00:33In the world of Ashan, which is the common setting between Heroes 5 and Heroes 6,
00:38it has been associated with the shadow-tainted Dark Elves, underground-dwelling renegades,
00:43who have fled the Elf Forest and embraced the powers of Darkness.
00:50The Dark Elves were born during a night filled with betrayal.
00:54That began when the High King of the Elves, Arniel, stood aside as the Holy Empire invaded Queen Tweedana's lands.
01:01In desperation and anger, Tweedana turned to Malassa, the Dragon Goddess of Darkness, and her minions, the Mysterious Faceless.
01:10The Mother of Trees, Brithaga, sacred to the Elves and home of the Royal Dwelling, was treacherously burned to the
01:16ground,
01:17leaving nothing but a black scar on scorched earth where nothing would ever grow again.
01:22The Dark Elves were blamed for this heinous crime.
01:25Their faceless allies led them into exile, below the earth, away from the light.
01:32Their clan grew weak, decadent, torn by internal strife.
01:37Today, they slowly wither away while waiting with little hope for a new leader to rise.
01:48Raelag, Tweedana's first heir, must unite his weary people.
01:52In Heroes 5, Raelag is already established as an unquestioned leader of a powerful and proud nation.
01:59But that's centuries later.
02:01Now in Heroes 6, and particularly in Shades of Darkness, he is a young prince who has yet to accept
02:06his imposing destiny.
02:07Raelag's purpose in Shades of Darkness is to find a home that the Dark Elves can call their own.
02:14To achieve this goal, Raelag must follow the dual path of secrets and shadows, and forge an alliance with the
02:21almighty Black Dragons.
02:24Under Raelag's leadership, the Dark Elves will truly become the masters of assassination, stealth and deception.

02:42This is both an offensive and a defensive tool that is crucial for tactical positioning and movements.
02:48They prefer to strike their foes unaware and isolated, and are absurdly lethal in such situations.
02:56They're also masters in the art of confusing the enemy, with various illusions and mind control abilities.
03:03When forced to fight in the open, the Dark Elves deploy armies of mixed creatures.
03:08The main body of their infantry consists of beasts from the darkness and minotaurs.
03:13Elite troops are assassins and stalkers, armoured in soft leather and light-scale mail, and armed with deadly daggers and
03:20check rounds.
