00:20Aresi Battle
00:21Aresi Battle was released for the Atari 2600 in 1977 as one of the original nine launch
00:25titles when the console was born.
00:27You control a gun, ship, or plane and battle against another player or the computer, shooting
00:32at targets or each other, racking up points for each hit, and the player with the most
00:36points when the time limit runs out wins.
00:38These battles will take place on land, sea, or air, depending on the mode you choose.
00:43Each mode has a few options where you can play one or two players, utilize guided missiles
00:47that you can control in mid-air or regular shots that travel in a direct line, or throw
00:51in some balloons or other random objects that don't count as points but act as obstacles
00:55to make things more interesting.
00:57You won't be able to fire rapidly, you'll have to wait for your shot to either hit something
01:01or veer off the screen.
01:03Playing against a computer kinda blows, cause there's no AI, it simply fires one shot after
01:07another repeatedly, but I guess it's still better than playing with yourself.
01:11In the first mode, your gun is stationary, but you can control the angle of your shot
01:15with the joystick to fire in three different directions.
01:18The second mode is similar to the first.
01:20The only difference is, your gun is stuck in a 90 degree angle, but you can weave it
01:24back and forth at a moderate pace.
01:26The third mode combines the two basically, you can control the angle of the gun as well
01:30as move it along the floor.
01:32The fourth mode you'll fire at objects from a boat that auto scrolls across the bottom
01:36of the screen.
01:37Even though the boat moves automatically, you can speed up or slow down with the joystick.
01:41The fifth mode you'll fly airplanes dropping bombs at targets.
01:44Much like in the boat mode, you'll be able to control your speed.
01:47And the final mode features a battle between a boat and a plane, the option of throwing
01:52in obstacles.
01:53Air Sea Battle doesn't have the most impressive graphics of all time, and it isn't very
01:57fast paced, but this game isn't about either of them.
02:00It's all about accuracy and timing, which can make for some pretty intense battles with
02:04another player, but it's very bland against the computer.
02:07Overall, it's a stellar shooter, especially when you consider the fact that it's one of the
02:10oldest games on the Atari 2600.
02:13Time will tell on their power minds, making war just for fun.
