00:35Hello and welcome.
00:37We are here today to present an innovative dynamic world simulation
00:40that serves as the basis for our new game, From Dust.
00:44This represents two years of hard work in the conception and pre-production phases.
00:49We think we're ready to show you some of its aspects now.
00:53From Dust is a modern take on the god game genre.
00:56Here, nature is the star.
01:01We aim to recreate the emotions you experienced as a child
01:04when building and destroying sandcastles on the beach.
01:08The player can model the world they are playing with.
01:13We want to create a universe that reflects the power of nature,
01:17the relative insignificance of mankind, and the brevity of his lifespan.
01:23A world which evolves according to its own rules.
01:27Everything goes much, much faster.
01:30Sort of an extreme version of planet Earth.
01:33A world that humans can influence but not control.
01:37A world with earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
01:45As well as luxuriant vegetation.
01:49Rivers form in just moments.
01:54The player can experience huge changes to the environment in relatively small amounts of time.
02:00Now let's see how the simulation we created supports this concept.
02:05Here you see rock, its matter is very hard, and it erodes extremely slowly.
02:10Above the rock is soil, which is soft.
02:13See how the soil spreads naturally over the terrain.
02:17And then there's water.
02:19Water flows dynamically across the topology of the landscape.
02:23It cools to form hard rock.
02:24Then we have lava.
02:30It cools to form hard rock.
02:34Also, watch as the flora propagates by itself on soil, and halts the erosion process.
02:47By combining all of the elements you've just seen, our designers were able to create the world of Dust.
02:56That was just a first glimpse at the technology behind our game, from Dust.
