00:16:07like what we saw the day after Christmas when Hayes defeated the Mad Dragon.
00:16:12I mean, that was an instant classic when Carmelo won the title.

00:16:16These two have kind of been married to each other as opponents for the past four years.
00:16:20They've been competing all the way back in NXT for the NXT Championship,
00:16:23and that has simply continued here on SmackDown.
00:16:27And they certainly bring the best out of one another.

00:16:43This is a Mad Dragon, Dragunov who has refused his opportunity at rematches several times against Carmelo Hayes.
00:16:53I think the explanation is that Illya has been at war with himself and his own mind,
00:16:58constantly in turmoil, but now realizes to be the man he wants to be, he has to take the shot.
00:17:04And shot being taken at Carmelo Hayes.
00:17:07A lot of self-reflection with Dragunov, and his life's journey, and everything he has seen in life,
00:17:14and those he appreciates, especially his mother.

00:18:15and you know for a fact, if I'm gonna beat this guy, if I'm gonna leave as the United States

00:18:21I have to give this guy everything I've got, even if I like the guy.
00:18:34Just a look of shock in the eyes of Carmelo Hayes as what he's up against tonight.
00:18:42Janelia Dragunov, who is giving you everything he's got, and finally,
00:18:46maybe a little breathing room for Carmelo Hayes, and breathing is exactly what that man needs to do right now.

00:21:23And this is the absolute best in-ring version of him that you will ever see.
00:21:27Trying to regain that US title right here.

00:21:33Carmelo Hayes is starting to look spent right now.
00:21:37But if he just gets a glimpse of that championship, it might give him a little more fuel to try
00:21:42and get back into this one.
