00:12And no, sorry Street Fighter 2 fans, it's not your game
00:15It's Fatal Fury 2
00:17Yep, this game is great
00:19Unlike the original Fatal Fury, which was a pretty bad conversion of the Neo Geo original
00:24And World Heroes was also a pretty bad conversion of the Neo Geo original
00:29This is a really fantastic conversion
00:33It was basically reprogrammed from the ground up to Kara
00:36And they did a bang up job
00:38They used all the Genesis' strengths and weaknesses
00:40And instead of making a dumbed down version of the original game like Fatal Fury was
00:44They made a really great version of Fatal Fury 2 for the Genesis
00:49Now, sure, Fatal Fury was always kind of made fun of as a Street Fighter clone
00:55But it's not characters that are quite a bit more original than, let's say, World Heroes
01:01Just because we've been making fun of that game a lot today
01:05I'm going to go with Kim because I always like the Taekwondo games
01:09And the Taekwondo fighters in these games
01:13You can also pick the first fighter you're going to fight
01:16Alright, so let's go to Terry
01:17I don't care what you say
01:18Terry is probably the coolest fighting game main character ever
01:24He's not the generic, uh, generic style guy
01:28Now right away you can see that for a Genesis game the graphics are great
01:32We're fighting on some kind of train here
01:34And there's stuff scrolling by
01:37And you've got Mount Rushmore in the background
01:38And it's got so much detail in it
01:40The characters are colorful and detailed
01:44The six-button controls are great
01:48The music is not as abrasive and, uh, quiet as, uh, World Heroes
02:00I don't even like Taekwondo, but I like...
02:02And you can see that's one of the coolest things about this game
02:04Uh, you can switch between planes
02:08You're not just fighting on one 2D plane
02:10That's what Fatal Fury's gimmick was over Street Fighter 2
02:12It had the plane switching
02:14Which really can make these fights really hectic
02:18I mean...
02:19And Fatal Fury 1 for the Genesis
02:21The gameplay is pretty choppy and everything
02:24And World Heroes suffers from that too
02:26It's got really choppy gameplay
02:27But in this game the animations are silky smooth
02:31The game runs at a steady place
02:33You never really find any slowdown in it
02:38It's just fantastic
02:39What Takara did with the reprogramming
02:43And now it's, uh, dusk
02:47The way the game goes is, like, uh
02:50You fight first in, like, during the day
02:53And then the next fight will be dusk
02:54And then the fight after this, if there is a round 3
02:56Would be, uh, at night
02:59Which is pretty cool
03:00Because it changes the scenery up
03:01All it is, is really a color palette swap
03:04But
03:05It adds a lot of, uh
03:07A lot of variety to the game
03:09Oh-ho, you got wise to me, Terry
03:12I love that, I love that, uh
03:14That switching of the planes
03:16That's just
03:17It makes things so much
03:19So much more hectic
03:30Oh...
03:31Not as much engraved as
03:33King of Fighters games
03:34But
03:36It's still pretty engraved later on

03:47Yes, traveling around the world
03:49Of course, it's gotten the same criticism as any other fighting game around this time
03:54That it was just knocking off Street Fighter
03:55But this one didn't just knock off Street Fighter
03:59It improved on Street Fighter
04:01I know a lot of Street Fighter fans out there would not agree with me
04:05But I really think they did a lot to improve upon the genre in this game
04:11Unlike just being a simple clone like World Heroes and a few others
04:16World Heroes isn't the worst game on the Genesis
04:18I'm just kind of bashed on it because it's convenient to do so
04:23There are a lot worse fighting games on the Genesis, let me tell you
04:28But are there any better than Fatal Fury 2?

04:33This is the fighter to have for the Genesis

04:36I mean you should have more than one, why not
