And so, all of the classic moves that you expect from your characters, we have rendered in full 3D,
00:57but again with the 2D fighting plane, these guys can give you a cool demo of some of the crazy
01:02custom combos
01:04that you can do with the game here.
01:06I guess we're done quite a little bit.
01:15I saw in the trailer there were some backgrounds, obviously, that certainly pay homage to some of the older ones
01:21we've seen, right?
01:22Absolutely.
01:23This whole game is really a fan service game.
01:26It's really a kind of celebration of that first three Mortal Kombat games, the 2D era,
01:31you know, the custom combos, the juggles and everything that kind of like was really established with Mortal Kombat with
01:37the juggling.
01:38But then we added, you know, a lot of layers in terms of our fighting mechanic with our super meter
01:44here
01:44as well as just the whole big palette of special moves for players to do to actually, you know, create
01:53their own custom combos.
01:54That's the whole theme of our fighting mechanic.
01:59I guess what they say, it looks awesome.
02:02Yeah, we'll show you, hopefully we can show you a fatality here.
02:06No pressure, John, no pressure, Bob.
02:09So let's talk about the controls for a second.
02:11I see those guys using the D-pad, I see them using the face buttons.
02:13What do you got going on?
02:14Yeah, we have, again, going back to the 2D combat, we're really excited about, you know,
02:19just that kind of, we don't have to worry about, you know, circling around characters, going in and out.
02:24The whole goal is to just kind of open the doors for pop-up combos and create your own fatalities
02:31or your own special moves.
02:34The main emphasis in terms of, like, we have the punching and kicking, but you also have the throw button.
02:42You have a move for the x-ray move, which is a great feature we can show you here.
02:51That kind of, like, does, like, this internal damage on the characters.
02:56Each character has their own kind of x-ray move that they can perform to kind of do damage to
03:02the inside.
03:02That's when your life meter spills up.
03:04Here's another one here from Sub-Zero.
03:06He actually crushes your liver.
03:07Here's another one here from Sub-Zero.
