00:00Hey guys, SaxDude26 here, and welcome to the next Let's Play Zool, Ninja of the Nth Dimension Extra.
00:07This time we're tackling the Game Boy version.
00:10And can I just say, out of all the handhelds, I like this one the most.
00:15Yes, no joke.
00:19Though, yeah, there are still some things about it I like.
00:22For one, oh, we're just watching the end of the...
00:25the example of playing.
00:27Yeah, things I don't like about it, for example, one track of music only.
00:34Oh, there's a scoring system. Nice.
00:38Yeah, only one track of music.
00:42It's not in colour.
00:46I've had a playthrough of it before, and when I did, Tool World was missing.
00:53Yeah, kind of like the master system and stuff, but it wasn't replaced with the last world.
00:58Um, but it has some advantages over the other versions.
01:02Most notably, it is the closest thing to a handheld version of the original.
01:08Yes, it is the closest thing to a port of the original version.
01:11You can't climb up walls.
01:14The first...
01:15Hamburger has a tail.
01:16He has his lollipop tail back.
01:19Banana and Clock is the third boss.
01:21Even though Jimmy's killer guitar is an axe guitar in this one,
01:27his attack pattern is based on that of his original,
01:32which is quite spiffy.
01:34Um, yeah, I'm not sure about Tool World, though, because I think it's disappeared.
01:40So, yeah, it's okay, but the music does get very irritating after a while,
01:45and the sound effects interrupting the music doesn't help.
01:49And as you can see, you skip Tool World, and boom, you've got Toy World there.
01:56Yeah.
01:57It's quite...
01:58I quite like this one, actually.
02:00I mean, if it weren't for the fact there's only one music track,
02:03Um, I would play this far more frequently, but, um, I know,
02:08we're kind of sitting here and watching the title screen for ages and ages,
02:13and you will be sick of the music by the end of three minutes.
02:17But I want to see if there are any more...
02:18Okay, there's only that many demos.
02:20Okay, I'm curious to know, then, if there are any more worlds,
02:24because this is Sweet World again,
02:27except it's a different stage.
02:29Hang on.
02:32Okay, I want to watch another demo and see what happens,
02:35because I'm curious now.
02:37I'm really curious.
02:38Sorry I'm wasting your time and everything, but...
02:42And knowing my luck, I might not be able to get through the first world in two videos.
02:49Let's see, now it's all different!
02:50It's all different!
02:52Yeah, it's all different!
02:54I am very confused.
02:57Maybe there is a fourth world.
02:59I'm into a world that is in the game,
03:01but who knows?
03:03Alright, enough of that.
03:06Enough of that.
03:09Enough, I say.
03:10Enough!
03:14These sound effects get really annoying,
03:16but I'm going to keep them on for the sake of this part, okay?
03:19I'm keeping them on.
03:25Jump, fire,
03:28fire,
03:29fire, yep.
03:30Up doesn't need to do anything.
03:31These sound effects are going to drive you insane, sorry.
03:33I'll apologise now in the comments.
03:38Yeah, so...
03:40How is it even closer to the original?
03:42Well, look.
03:43Ha!
03:43I can destroy...
03:45Goodie boxes!
03:47And I actually like this in comparison to the Game Gear version,
03:51because for a start,
03:522-2's all actually works.
03:54Ha!
03:57Oh, he makes noises when he walks.
03:59That's kind of...
04:00That's kind of cool,
04:02but...
04:03It's going to get irritating, I can tell.
04:05I like how everything's also really super deformed.
04:08No, I don't mean super deformed because it's in Chibi,
04:11but everything's like really, really, really small.
04:16I mean, look at the bees.
04:19Look at them buzzer bees.
04:23They're all like...
04:26They're...
04:26They're like Patamon.
04:28They swallowed a watermelon.
04:30G-g-g-g-g-g-g-g
04:33Yeah.
04:36I always found it interesting when you...
04:39started another level or you died and then had to restart.
04:44How the Area 1 Get Ready image was a...
04:50A screen full of Zuldu and Oliver's animations.
04:56I found it kind of funny.
04:57I mean, it was interesting.
04:59It surprised me.
05:01I didn't know what to expect at first.
05:03It's okay.
05:04Right.
05:05Checkpoint.
05:06You have to actually make sure your punch lands on it directly
05:10or else it won't work.
05:12And the checkpoints have been given the different appearances
05:16for each world, like in the original version.
05:19Can you stand on that like you normally can?
