00:00Hey guys, my name is Rob Oliveira. I'm an art director here at United Front Games and we're going to
00:04walk you through Mod Nation Racers today through the created character system. So let's dive in.
00:09So we're going to start fresh here and we're going to start with a blank character and walk you through
00:14the process of creating a character and just for fun I'm going to try and create myself real quick and
00:19see how fast I can do it.
00:21So let's get going. So we're going to start with the head and let's get some eyeballs on there.
00:30Those are a little feminine for me so I'm going to stick with these right here.
00:33So with everything in Mod Nation Racers we usually have a basic edit mode and an advanced edit mode.
00:38So you can just dive in, do whatever the heck you need to do or you can spend as much
00:42time as you want and really customize things.
00:45So we're going to get the eyes going here. Let's modify these and let's scale them up.
00:55That looks about right. I've got big eyes. Let's change the color of those.
01:00So with every part in the game we have three color channels at least where you can go in and
01:04change just about everything.
01:05So I'm going to change my eye color. Mine's brown. So I don't see the color I want here so
01:10I'm going to go to the color wheel.
01:11And let's find something, oops, wrong channel. Let's get back to white. Let's go back to channel. There we go.
01:22So let's find the appropriate shade of brown.
01:29There we go. Lovely. Now it's clearly my eyes. So let's find a decent mouth.
01:41Here we go. I'm going to be sad today so let's slap it on there. Ears. It's fine.
01:50No, I've got small earrings today so let's go for this one. We're going to modify the position again with
01:56all 3D parts.
01:57You have full control, scale, color. So we're going to get these down a little bit. I'm going to make
02:02a little stylized version.
02:04You can spin around. Put those wherever we want. So I like those. Let's go back. And let's get a
02:12hairstyle.
02:12So let's get the appropriate spiky hair. I usually go crazy with the gel so let's find the appropriate hairstyle.
02:20There we go. A little darker there. That's getting closer. And of course facial hair. So let's get the old
02:28goatee going there.
02:30There we go. With every part in the game, again we try and record the colors you use so it's
02:36really easy for you to find the color you're looking for.
02:38Since I've used black hair already, black hair is waiting for me. There we go. They've instantly matched.
02:43So it's starting to look a little closer. So now let's find some clothing because you don't want me running
02:51around naked.
02:52So let's get some clothing on this guy. And let's start with some jeans. And maybe find the appropriate shirt.
03:03I'm wearing something like that today. Actually that's a little closer to what I'm wearing.
03:10So let's get the right color. That's a little too dark. So let's lighten that up.
03:17It's a little closer. Let's get rid of the red. Bam. So you can see how kind of quick this
03:23is. How fast we can do it.
03:24I've been doing this for a while obviously, but I think you guys are going to be just as fast
03:29really quick.
03:30So that's starting to look like me. Let's get some shoes on there.
03:34Where are some shoes? Oh, let's not forget the glasses. My trademark glasses.
03:39Mine are a little more square. So let's get some square glasses in there.
03:43And color those bad boys up. There we go. How's that looking?
03:49And what else can we do? Oops. Let's not forget some shoes.
03:56There we go. I like those. He likes those. So that's good.
04:00And finally let's go back to the skin color. So let's get the skin color right.
04:06Let's see.
04:10Oh, that's a little too dark. I'm not that tanned.
04:13And so that's looking about right. So there we go.
04:19So that's how fast we can kind of get a character up and running if we're trying to build ourselves.
04:22You don't have to do this. You can go nuts and build anything you want.
04:25But that's just a taste of how you can build a character in Modenation Races.
