00:00Hi, this is Paul from Mode 7 here. I'm just going to show you a little bit more of Frozen
00:03Synapse on the iPad.
00:05I'll generate an instant skirmish now, so you can see this is entirely unscripted and random, and there we go.
00:11Up pops an instant skirmish with randomly generated terrain and a randomly generated situation.
00:16So the early version I showed of this game on YouTube was an early beta. This is a final beta.
00:21We're hoping to launch the game in May, and something I can announce now is that we'll also have an
00:26Android version.
00:27So all of you have been asking me for that. That is going to happen. It should fulfill your Android
00:32desires.
00:33As you can see here, it's really pretty simple to plan. You just tap to select a unit.
00:38Something that we added during testing is the ability to double tap to make waypoints.
00:41So say I wanted to go over here, I can just go bloop, and the game will find the easiest
00:45route there.
00:46There's still another method of adding waypoints if you prefer that, if you want to do something a little bit
00:50more accurately.
00:51But this, I mean, this is pretty good and easy to use. We've worked really hard on making this work.
00:55I can really get to anywhere I want to just by double tapping.
00:58Similarly aiming, really simple. Just tap aim, tap where I want to aim, and then I make my plan.
01:03My unit will start aiming. When I want him to stop aiming, I just tap the point on the plan,
01:07and then I give him a cancel aim order, which is over here. Cancel aim, and as you can see,
01:13he'll start aiming there.
01:14And then once he hits that point, he will stop aiming and continue running. So really, really simple.
01:19I'm just going to make a quick plan for this turn here while I talk to you and then commit
01:23it and see what happens there.
01:25So rocket launchers, same as on the PC, you just aim them and they can destroy walls.
01:30This guy, I'm going to make him use that cover, that's a pretty good plan, and this is just kind
01:33of aiming into space.
01:35But instead of that, what I think I'll do, I'll just delete that, pretty simple.
01:38I shall double tap down here and get him to run and see if he can take out those two
01:42rocket launchers.
01:42So hit prime, the AI on the iPad has been optimised, so it happens really quickly.
01:47There it goes, and that's my turn calculated, and now I can have a look at the outcome and see
01:52what happened.
01:54As I mentioned before, everything from the PC version is here.
01:57That turn actually ended up being okay, I did lose that unit up here, and this one down here managed
02:02to take out a rocket launcher.
02:04So I'm just going to be a little bit defensive, play a little bit carefully, take a position behind there
02:09and aim.
02:10All of the orders from the PC version are here, here are some of the more complex orders.
02:14One of the features that we've kind of resurrected from the PC was a bit of a hidden feature called
02:19zones,
02:19but on the iPad it's nice and easy to use.
02:21So in zones mode I just select zone here, I can draw a zone on the screen, I can save
02:26it,
02:26and then I can give my unit orders to focus or ignore on that zone whenever he wants.
02:31So it's just another way of defining how I use the space.
02:34Similarly, on the PC version we had another feature which was behind a hotkey called sightline,
02:38which enables you to check where you'll be able to see from a particular point.
02:43Here you can see it's really simple, I've just tapped that and I can drag this around and check my
02:47sightlines
02:48and come out of sightline mode like that.
02:50Let's prime that turn and see how I do.
02:52We've really put a lot of effort into trying to make this interface good,
02:55you should be able to see the difference from the previous version.
02:58And we've had a lot of input in testing that we hope will have gone into shaping a really, really
03:02good version of the game.
03:03As I may have mentioned before, there's complete cross-play between the tablet and the PC version.
03:08Let's just watch this outcome.
03:10So you can literally start a game on your PC in the morning, do a turn and then go to
03:15work,
03:16hide your iPad in the toilet and do another turn on it.
03:19Not that we recommend that of course, but it is possible.
03:22You can also play on the same servers as people who have the PC version,
03:25so it doesn't matter if your friend is playing on a desktop or you're playing on your tablet,
03:28you can both play together in perfect harmony.
03:31Well, I hope you've enjoyed this little introduction to Frozen Synapse on tablets.
03:36We're very, very excited about it.
03:37It will be coming out in May.
03:39Please check out this channel for future details and a trailer when that happens.
03:43Thanks very much.
