00:02Welcome to Paperboy and the Atari Lynx
00:05Now I've not done a few videos for a while so apologies for that
00:08But I'm going to try and make sure they're a bit more up to date
00:11Anyway, so this is the Lynx version of Paperboy
00:15And it's alright
00:18I like to say it's amazing because I love the Lynx
00:21But you can see for yourself that while graphically it's pretty polished
00:25It's a little on the slow side
00:28So you haven't got the speech that you've got on the arcade version
00:32Which is rather surprising really because the Atari Lynx was pretty good in the old sound department
00:38So I'm not quite sure what it's included
00:41But I'm hey-ho
00:42But it's a decent enough conversion
00:45You've got the whole...oh there's a pause there while something came up on another screen
00:50But you've got...it's pretty artistically very similar to the arcade game
00:55In terms of how the level is structured
00:58The things that appear
01:00So, you know, it's just so crippling slow
01:03I mean look at it, it's just...
01:07There's just no excitement like there was in the original arcade game
01:13But it's pretty good
01:14I mean it's not the poorest conversion of Paperboy
01:16Not by a long shot
01:17But when you consider the high standard of arcade conversions on the Lynx
01:22This one's like average as opposed to great
01:25And it, you know, that goes against it
01:27Because it's basically in so many...
01:30There's so many good peers that it's got
01:32Which are bloody good
01:34And sadly this isn't one of them
01:38It's quite a pricey game as well
01:41You can expect to pay a minimum of a ten for it
01:45Especially a boxed one
01:46And I have seen it go on eBay for as much as 20-odd quick
01:50Now, you know, if you do want it for your collection
01:54Then I would probably advise on getting...oh I don't know
01:58Maybe a cartridge because at the end of the day
02:03It's a lot of money for a fairly average arcade conversion
02:09I do love this bit though
02:10This always reminds me there was a programme on TV
02:13I can never remember what it was called
02:14It was out in the early 80s
02:16And you'd basically...
02:20You'd have a load of school kids and they'd be doing a quiz
02:23And at the end of every episode
02:25They'd be having like a face-off
02:27And it would be on something like Hypersport
02:29Or Paperboy
02:31Or 720 Degrees
02:33And I can't for the life of me remember...
02:37What it was called
02:38I'm pretty sure...
02:39Maggie Philbin
02:41The...
02:42What's the quiz master
02:43So if anybody knows
02:44And wants to direct me to a link
02:46Or better still a YouTube video
02:47I'd greatly appreciate it
02:50So yeah, so as you can see
02:52We're on the second stage now
02:53And basically it's very similar to the first one
02:56In so much that
02:58All the people that you keep
03:00You get to obviously have another go at trying to keep hold of them
03:04As I can see there
03:05I got a nice 250 point bonus
03:07And the subscribers that you miss
03:10Basically turn black
03:12And you have to smash their windows in there
03:14And I hope that you can convince them to come back to you
03:17Which let's face it
03:18Probably isn't the best way
03:19You could just like maybe go around
03:21Give them a nice cake
03:23Or offer to mow their lawn
03:25But you know
03:27Basically chucking a newspaper through their window
03:30It's like basically
03:31Fuck you
03:32Don't bother coming back
03:34So...
03:35Not the greatest plan
03:36But hey ho
03:37I didn't make the game
03:40If anybody wants to see
03:42Any other versions of Paperboy
03:43I can probably sort something out
03:45But otherwise
03:46This is Darren Jones from Retro Gamer
03:48And I'll be back with more videos
03:49Very very soon guys
03:51Take care
