00:09Oh, I want to
00:09give him a little more anger in his eyes.
00:11So I know I've got this image that has
00:13the rage in his forehead and eyes.
00:15I can just add a little bit of that shape from his eyes
00:17into the character.
00:19It's like we can really say, okay, that's a really cool moment
00:22that we're going to push the camera in
00:23and we're going to get all that.
00:27I mean, there are two
00:28fundamental changes for this game.
00:31The first is
00:32that it's on
00:35a new piece of hardware, and the second
00:36is that it's a new character.
00:38Those, I think, are the seed
00:41decisions that almost
00:42every other decision we made is based
00:45on those two decisions, and they were probably
00:46made three years ago.
00:48With this jump in hardware, you really
00:50have the expectations
00:52to see what is next-gen.
00:55And I think a lot of that is
00:57not just the better graphics, better lighting,
00:59smoother rendering,
01:01but the facial capture and the performances
01:03that are coming through just this
01:05fuller cinematic experience.
01:08You are not in control.
01:11One of the things that's really
01:13exciting is actually capturing
01:15the facial animation from
01:17the actors and actually getting all those nuances
01:19and everything that they bring to their
01:20in their performance, and it just really
01:22helps set you in that world.
01:26We take scans of the actor
01:28going through a range of poses, and we
01:30just really want, what is that actor's
01:32physiology capable of?
01:34We're using the moving points in space,
01:36but in a way that
01:38triggers the real nuances
01:40and micromovements of what
01:42happens with the skin
01:44and the face.
01:45You can imagine if every one of these
01:47joints are doing that independently,
01:49you can have an infinite range of possibilities
01:51of what the face can do.
01:52You can see right here
01:54where it says, okay, this is the area where
01:57there's tension, this is the area where a wrinkle
01:59is going to be coming through.
02:00You know, they've got the muscle over bone
02:02and skin and fat and unique things
02:05about how their face moves,
02:07and when you get that full range of scans,
02:09it's cool to see them get triggered in
02:11by the motion just naturally.
02:13We just see awesome performances
02:15on the mocap stage, and this time
02:17around, I feel like we're getting
02:19that, we're getting closer.
02:20Whenever somebody has like this small
02:23moment of thought, it really, really
02:25shows.
02:26It's really exciting to be part
02:27of the first wave of this technology
02:28where we're grabbing the face and the body motion
02:31capture in the same sessions.
02:32We're getting results that are much smoother,
02:34and that's really, really cool to see.
02:36The TV is in control.
02:39You are not in control.
