00:00Hello, this is Kenny from Media Molecule
00:02and I'm here to talk you through the contents of the next update to LittleBigPlanet
00:06which, just like all our other updates, is named after a cheese
00:10in this case, Leerdammer
00:14Along with a tidy pile of small improvements throughout the game
00:18the key features of Leerdammer include
00:20new save game functionality
00:24improved connectivity
00:26and a long-awaited online create mode
00:34We've changed the way that saving the game works
00:36it's now faster, more flexible
00:40and more robust
00:43There's also a lot more space for all your creations and costumes
00:48So, how exactly is it different?
00:50Well, PlayStation 3 games have access to two different parts of your system's hard drive
00:56the game data space and the save data space
01:00LittleBigPlanet used to save your profile
01:03that's your game progress, everything in your poppet inventory
01:05and all the levels on your MyMoon into the save data space
01:09But as of the Leerdammer patch, we will instead be saving your profile into the game data space
01:16So far, so simple
01:18However, backing up all your game data is a lot trickier and slower than backing up your save data
01:25To get around this, we've added the ability for you to export your profile into the save data space
01:35From here, you can backup your profile to a USB stick using the PS3's save game utility
01:41To restore your profile, simply use the save data utility to copy it into the save data space
01:47and then import it using the in-game menu
01:54But wait, there's more!
01:56In addition to being able to backup your profile, which as previously mentioned contains all the levels on your MyMoon
02:02We've also given you the ability to backup individual levels into the save game space
02:14With all games, playing online can sometimes be disturbed by laggy connections
02:20LittleBigPlanet isn't any different
02:22So, in order to cut down on lag and connection issues
02:25We've completely rewritten a huge chunk of the network code
02:28which should now provide a vastly improved online experience
02:31That is correct
02:32Also rewritten is the matchmaking system
02:34which should now place you into online games with people who you're more likely to have better connections to
02:39which, again, will decrease lag when playing online
02:44These connectivity improvements are especially welcome considering our next new feature
02:52Now you can collaborate with up to three of your friends at a time
02:56no matter where they are in the world
03:00Joining a game is just as simple as a normal multiplayer
03:03You can request players join you, or ask to join them in their level
03:08I'm going to invite my mate, little Zim
03:13Online Create works similarly to offline co-op Create
03:16but with a few additions
03:18The main difference is that each SAC person has their own camera
03:21meaning you can work on entirely different parts of the level at the same time
03:25So whilst I make this thing-ma-jig over here
03:28Zim can go off and make a bridge or something equally constructive
03:32So you can keep in touch with each other
03:34The off-screen indicator shows where your partners are and what they're doing
03:42The host of the game, that's me, controls the rewind mode
03:46But the other creators can request the rewind from the host at any time
03:49by pressing left in the D-pad
03:51just as though they were rewinding in single-player mode
03:55When we're done, we publish the level as normal
03:57and bask in the glory of a job well done
04:02Thanks a lot Zim
04:06That's it for the Leerdammer update
04:08We hope that you enjoy using these new features in your LittleBigPlanet creations
04:12and look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour
