00:00Hold on.
00:01Hi, here with Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D.
00:06A lot of people haven't seen this.
00:07It's tucked away in the bowels.
00:10Max East.
00:12I turned the 3D off.
00:15For your sanity.
00:173D does look pretty good.
00:19It's not full depth of field though.
00:20I was surprised by that.
00:23Hi.
00:24What's up?
00:25Go ahead and press start.
00:26We're at Capcom, so don't press A.
00:28That won't do shit.
00:33Can we edit that?
00:34Yeah, that's the second time you've said that to me.
00:36It actually was funnier the second time.
00:38So I'm going to, of course, go with Chris's younger sister, Claire Redfield.
00:44It seemed like, what boss do you get if you go to Mangini Town?
00:47So the chainsaw-wielding, sack-headed monster from RE4 and RE5 from Dr. Salvador.
00:55They're both in it?
00:564 and 5?
00:57Oh, Salvador.
00:58Yeah.
00:58Right.
00:59I don't think of the guy in RE5 as Salvador.
01:02It's not technically, but whenever I see anyone with a sack on their head floating a chainsaw...
01:09You're like, Salvador!
01:10I know you.
01:11It's all within the Salvador genre.
01:14That's absolutely right.
01:19So, it's hard to talk about it without comparing it to the past Mercenaries.
01:25It feels a little bit more cramped, which is actually a good thing.
01:29So, when we talk about Resident Evil, it's all about the survival hero horror fear.
01:36Right.
01:36There's that X button that'll get you.
01:37Yeah, the taunt.
01:38Yeah.
01:38That's one thing that's totally new is now there's a taunt button each character has, and it does absolutely nothing.
01:43Is that right?
01:44You can taunt an RE5 Mercenaries with both thumbsticks at the same time. It's out of the way and not
01:50many people do it. In this game, it's mapped to the X button. We do have customizable controls in the
01:57final game, but for now it's the X button.
01:59Okay.
02:00What that means is that a lot of people, because they're not used to playing Nintendo consoles, will reach for
02:06the X button when they need to hit Y.
02:08Alright.
02:09The Y is our action button.
02:11Nintendo's X button.
02:12Yes. Nintendo X, Nintendo Y. Different buttons.
02:15These guys are much better at dodging than they were before. I'm going for headshots and they're just walking right
02:20out of the way.
02:20It's a little bit more of an action-oriented game.
02:23Sure.
02:24It's what we're calling a gameplay-focused experience, meaning it's outside of the normal context of our story.
02:29Right.
02:30For instance, we have the RE5 bosses showing up in RE4 levels and vice versa.
02:35And inventory is total touchscreen now.
02:37Oh, check that out. I think we need a slow-mo replay of the flash screen there.
02:41Oh! Fat Black Man showed up. I love Fat Black Man. I can call him that because I'm beige. Beige
02:46people aren't allowed to use words like that.
02:49Alright.
02:50He skips to the flash grenade launcher. This weapon's really great at controlling crowds. It doesn't do a whole lot
02:56of killing damage.
02:57Right.
02:58But it'll give you that space and allow you to do those context-sensitive melee attacks to give you bonus
03:03time.
03:04And I thought I had a sniper rifle, but...
03:06Maybe that bottom one on the touchscreen. Your entire inventory is literally at your fingertips.
03:12I had to watch them blow up.
03:15So, you can aim and move, but you move really slowly and you cannot change where you're aiming while you're
03:22moving.
03:22Yeah, I've been saying that you can move and shoot at the same time.
03:25Right.
03:26But you can't move, shoot, and aim at the same time.
03:28So, you still feel limited in a way that depowers you enough to force you to come up with techniques
03:34other than just walking, aiming, and shooting at the same time.
03:37Absolutely. This is not a run and gun game.
03:39Right.
03:39When we talk about Resident Evil, like I was saying, it's a survival horror experience.
03:43In this case, because we're not story-based, it's delivered entirely through the gameplay.
03:49I see it.
03:49So, one of the ways that the 3DS benefits us is the immersion factor.
03:55Right.
03:55I feel like playing it in 3D helps get a more tactile feel of the anxiety, the tension, the too
04:04many zombies.
04:05I don't know where my next meal is going to come from.
04:08Right.
04:08And mixed with a, like, I'm desperate to kill these guys to get a higher score.
04:12Yeah.
04:12You're both, like, afraid for your life and desperate to kill.
04:16Yes.
04:17It's a unique experience.
04:18What's up, guys?
04:19It's a unique experience and it delivers a lot that I can guarantee you you'll have everything there within the
04:265-minute gaming experience.
04:27And what, 30 levels?
04:29Over 30 missions, each with their own objective.
04:31So, the first time in Mercenaries modes, we're going to have things other than just killing zombies quickly.
04:36We're going to have other sort of score-based, time-based activities that will force players to think a little
04:41bit harder about what they're trying to do.
04:43Sure.
04:43Bosses from both games.
04:44Bosses from both games.
04:45Two-player online co-op.
04:48Two-player online.
04:48True online co-op, coast to coast.
04:50As well as a variety of weapons, skills, after the first time, an upgradeable system of skills that allow you
04:57to customize, you know, change the way you play the game to fit your style.
05:01We've got a lot in this one, especially, you know, coming out so soon on the 3DS.
05:06And this, I heard a rumor from a tall, handsome man with a Capcom shirt on that this will be
05:13the box art for Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D when it comes out.
05:17Something very similar to that.
05:18Unless you speak up in the comments and tell me I should change it.
05:24Well, thanks for watching you guys. Can't wait to buy it. When's that coming out?
05:28This summer on the Nintendo 3DS.
05:30Rad.
05:31Let's shake on it.
05:35He's holding out on that.
05:36That was a nice move.
05:37There we go.
