00:30So, just congrats to him, and I think he deserved it.
00:36Hey, Carlos, Adam Ross, Florida Tennis.
00:39You battled until the last point like a champion.
00:41How will you process this match with your team moving forward
00:46and take the positives out of it? Thank you.
00:49Well, I think I just played a good match, I would say.
00:56It's just about some details, some moments that I think he just played great.
01:04I didn't play a good point, a lot of 30-year-olds, 40-year-olds advantage
01:10that I just didn't make it.
01:14But, obviously, we have to see the other side of the net,
01:20and I think at that point, you know, Sebi played such a great point,
01:24such a great level.
01:25And, you know, with my team, we talk a little bit,
01:28and we saw in all part, in all game, what I did great and what I did good.
01:38And I would say what I was practicing, you know, I think I just did it really well,
01:46you know, in some couple of things that in the previous tournaments,
01:50I just didn't feel comfortable.
01:52and I think in this tournament, I just started to feel better and better.
01:57So, I think the process has been good, besides, you know, the loss today,
02:01but I think I'm just in – I'm still in the right way.
02:06Carlos, when you're coming up and you're playing, like, the world number one,
02:10is that something you look forward to?
02:11It was a challenge, no pressure.
02:14And, conversely, like Sebi, do you feel like now that you're number one,
02:17and that it's less pressure for the guy playing you than yourself?
02:21Well, I think that's obviously, you know, when you're in that spot.
02:28And, obviously, when you're winning tournaments,
02:31you have, you know, a great record win-lose, you know.
02:37And, you know, everything is, like, I'm going to say easier in the way of pressure
02:43to the opponents, to the players that are playing against me
02:47or against, you know, the best players in the world.
02:52So, yeah, I'm feeling that way.
02:56I'm feeling they have more to win than to lose in those matches.
02:59And that's why in some moments or during almost the whole match,
03:04they're playing without pressure or that's the feeling that I just get after every match.
03:10So, I'm not thinking about, like, my pressure.
03:14I don't feel it at all.
03:15I'm just trying to play my best.
03:18But, obviously, you know, the players I'm playing against,
03:22I think they don't have the pressure they usually get, you know,
03:28when they're playing another player.
03:31Carlos, when he was serving for the win in the second set,
03:34you won a lot of points in a row from that point on.
03:37You were on a big run.
03:39What was causing you to be able to do that?
03:42And did you think when he served the match again in the third set,
03:45you'd be able to dig out again?
03:47Or what was different between how you escaped the second set but not the third set?
03:51Well, we could see the level he was playing until the 5-4 in the second set.
03:57And we could see from the 5-4 until the end of that set what kind of level he played.
04:05So, I think it is, and, yeah, yeah.
04:11I mean, I would say that, I mean, you could see the difference.
04:16It was a big difference, you know, about the level he was playing at that moment.
04:23I always say that the closing of a match is always really difficult.
04:26You know, you think about a lot of things.
04:30Probably you're not as relaxed as you could feel when you're playing during the whole match.
04:37It's like everything comes to you, and it's really difficult to deal with it.
04:42So, I could feel the difference, and he just made three mistakes in a row
04:49that he didn't make it, you know, in the whole match.
04:54And I just tried to, and I just made the motive of it.
04:58I would stay there.
04:59I knew that, and I was trying to put, you know, as much ball in as I could.
05:05And it works, to be honest.
05:07But, you know, on 5-4 in the third set, I think he just knew what he has to do.
05:14He just played with a lot of first serve, which is tough when he plays with, you know, big first
05:22serve.
05:23And it's kind of, he was in that moment before, and he just dealt with that, you know, much, much
05:32better.
05:34Hey, Khalidouz.
05:35Bad luck.
05:35I thought you fought really well to force a third set, but there were times when you were obviously frustrated
05:41on the court.
05:42I'm curious, when you're facing opponents who are obviously playing way above their normal level,
05:47how, I guess, challenging is it to kind of accept that and kind of keep on finding a way through?
05:54Well, it's not really good, to be honest.
06:00It's a bit annoying, but, you know, you have to accept it.
06:06You have to keep it going and try your best.
06:10You know, I think, luckily, I have a lot of weapons.
06:14I have a lot of things that I can do on the court, trying to, you know, let him uncomfortable,
06:22which today, to be honest, I couldn't find that way.
06:29But I know from now on, I know they are going to play like that, and I just, I got
06:35to be ready.
06:36As I said, you know, I just, even though he was playing, I would say, above his normal level, I
06:43was there.
06:44A lot of 30-year-old, a lot of 40-year-old, you know, break points to me.
06:50I didn't make it, but, you know, I just got to see that point of view.
06:55And just for the next matches, you know, to think, like, they're going to play like that.
07:05And even though I just, I'm going to have my chances, and I will try to play better on those
07:09moments,
07:11on those points, and I will try not to let them stay on the match.
07:19I will try to push them, you know, to the limit even more.
07:24What's your plans for the next week, really?
07:26Are you going to stay here in Miami, go back to Europe, go to another heat game, maybe Monday night,
07:30and play the Spurs, so?
07:32Well, I don't know.
07:33I don't know.
07:34Probably I'm going to go back home, which I'm just looking forward.
07:38But, you know, stay chilling with my family, with, you know, with my friends.
07:43A couple of days, I don't know how much, you know, my team are going to allow me to, you
07:49know,
07:49to have rest and day off.
07:51But, you know, and all of a sudden, you just go back on track, go back on the court.
07:56You know, the clay season is around the corner.
07:58And I just have, you know, really good tournaments that I'm just excited about playing there.
08:05And, yeah, my mind right now is to take some day off, to just reserve my mind,
08:10to reserve batteries, and, you know, be ready and in a good safe for the clay season.
