00:07I'm Robert Huebner, studio director over at Nihilistic Software.
00:10I'm here today with Frank Simon, our executive producer.
00:12We're playing through a little section of the George Washington Bridge level
00:15from Resistance Burning Skies.
00:17This is about midway through the game
00:19and you're basically dropping into the bridge,
00:21ziplining in to try to rescue some survivors
00:23before the whole bridge is just blown up off the face of the map
00:26in order to try to keep the chimera contained.
00:28They're basically swarming the eastern seaboard right now.
00:31This is day one of the East Coast invasion
00:32and you're just in the midst of a battle.
00:34You can see there's just dropships coming in.
00:36You've got VTOLs screaming overhead.
00:39Just a lot going on.
00:40We really want to put the player in an immersive battle.
00:42So you can see we have high cover and low cover.
00:45Here Frank's taking a little breather behind some low cover
00:47and taking some well-aimed potshots at some of these chimera grunts.
00:51You can also use the virtual buttons on the front
00:53to always access things like your grenade and your fire axe.
00:56So if you find yourself in a position where you're face-to-face
00:58with an enemy, you don't have to remember to switch to your axe.
01:01You can just tap that front virtual button
01:02and right away, bam, down he goes.
01:05The grenade is also really handy to have at any time.
01:07Any time you see a good group placed,
01:09you can drag that icon anywhere on screen
01:11and it's going to place the grenade exactly there.
01:13An advanced user can even hold on to the button for a while
01:16and cook the grenade so it explodes in the air.
01:18You can see the controls are really what a resistance player expects.
01:21You've got your iron sights on the left trigger available at all times.
01:24It automatically peaks over cover, gives you a little targeting assistance
01:27but really it feels and we hope looks just like a PS3 resistance game.
01:33You've got great enemies, you've got varied environments,
01:36great 3D immersive environments.
01:37The familiar weapon wheel is available to switch weapons.
01:40And here we're going into a little tunnel between a couple of sections of the bridge.
01:43This is a maintenance tunnel that actually does exist within the George Washington Bridge.
01:47and here it's an unfortunate place to meet a few little nasty leapers.
01:53So the game has a full story mode and we're dropping you in the middle of it
01:56but it really kind of accentuates the character of Tom Riley
01:59who's doing all these selfless things trying to rescue all these people in the midst of this first battle.
02:04And in the course of doing that kind of helps turn the tide of the battle.
02:07We've got some new guys to fight here.
02:09These are Chimeran Scouts which you've seen before.
02:11They carry the really deadly sniper rifle so you have to kind of look for that laser tip off,
02:16try to figure out where they're at and time your shots carefully to avoid getting taken out.
02:21And here Frank's going to fight fire with fire, use his own sniper rifle which we call the 6i.
02:26It's a Chimeran manufactured sniper rifle and has a couple of cool tricks up its sleeve
02:31when it comes to secondary fire modes.
02:33Obviously it's not a sniper rifle, it doesn't have really good sights,
02:37really precise aiming, the ability to take great head shots and do extra damage to your enemies.
02:42Nice.
02:44So the secondary fire mode of the 6i is basically accessed with the front touch screen.
02:48It allows you to implant an explosive tag onto an enemy.
02:51And if you can do that, he tends to take out not just himself but also a couple of buddies
02:56in the vicinity.
02:57So it's kind of a nice way to get a little extra damage.
03:01Boom!
03:02Boom goes the dynamite.
03:05Of course the Chimera all have the heat stacks and the sniper rifle is a great way to take out
03:09their heat stacks
03:09and then also get a little extra collateral damage when they take out some of their buddies nearby.
03:15So you can see we got Chimera coming from you above, from below, you know, really you're in the midst
03:19of the battle
03:20and the cover, you're jumping from cover to cover trying to keep yourself from, you know, getting taken out.
03:25So that's a really brief taste. We've given you about two battles of this rather large mission
03:30and we hope it gives you a sense of the range of possibilities of Resistance Burning Skies.
