00:00Ok and welcome to another Lynx game and this is Klax. Now this is a conversion of the, I think
00:09it came out in the late 80s possibly early 90s and it's basically I'm an Atari coiner and the whole
00:14idea of this game is you need to get Klaxes and that's just a fancy wolf name for get three
00:21tiles in a row, well three or more tiles, if I drink a six, three or a while I'm going
00:25for four because that's the kind of cocky guy I am.
00:29But it's great, it's a wonderfully simple concept as you can see on the screen you've got basically a five
00:35by five piled grid down the bottom which is like a bucket and at the end of each stage you'll
00:42work out how many tiles you've got left over and reward you accordingly as you can see there.
00:48Klax will come down on the escalator ever faster to you and basically your little paddle there can hold five
00:56before basically it overflows. Now if you let three tiles drop down and then you let a fourth tile drop
01:02it's game over so basically you've got to keep on juggling tiles.
01:05And one way you can do that is by pushing up the speed pad the front forward. Now one of
01:11the cool things about Klax is it's got some really brilliant digitised speech and arguably the sexiest voice in video
01:19games.
01:20So basically she normally only comes along when you're at the start of each wave and when you've got like
01:26a Klax of four or more. So hopefully if I get another one you can listen and you can just
01:31hear just have sexiesty sounds.
01:45Klax was ported to pretty much everything from the Mega Drive to the Master System to the 8-bit computers
01:55that come out on every system. It's a really simple concept but it just works brilliantly.
02:05I'd go so far as to say that the Atari Lynx version is probably one of the best ones and
02:11I'm not just biased because I've obviously got Lynx. It really is damn good. It's got the speed, it's got
02:19the speech, it's got fantastic visuals. Alright the visuals are simple but it still looks great.
02:26And best of all you can pick it up for less than a tenner. So if you see it on
02:30eBay and it's fully boxed and everything by all means pick it up because it's an absolute jargon.
02:37Wave.
02:39As you can see now one of the great things about Klax is it gives you plenty of different things
02:42to do. So even though you have to get three or more lines in a row basically some waves will
02:49basically ask you to get a set amount of Klax's. Others like with T here you've got to get a
02:54set amount of points.
02:55Other ones are still you have to basically catch as many as 40 or more tiles. So there's plenty of
03:03variety to the game and as of as always it never gets boring. I mean I've lost hours to this
03:10game.
03:17And there's that sexy voice.
03:27Now you've got the tiles and they keep on coming down on this escalator as you can see. Now one
03:33of the things you can do if basically things are getting a bit too sexy you just basically chuck up
03:39a screen as you can see there.
03:41And then hopefully that will give you the breathing space needed to basically clear a Klax and make a bit
03:46of room at the bottom of the screen.
03:56Now I think this is where it all falls apart on this level so um.
04:01Yeah I don't think I'll finish this so basically I'll just let you have a look at it.
04:04And as you can see now I've already dropped one tile so I've got one orange light, get three and
04:12then on the fourth tile it's game over.
04:18So like that this is Atari um the Atari Lynx conversion of Klax it's uh it's really damn good so
04:27um you know if you've got Lynx get it you will not be disappointed by it.
04:31This is Baron James from Retro Gamer and I'll be back with more videos for you very very soon guys.