05:22Yes.
05:26Nice wall of goody.
05:28A Z of...
05:28Z...
05:29Yeah, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab.
05:31A Z of goodies in the sky.
05:34That's better.
05:36I'm not sure what happened to my language there.
05:39Bomb.
05:43And walls are breakable.
05:45They're not actually like they are in the Game Gear and Mega...
05:49Um...
05:49I'm still doing that.
05:51The Game Gear and Master System version where it's just...
05:54There might be some walls you can walk through.
05:57You actually can break them.
06:00Turnarounds is all, please.
06:01Thank you.
06:04If I find one, I'll show you.
06:06But...
06:07This...
06:08The...
06:08This version actually goes on for quite a while.
06:11It's, um...
06:14It's got greater longevity than the, um...
06:17Game Gear and Master System versions.
06:19I got it right.
06:20But yes, um...
06:22And...
06:23Because it's based...
06:24It's more heavily based off the original.
06:26The boss is in the...
06:27Is within the third stage.
06:31So...
06:32It's not a case of, um...
06:34Like the Mega Drive and SNES versions where it's...
06:37One, two, three, and then four.
06:38Which is a stage that leads up to the boss.
06:40No.
06:41The boss is in stage three.
06:42Like it was in the original.
06:50Two Zool.
06:51Now watch it.
06:52See?
06:52It's actually working.
06:54You got two Zools.
06:55And it's flickering quite a lot.
06:57Sorry if that blinds you.
07:07Now this game has continues, but you find you're using...
07:10There we go.
07:10Break the wall.
07:11One up.
07:13You find you use them very quickly.
07:16Well, I find I use them very quickly.
07:18It's just like the actual LP, innit?
07:24Um...
07:24Yeah, it really is.
07:26Because I keep dying and...
07:28Stuff.
07:29I like how the, um...
07:33I like how they've done the HUD.
07:36It's sort of like...
07:37Sort of like...
07:39It's sort of a combination of, um, the HUD...
07:44All the HUDs from all the other different versions.
07:49Because you've got the health down the bottom.
07:51It's displayed in hearts.
07:54Okay, you've got the health down the bottom.
07:56So it's like the Mega Drive version.
07:57It's displayed in hearts, like the Game Gear and Master System version.
08:02And the...
08:03The arrow that directs you is...
08:06Also at the bottom, which is like the SNES and Mega Drive version.
08:09You can destroy the tops of some of those puddings as well.
08:12Jellies.
08:14Puddings, jellies.
08:14I'm not actually sure what they are.
08:16They look like both.
08:18Just because I've got a cherry on top in my...
08:20No!
08:21You can't have cherries with jelly.
08:25I think.
08:27Do-do-do.
08:27Yeah, but...
08:29The only problem is this music gets...
08:30You get really sick of this music after.
08:34Oh!
08:35I'm already sick of it.
08:36Oh, yeah.
08:38You can destroy the top of some of them.
08:39That's...
08:40That's interesting.
08:45This one?
08:46No.
08:47For whatever reason.
08:49This one?
08:50Yes.
08:50Okay.
08:52This one?
08:53No.
08:55I mean, I can easily tell which lollipops...
08:58Because they're not the dark ones, but they're not the light ones.
09:01They're the ones in the middle.
09:03They're sort of a medium shade.
09:06Do-yi-yi-yi-yi.
09:10Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm
09:14-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm.
09:14Breakable?
09:15Oh, no.
09:17Oh!
09:18And now I can actually show you.
09:19In the original version, the big collectable bonus in Split World was...
09:26Well, it looks like a lifesaver, and in an Amiga, what was it, the Amiga Power Magazine review hint CD
09:36video thing that was totally horrible and is misleading in terms of telling you about the game and how to
09:42play it.
09:43I watched the, okay, I watched the Amiga Power review of the original Zool. I despised it. I could not
09:51watch it without just watching it in total, I don't know, disappointment that they would get so many things wrong
09:59that said, oh, the two Zool is actually a hindrance. How is it a hindrance? Is it, it makes you
10:05disappear and you can only see your shi- no. It actually doesn't.
10:10Even go and look at the long play of the Amiga version doesn't. Doesn't in the Acorn version, doesn't in
10:17the Amiga version. You might just have a very dodgy capturing thingy. I don't know, I'm not going to judge.
10:27Some people liked the review, some people didn't. I personally didn't, but, nah.
10:31Alright, see you in part two of this extra for more of the Game Boy version.
