Il secondo video "dietro le quinte" degli sviluppatori di Spec Ops: The Line.
Trascrizione
00:11La storia di Spec Ops Align è la storia di tre soldi.
00:15You play as Captain Martin Walker, leader of a Delta Recon Squad,
00:18who's sent in to Dubai after the city's been ravaged by these cataclysmic sandstorms.
00:22You're looking for Colonel John Conrad, the commander of the Dam 33rd,
00:25who went in to help evacuate the city.
00:27As they were evacuating, this massive sandstorm hit
00:30and everyone in the city was believed dead.
00:32Six months later, a mysterious kind of broken radio signal
00:36was picked up coming out of Dubai.
00:37And so you're sent in to see if there are any survivors left.
00:40Conrad's still alive. I think he is.
00:43I know he'd agree with me.
00:47Facts end here. Guess this is the nest.
00:50Walker is a bit of a mystery.
00:52This is a commander, a professional soldier.
00:54He has to keep this little bit of emotional distance
00:58from Lieutenant Adams and Sergeant Lugo, your squadmates,
01:01because he has to sometimes give them orders
01:03where they are going to possibly go to their death.
01:06You've got to be smart about this.
01:07Okay, rules right there and I've got a clean shot.
01:10You open fire now with civilians of death.
01:12Does that mean nothing to you?
01:14Lieutenant Adams is Walker's second-in-command.
01:16He is also the demolition expert and the heavy gunner for your squad.
01:20Sergeant Lugo, on the other hand, is a rookie.
01:22This is his first mission as a Delta operator.
01:25The relationship between him and Walker and him and Adams
01:27is going to be very different
01:28and evolve differently throughout the game.
01:30Christ, these soldiers were massacred.
01:33Nah, look how they're lined up.
01:35This was an execution.
01:37Colonel John Conrad is, in many ways,
01:40this larger-than-life soldier.
01:42Take me down!
01:43This is a man who is both a brilliant strategist,
01:45but also the best example of a soldier that he can possibly be.
01:49Cover me! I'm reloading!
01:50The characters in Spec Ops are not static.
01:53These are not going to be the same people
01:55that you meet at the beginning of the game
01:57by the time you reach the end of the game.
01:59Begin.
01:59No! No! No! No!
02:04What happens to them and what happens to you
02:06is similar to what has happened to Dubai.
02:08The sandstorm has stripped away
02:09everything that they thought they were
02:11to who they really are.
02:12We're going to keep at this
02:13until you tell me what I want to know!
02:16The moral choices in Spec Ops are different
02:18from what players have come to expect out of a video game.
02:22They are not between A or good, B or bad.
02:24These choices are about holding a mirror up to yourself.
02:29Fuck! I'm taking the shot!
02:32Wait for your order, sergeant.
02:35We chose to set Spec Ops in Dubai for two reasons.
02:38One, this is not meant to be a game about global conflicts.
02:41You're not fighting other nations.
02:43You're not fighting terrorists with a nuke.
02:44So we didn't want people to be thinking about
02:46any conflicts that are currently happening
02:48or maybe have happened in the recent past.
02:50RPG, second floor!
02:52Also, Dubai is a metaphor in a lot of ways
02:54for what the player and the characters are experiencing.
02:56This is a city where there should not have been a city,
02:59but men with money and power just came in and said,
03:02I'm going to build whatever I want.
03:03And then the sandstorms came, the desert retook it,
03:06and nature said, no, just because you want to do this
03:09does not mean it can happen,
03:11does not mean it should happen.
03:12The CIA doesn't start where you can't finish.
03:15Well, now's the time to prove it,
03:16because I'm not telling you shit.
03:19No!
03:19What the hell?
03:21The inspiration that we had was not necessarily
03:23to recreate a character from a movie
03:26or a book that necessarily people liked,
03:28but instead to create real characters
03:31that felt like they were actual people,
03:33soldiers that were with you on this journey,
03:35and not just tools that you were giving orders to
03:38and commanding around a battlefield.
03:39All insurgents wishing to surrender,
03:42please report to your nearest outpost for processing.
03:46We had many military advisors in the game
03:48who were constantly going over the script,
03:50checking it for accuracy,
03:52and also at the same time performing our mocap
03:54so that we had our characters moving
03:56like soldiers actually would move.
03:58Spec Ops is a game about who we are as gamers,
04:01and that's where the title of the game comes in,
04:03Spec Ops, the line.
04:04that line between expectation and reality,
04:07who these soldiers think they are
04:08and who they actually are,
04:10who we as gamers think we are when we choose a game,
04:13and ultimately who we actually are
04:15as we play that game.
04:16on the it of.
04:21The games in game.
04:24The games in game.
04:26Part of this game.
04:26Part of this game.
