Kung Fu Superstar funziona sia con il pad che con il Kinect.

00:07In the past few years, we've witnessed the emergence of powerful motion control peripherals
00:11that promise increased immersion through physical gameplay.
00:14At the same time, we're not exactly ready to throw away our trusted controllers,
00:17especially not when most of these motion control games have not exactly delivered on that promise.
00:22So what do we do? Which do we choose? Controllers or motion control?
00:25Let me ask you a different question.
00:27Why should you have to choose?
00:29Why can't we, game designers, design our games in such a way that you could have both?
00:34That's the revolution we're trying to bring about with Kung Fu Superstar.
00:37Let's see how.
00:42Here's Danny on the set of his latest movie, Last Guardian of the Dragon Empire,
00:45a martial arts epic set in ancient China.
00:48As you can see, I'm currently controlling Danny with my controller.
00:51Right stick controls the camera, left stick makes him move.
00:54Let's spawn some enemies, I mean extras, and see what happens.
00:56Okay, so currently I'm using the arcade control scheme, which allows absolutely anyone,
01:01regardless of gaming background or platform they're playing the game on,
01:04to have fun with the game in its most basic form.
01:06As you can see, I'm using the face buttons to trigger common third-person fighting game actions
01:10like light attack, strong attack, block, counter, and dodge.
01:14The moves you're seeing are still actual martial arts moves generated by a fight choreography engine,
01:18in a way that keeps the action dramatic and exciting.
01:21Right, so let's go in the pause menu of our prototype for a second,
01:25and let's assume that I'm more of a hardcore gamer.
01:27And as a hardcore gamer, I require a bit more challenge and tactics from my fighting game experience.
01:32So I switched the control scheme to simulation controls, and jumped back in the game,
01:36and now let's see what happens.
01:38The game switches to the director's cut mode, and we now have these icons floating around enemies' heads.
01:43These represent the fight choreography scripts for the sequence,
01:46and show you the martial arts techniques it contains.
01:48To pull them off, you mark an enemy, and then perform a controller gesture
01:51that corresponds to the particular technique.
01:53These gestures are designed to match the movements of the hero's body,
01:56and provide not just an extra level of immersion,
01:59but also an extra level of strategy, challenge, and tactics,
02:01as you now have to think carefully about how to approach the situation,
02:04and which move to perform on which enemy first.
02:11While the director's cut mode gives you a script to follow,
02:14the improv mode ramps up the challenge by not showing you technique icons.
02:18Here it's up to you to think back to your training,
02:20and pull off a technique that's appropriate for the situation.
02:28Okay, so that's pretty immersive, but what about if I want to step it up a notch?
02:31What if I wanted to perform all those cool moves myself,
02:34instead of just emulating them on the controller?
02:37Easy enough, all I have to do is put the controller aside,
02:40stand up, and that's it. I'm in the game.
02:43I'm physically taking part in the action, performing all these moves myself.
02:47No pause menus, no scanning, no calibration.
02:49All I have to do is stand up and start fighting.
02:52The game adapts to the chains and control methods automatically.
02:55The engine takes control of the camera and player movement for me,
02:58and lets me focus on the most important part of the game, the explosive combat action,
03:03which is now masterfully directed and delivered
03:05by the clever AI algorithms of our fight choreography engine.
03:38But let's say I got tired of all this exhausting punching and kicking though,
03:42but I'd still like to keep playing this level just to find out what happens next in Danny's story.
03:46No problem. I slouch back on my sofa, grab the controller again, and I keep going.
03:51Again, seamless transition. No pauses, no frustration.
03:54We've seen some motion control games with controller-based features,
03:58crowbared in at the 11th hour, and we've seen some controller games with trivial motion control atoms.
04:03I think it's clear that what we're talking about here is neither of those.
04:06We're talking about something that's been designed from the ground up
04:09to work equally well with either control option.
04:12You're the one who gets to make the final decision on how you want to experience the game,
04:15and you get to make that decision whenever you want and as many times as you want.
04:19I think one of the smart things here is to work on a control mechanism that allows players choice.
04:26The choice of whether to stand up and go into the action yourself,
04:31or the choice of whether to sit down and relax and use a controller.
04:34And that's what's so great about today's world. We've got choice. Consumers want choice.
04:38Sometimes I want to be relaxed. Sometimes I want to be energetic.
04:42Sometimes I feel so emotional about what's going on screen,
04:45and I actually want to leap up and take on the bad guys themselves.
04:49And other times I want, you know, just want to kick back.
04:52And I really love this approach that is being taken.
04:55We're excited to announce that we intend to support the Oculus Rift in our game.
04:59Our grand vision is to create the most complete,
05:02most immersive and most innovative martial arts combat simulator ever.
05:06The second we tried the Rift, we knew it was a device that could really help us achieve that goal.
05:09We were already hard at work experimenting with different ideas around Rift support in the game.
05:14The prospect of putting you literally in the heat of battle,
05:17where you'd have to physically look around to identify threats and take care of them efficiently
05:22using your Kung Fu skills is something that we're really excited about.
