00:11All right, I'm Carl Deckard. This is Tim McCann. He's going to be running Infamous 2 while I tell you
00:16a little bit about what the UGC content is all about.
00:19So what he's doing here is he's going to start creating a mission from a template.
00:23So basically what we have is every archetype that you know from the game already that you play in the
00:28single player game.
00:28We have just a bare bones template and allow the user to basically show their creativity on top of that.
00:35So you can see all of these nodes, they're correctly hooked up right now and they're functioning.
00:40So he's gone in I think to an assassination template.
00:42We're going to play it for you and show you what it's like before and then he's going to go
00:47in and he's going to do what we call Remix.
00:49All right, so he's given direction here that says take out the speaker.
00:52So he finds the speaker, boom, taken out and mission complete.
00:56So as you can see that's very bare bones, not too exciting.
00:59He's going to get in there and try to do something to make it more interesting.
01:03All right, so he's putting a rocket guy up on top of the tower.
01:05That'll be good.
01:06And he's got two guys adjacent to that.
01:09Top line is basically the core objects that come with the game and you always have access to those.
01:13These other ones are content packs which we are going to deliver to users via PlayStation Network.
01:19And we have a bunch of those active now.
01:21So as you can see you can just flip through the list of different content packs and choose the types
01:25of things you want to do.
01:26Like this is a collectibles pack so it's kind of cool.
01:28You can do all sorts of platforming missions and whatnot.
01:30We have all the basic things that you see in the in-game missions of course.
01:34And then UGC gets to put in a lot of other stuff above and beyond that.
01:38That's awesome.
01:38So what he's setting up now is he's going to make the speaker alerted to Cole's presence if any of
01:46the militia guys see him.
01:47So he's setting up a script command now.
01:49Action is the top level thing you can do and there's a lot of different things off of that that
01:53allow you to control the way enemies and NPCs work.
01:57He's chosen to move to point so that the speaker will run as soon as the militia alert them.
02:02They're basically set to default right now to use their default behavior.
02:05The mission designer of course can override that whenever he likes or she likes and you know make guys power
02:12or make guys specific example make them run.
02:14So now he's starting up the mission again and he shoots towards the militia and you see as soon as
02:19that militia got shot at he ducked and then the speaker ran from the podium.
02:23So now the mission just got more difficult okay.
02:25Before it was just an easy take the guy out mission you saw right where he was.
02:28Now Cole has to figure out where the guy is and he also has to deal with the extra enemies
02:33that have been put down.
02:36The strength of this system is that you can remix any level that is published up to the servers.
02:43You know when we go live everyone's going to be building missions and if you see a mission you like
02:47but you think you can do it better all you have to do is remix it just like Tim just
02:51did with this mission.
02:51Besides the assets that I showed you earlier there's a number of different logic components that you can put down.
02:57I mean this is one of the most powerful tools we have if he flips through those categories you'll see
03:00that you can link that up to any one of these other objects that he's scrolling through at the top.
03:05So you're basically you're modifying what they're going to do and then you tell who that acts on and you
03:10tell what the exact action is going to be.
03:12You hook a monitor up you can listen for when a guy enters a certain area and you can lay
03:16those all over your mission.
03:17And when the player goes through certain areas it triggers other things and those other things can trigger other things.
03:23I've seen like the network of components these guys have in their missions is insane.
03:28Our baseline is basically do a mission as cool as Infamous 2.
03:31Above and beyond that some of my favorite things are gameplay that's completely out of the norm.
03:35I think that's one of the things that UGC players really respond to.
03:38We played this Space Invaders mission and we played it and we loved it and we're demonstrating the remix to
03:44you.
03:44I'm surprised when I see somebody come up with a new mission that's sort of out of the norm and
03:48yet they all work.
